We have completed three sessions of qualifying for all the sportsman classes today. It started out hot, and got hotter as the day wore on, giving less than perfect conditions. However, that didn't prevent a couple of track records falling. Tony Legg set a new ET and speed record in Super Twins Modified on his Cagiva with a pass of 9.494 at 154.23 mph. Also in record setting form was John Floyd on his two stoke Yamaha in Super Twins Gas. He ran an excellent 9.09 in the first session, and then followed that up with a 9.2 later in the day. The 9.09 backs up the 9.2 for a new record. The two strokes ruled the roost for years in STG and then recently the four strokes have had the upper hand - the two strokes are back!

Other runs that impressed were Len Pagets return to the sevens in Pro Stock Bike, running 7.803/172.41 mph. Mark Flavell ran a series of low sevens in his Super Pro ET dragster, with a best of 7.147/188.50 - more than half a second under his usual dial-in. Also in Super Pro ET, Derek Flynn in the Gold RV dragster ran a consistent series of 6.9s - and boy are they a happy bunch - smiles all round. Paul Wright was back in the seven second zone in his blown alcohol Anglia, running a best of 7.997/172.27.

Congratulations go to Andy Kirk, who took the eurodragster.com/speedflow perfect light award, and picked up £50. The perfect ET award is still up for grabs.

Roger Goring put in two exhibhition passes in the Firestorm Jet Funny Car, running 6.41/252 on the first pass, and 6.72/231 - entertaining everyone with his usual flame show. The two Top Fuel dragsters of Darryl Bradford and Andy Carter were due out towards the end of the day, but Bradford had to miss the session as they were experiencing problems with the brake system. Carter put in his pass, but was unable to get it up on the tyres in the burnout. He launched with a 0.95 sixty foot time, and shut off at around 330 feet, cruising to 9.03 at just 84 mph.
