At last the rain has gone away. After a great job by the track crew we'll shortly be calling the first classes to the pairing lanes.

12:55

It's turned into one of those days: rain, start to dry the track, more rain... repeat as unnecessary.

Stay tuned.

10:45

We've had a couple of showers here at SCR. The track crew were well advanced on getting the track ready and were scraping the first thirty feet or so when the rain came.

The rain radar shows a clear patch behind the current shower. Stay tuned and we'll bring you an update when things change.

Good morning and welcome from Shakespeare County Raceway for our coverage of the Open Sport Nationals brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car.

The Webster Race Engineering/Nimbus Motorsport webcam is on-line and will broadcast a picture every sixty seconds so long as the track is open. We will be using the same HD camera which we use for the live broadcasts so even though static the picture will be better quality than previously. Many thanks to Shakespeare County Raceway for providing us with the requisite access.

It's a nice morning here at SCR. A lot of rain fell yesterday - I wasn't here but I understand that at one point they were getting together a lot of wood and two of each animal - but the track looks in good shape considering and the track crew are already out with the sweepers. As at every drag strip it's the shutdown area which needs the most work but the guys are on the case.

Manual reporting here this weekend so we will be tracking the top fives during qualifying. Unfortunately there will be no pit notes as Simon is away... in fact as he is in New York and thus heading for the hurricane shelter he probably wishes he was here right now. If you're tuned in Simon then the best of luck to you and your family, but what are you doing sitting reading this... RUN!!!

We are due to commence at 10:00 with Pro ET qualifying. Stay tuned and when the wheels start to move we'll bring you the news.
