The Race Director has just called the event here at Shakespeare County Raceway. We have had a few rain showers and time is running out to get the track dried and get racing again before the 17:00 curfew.

Sharkman will post today's pictures when he gets back to base so tune back this evening for those.

The driver-side door of the Ellis Racing Oldsmobile came off after Kev Perkins' burnout, Kev sat patiently whilst his crew re-mounted the door and then he put in his pass!

The Ellis Racing Olds is carrying RIP Terry on its back window in memory of Terry Gibbs; a large number of the Super Mod and Super Gas racers are carrying such tributes.

Top Fuel Bike final:

Steve Woollatt 6.676/213.22 def. Steve Carey 7.007/200.05

Steve W pulled a visible holeshot on Steve C. Straight hard passes from both racers, the straightest run I've seen Steve Carey make and his first 200 mph, well done to both Steves!

Good morning and welcome from Shakespeare County Raceway. It's eliminations day at the Power Nationals and we're here to bring you all the news in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/MPM Oil webcam is on line and broadcasting a picture every two minutes.

As you can see from the webcam it's a pleasant and sunny day outside, the breeze is blowing straight down the track which is unusual for SCR, it is usually cross-track. We had some rain earlier this morning but the sun is drying it off and the jet drier is doing the rest of the job.

The traditional raceday Hello to our US correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman who are tuned in from New Hampshire, and tuned in from Europe we know we have Lex Joon and Gerda Dijkstra and Gittli Koller, all of whom have been in touch to say Hi. Hope you are having a good day guys.

Hello also to Ulf Stadig who got in touch to ask if we could give the track temperature in Fahrenheit rather than Centigrade. When we're in Sweden, Ulf...

Martyn Jones asked us to say Hi to Steve and Pat Johnson, hope you are having a good day.

No pit notes to speak of this weekend as Simon is busy working on the timing crew but we have a couple of stories to share with you. First up is Super Pro ET racer John Everitt who told us that he was caught short on Friday night and so, it being the middle of the night, he used an empty fuel can for relief. This fuel can was subsequently used by his crew yesterday morning to top up the Fairy Liquid bottle of methanol and so the Alien altered was fired up on a mixture of methanol and...well, you get the picture.

Secondly, Funny Bike racer Dave Bailey told us that he learned a valuable lesson yesterday morning, which is that you cannot launch a Funny Bike in fifth gear. This rendered Dave a DNQ for today but he bounced back with a great 7.5-second pass in yesterday's Test and Tune session.

We will be holding the minute's silence for Terry Gibbs at 11:00. Please also remember Super Street racer Paul Spiers' son Sean, the anniversary of whose death it is today.

Eliminations start after the tribute to Terry, tune back then and we will bring you all the news.
