Ian Hook into #4 in the first pair despite his tyres smoking at the hit and having to pedal. In the other lane Brian Payne's tyres smoked and the Mustang took a hard right turn about 200 feet out. Mats Andersson's dropped what looked like a piece of its exhaust at about half track, in the other lane Stu Williams moved up to #5 spot. Improvement for Mark Todd but stayed in #2.
