First up Kevin Chapman, great to see him back after rebuilding following his accident a year ago, Wayne Dupuy his crew chief overseeing the operation. After a normal pre-run routine, the engine cut out unexpectedly off the line, apparently not a throttle stop problem. We'll see him back later.
Jason Phelps (Gladiator/Hawk Racing) 4.9266/200.77 v Kevin Kent (West Ten Motorsport) 5.4476/132.53. Great start, puff of smoke from both cars near the 1000ft finish. Kevin had 0.9069 to 60ft and 3.7818/150.31 to the eighth, off the throttle with tyre shake, Jason on the throttle longer 1.0142 to 60ft and 3.8143/207.99 to the eighth again off the throttle early. No apparent dramas.

Brian Pateman, with a touch of nitrous, a 8.30/160 on 8.37 dial. Patrick Dubois. Joe Kellett with a 8.90 dial now a regular event, use of a throttle stop permitted in this class now. Andy Thetford ran straight to 8.1050/175.74, in #27, good to see running well.
Happy Birthday to Sharon Walters on Al Schofield's crew, footbrake launch for the Scud altered. Daniel Giles up from #17 to #10 with +0.0112. Barry Giles in the Another Small Fortune, owner Martyn Jones with a bad back but able to crew, hi to longtime crew chief Dave Crunchorn aka Cruch, who is not here this event. 5.9874/237.38 for Barry, with great control, 0.9388 to 60ft and 3.9025/184.25, we are in no doubt that Barry is having a fantastic weekend!
Bob Doyle and Simon Barlow shut off for a track check in the Slick Tricks lane, Simon pushed back. Pause for sledding. Simon Barlow followed with an early lift off 8.3833/118.97, 1.1131 to 60ft. Another wiggle for Elodie Dubois on her four link car and she lifted. Quick pass for Billy Gane 8.0120/172.36, went slightly right down track.
Commiserations to sponsor Pete Walters, an oil pick up pipe broke off and the engine suffered spun bearings and hurt the crank, despite work to repair it, the team decided not to risk it.

Good morning and welcome to our coverage of day 2 of the FIA/FIM-E Main Event from Santa Pod Raceway. The weather is dry and cloudy which we are expecting will burn off this morning. Wind is a negligible 7mph from the east, and temperature 9C forecast to rise to 19C. Air density is -200ft and rising to 900ft by the end of scheduled racing.
Yesterday's sportsman qualifying saw all five sessions completed with some really tight fields, see our race report to catch up with the current orders, as well as our galleries from Julian and Diana to whom thanks. Commiserations to Joe Stevens who had an unfortunate incident with his Sunbeam Stiletto, putting it on its side after a wild ride. We know Joe will appreciate support of the drag racing family to get back on track and hope to announce more anon.
Today's action is the first FIA/FIM-E qualifying session since last September, and the first full-on one since 2019, with many teams missing last year. So a huge welcome back to visiting teams, if you're here pop round to their pit and buy rheir merchandise. Greetings to all Eurodragsterholics, see you all when qualifying begins at 09:30.
