Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association session 2 (left lane first):

Jim Usher 8.075/127.26, John Wright 8.928/119.16; Tony Betts 6.902/182.70, Frank Bennett 7.420/136.21; Bob Glassup 7.116/173.09, Joe Bond 7.130/190.61; Dave Grabham 7.583/160.43, Clayton Round 8.261/161.58

Jim sounded to be driving through the clutch and shut off early, Chaos had a cylinder out at about 330 feet then its tyres started to smoke at half track and the altered made a hard left turn. John came close to crossing the centre line so shut off. Long (distance not time) track check of Jim's lane after the run but all OK. Front left wheel up for Tony, then caterpillar tracks where the front wheel came down, Tony pedalled and the tyres hooked up then Venom started to make hard moves about its lane, Tony pedalled and got back on it again. Frank drove through shake and one of the 'chutes deployed and he stayed on the throttle. Bob's motor misfired on start-up and shut down almost immediately, a couple of plug leads swapped and the motor started up just fine. Nice passes for Bob and Joe, huge holeshot for Joe, then a big cloud of dust in the shutdown area as Bob's altered got a bounce on and the front suspension collapsed and Bob lost front steering, from that point Bob was a passenger as the Xtreme altered turned right across the shutdown area in front of Joe who pulled up very quickly. Both Bob and Joe are OK. Wild ride for Dave, headed for the guardrail and then making big moves left and right but Dave stayed with it until about 1200 feet then put the chute out. Straight run for Clayton, the altered just seemed to lack its usual punch.

Trackside conditions are 24.4 C, 53% humidity and 29.80 inches of air.

12:25

9:30

Good morning and welcome from Shakespeare County Raceway for our coverage of the Open Sport Nationals brought to you in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/Lex Joon Racing US Tour 2009 webcam is on-line and is scheduled to post a picture every sixty seconds until the track closes on Sunday.

It's another nice morning at Shakespeare County Raceway, sun and some cloud. Trackside conditions are 21.9 C, 65% humidity and 29.85 inches of air. Alas there will be no track temperatures today as the battery has drained on our temperature gun and due to crass incompetence and alarming ineptitude on your reporter's part there is no spare. It'll be back for the FIA European Finals.

The left lane is looking good this morning. The track crew worked from 6:30 until gone 10:00 last night washing the lane to rid it of the oil and anti-freeze which kept coming back up through the surface, and were then up again early to carry on with the job.

The traditional Raceday Hello to our US correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman who are tuned in from Rye, NH. Charlie Cong wouldn't be sitting at a VDU reading drag racing results, young man. Hope you are having a good weekend guys and Ed we'll see you in a couple of weeks.

Racing is due to start at 10:30 with the first round of Pro ET. Stay tuned and as soon the the motors fire up we'll be back with the results.
