Brendan Clancy and Frank Mason had a great match-up which put them into second and third respectively. Tethys has gone 9.906, 9.907, 9.912 and 9.907 on his last four runs. Junior Dragster qualifying top five after session 5:

Only Phil Leamon ran in this session, he improved his ET but stayed in place. 17:45 Roger Goring rolled through stage in the Firestorm Jet Funny Car. Never one to waste an opportunity, Roger staged on his back wheels then hit the throttle. It looked like a great pass, the car really accelerating hard towards the top end. Andy Bird took back #1 place in this session, Chris Jones into the 9.5s and into fifth place before Fred Furlong moved up to #2 and moved Chris down to sixth. Steve Coombs took the lead, then in very next run Paul Coombs took the lead so we had brothers at #1 and #2! In the next pairing Richard Sawatzki took the lead from Paul. This was a fast and furious session with a lot of improvements through the class. Becky Evans took the lead, Jay Hauser took #2 spot and then a couple of pairings later Jayne Kay took it off him, and Nick Mugridge moved into third. Vicky Molden's 0.077 now only good for #5. In the first session of Top Fuel Bike qualifying, Stefan Iwanowitsch crossed lanes in front of Ian Turburville and punted the mid-track reflectors, then stayed in Turbo's lane, so no time for either Stefan or Turbo. Mark Watkins did a great job of holding onto his car after it did a hard right turn off the line. The left tyre hooked up and the right tyre was shaking like a Top Methanol car! The top of the coolant bottle was found to have come loose and the bad news was that we had anti-freeze on the track. Supertwin Gas qualifying top five after session 1:

Ade Lockley's bike started to smoke at about half track and the smoke got thicker and thicker, the bike disappearing at the finish line. Nothing untoward was found on the track, though. 10:45 Outlaw Anglia qualifying top five after session 1:
Birthday boy Paul Wright's Pop made a hard move to the left just past half track and he pedalled, Paul Hensher had a similar moment at the finish line, his car making a move to the right just before the chute deployed. Matt Wright's pick-up threw its bonnet at half-track, the bonnet went a fair way up but came back to earth gently, word from the top end is that the bonnet is not damaged. Trackside conditions at the end of Super Pro ET qualifying were 11.7 C, 37% humidity and 30.09 inches of air. Track temperature at 250 feet was 18.8 C. 8:45 Good morning and welcome from Shakespeare County Raceway for qualifying day of the Shakespeare Nationals. It's a nice day here, quite springlike with the sun breaking through very frequently. The track looks very good. Trackside conditions right now are 12.2 C, 35% humidity, and 30.09 inches of air. Qualifying is due to start at 9:30. The running order shows two complete cycles but Race Director Ozzy Ewing said that he is aiming to put in a third cycle.
