Kieran Astley pushed back after the burnout, great 7.6687/184.33 for Andy Thetford, new PBs, well done Andy and team! Bell matchup between son AC in the Pontiac and Ashley in the for-sale Chevelle, 8.82 for AC first to Ashley's 8.83. Great driving job by Patrick Duboi to go #17 to #14, the car staged pointing left and he expertly steered it away from the centre line.
Smoke from the engine compartment for Simon Barlow, looking like engine damage and pushed away with a pool of oil and chunks of aluminium rod in the staging area. Alan Didwell up from #13 to #7. Ron Bartlett with a nitrous purge but had to lift in the second half.

Thanks to Neale Saunders who informed us that other competitors have agreed for Steve to make a qualifying pass at the end of today's schedule.
Update 17:00: Steve managed to fire and burn out, however the revs were too high and he idled down the track.

Steve Ashdown DNS. The new Undertaker car lookin resplendent, Shockwave Racing put in a lot of money and effort to rebuild the car, electrical problems in the pits kept the car off the track yesterday. Revs were high on the burnout, and Steve decided to idle down the track and through the first exit.

Breakouts for the first four racers, following Pro ET being off their dial - a few adjusted dial ins? John Tebenham fogging out the startline area, he has a spare pair of tyres to use up as well, hit 150mph again. Jens Konnecke up from #18 to #15. Much straigter run for Elodie Dubois from France in #17, 7.5998/178.52 on a 7.46 dial.
Mark Coulsell's dial in determined by Harley, revealed to the team as the car came into the staging area, goes from #24 to #2, nice job Harley and Mark! Nick Good in the other lane 6.8916/192.08 (1.0149 60ft) on a 6.77 dial. Ron Bartlett with 7.89 dial but stayed in the 8.3s having posted yesterday that the nitrous kit didn't work on his previous run. Matt Peters up from #15 to #4, in the other lane Barry Giles in Martyn Jones' dragster had a 1.0003 launch but off it before half track. Billy Gane now consistently in the 7.8s but broke out by a few thousandths. Simon Barlow in the Orange Pop racing Fordson 7.4861/163.63 up from #30 to #28..

Good morning and welcome to our coverage of day 3 of the FIA/FIM-E Main Event from Santa Pod Raceway. The weather is sunny with slightly more wind than yesterday, 16mph from the northeast, and temperature 11C forecast to rise to 20C. Density altitude is 200ft and rising to 400ft by 2pm, then dropping to below sea level by the end of scheduled racing.
Yesterday's qualifying was completed in good time, some racers on it from the start, others struggling with setup which we expect will have been worked at overnight. You can see racers in action and working on their vehicles in our galleries from Julian and Diana to whom thanks, also photos 190-195 in the pit pictures gallery courtesy of our guest Lena Perés. Fortunately the day was incident free, although we had our hearts in our mouths for Top Methanol Dragster racer Silvio Strauch's run which was partly up on two wheels, and we're not talking about wheelies either.
Best wishes to racers in the pits who desperately want to come out to play but the mechanicals are not co-operating, Nostalgia Funny Car racer Wendy Baker posted a picture of her cylinder liners in the fridge in an attempt to get them to fit, but we understand a spare engine is now the option the team is going for. Also we send best wishes to Steve Ashdown whose car looks fantastic but was stuck in the pits all day yesterday.
