Michael Piggott into #3 with another 7. No time for Len Paget who left before the tree ran as Andrew Christophi ran 7.81 to go 4th. Keith Wright another addition from 8.50 Bike but no time for him either.

Congratulations to 2023 Champion Bobby Wallace. Also hi to Andy Robinson and team who can't race due to engine damage at the Euro Finals, however he is assisting Kev Slyfield. First to run was Jean Dulamon who has a new engine and exhaust headers for the first time, great 5.95/238 run, 0.9904 and 3.9083/191.25, new PB on ET, well done Jean and team!
Kev Slyfield 5.9887/2234.08 (0.9643 and 3.9011/188.76 incrementals) with four-link repaired after breakage and subsequent crabbing at the Euro Finals, steering away as the car went right v Jon Webster 7.2816/180.62 in the sole turbo entry, 1.1913 60ft time and steered away from the centre as the car went left but behind Kev.
Bobby Wallace 6.0103/241.26 (0.9694 and 3.9686/190.17) v Wayne Nicholson 7.2828/215.11 (0.9991 60ft and lifted by half track as the car headed left with tyre shake.

Champion contender Tom Atkinson characteristically in the first pair, ran +0.1245 on dial. Welcome back to Angel Romero in his Camaro, into #2 with +0.0776. Andy Thetford went to the left of his lane and lifted to a 10 after a 1.1455 60ft, Phil Toppin in attendance on the startline.
Fantastic wheels up launch and course correction from Ron Bartlett, his 7.81 uncannily the same number that Paul Dale ran in his 105e Anglia last weekend and quickest of the breed that we know of. Points leader Alan-Didwell into #1 with +0.0294 as Callum Swinchatt went right off his launch into the blue 'refuge' area, so likely to be DQ'd from his run.
Pete Walters into #2 in effectively a tuneup run for the held-over-for-trophies final against Colin Morrice to be run in Q2. Then Harry Gibson in Another Small Fortune owned by Martyn 'Sid' Jones launched hard, with front wheels up and tyre shake and lifted after heading left (1.0451 60ft). Scott Hauser into #1 with +0.0264.

Good morning and welcome to day 1 of our coverage of the 2023 STP National Finals from Santa Pod Raceway. It was foggy when we arrived yet that has largely burned off already to reveal clear skies. But it rained heavily last night, two jet track dryers have been deployed in order to dry the shut down area, so we are looking at a slightly delayed start estimated at around 10.00. Temperatures are a chilly 9C rising to 16C with wind from the west of 13mph. Air density thanks to airdensityonline.com is around 750ft rising to 1300ft, with 51-55 grains of water.
The plan for today is three qualifying sessions for most classes, with Pro ET, Super Pro ET and Junior Dragster timetabled for their third session at the start of tomorrow. Junior Dragsters may be called first. Over the next two days, five sessions are planned for all classes with Pro Modified and Top Fuel Bike having six sessions in all. We'll let you know any change to plans as soon as we hear.
Greetings to all Eurodragsterholics tuned in. As well as Julian and Diana taking photos, Kirstie will be in Sportsman ET and Kieran will be crewing for dad Kev Jenkins in his Comp Eliminator Escort. Kieran will be staying on after the event to photograph and video the Monday Drag Club which is getting near a sellout we hear.
