Marcus Hilt (PM Vette) 7.2314/134.20, 1.0001 launch, car drifted right, Marcus pedaled, 4.3208/165.45 to half track, then a pop and the chutes came out, looking as if the Electrimotion system had been triggered. Then Andres Arnover 5.8809/250.97 great pass, four hundredths away from his PB on ET, 0.9907 to 60ft, 3.9151/197.19 to half track, but then drama as the chutes didn't come out and we saw a puff of smoke as a front tyre burst as he came safely to a halt short of the field. Pause for recovery of Andres' car.

On the restart Andy Bond's Chevy spun the tyres to a 14s pass and Ron Bartlett, who has been giving passenger rides all day, ran without a passenger, spun the tyres and then went to a 9.9597/153.60. Final pass for the Seat Ibiza of Petros Taxopouplos, staging issue with the front air dam, then 8.4115/NS.

That's the end of day's testing, thanks for looking in and come back later for our galleries from Julian and Diana.

09:35

Good morning and welcome to the Main Event test day from Santa Pod Raceway. The weather is partly sunny with clouds, wind 11mph from the northeast (tailwind) and temperatures 13C rising to 17C. The air density is good, currently sea level and forecast to rise to no more than 500ft with water grains between 53 and 65.

Today is open testing for those that have signed on, there are still some places available but there will be a limited number of spaces so we recommend that racers get to signing on to reserve their place. We will report live on runs that take place with incremental times for some of the quicker cars.

Hi to Eurodragsterholics from around the world who will be following our coverage and thanks for the kind comments on our Doorslammers race coverage last weekend. Hi to Bob Roberts, Mike Kraaij and Lena Perés who we will see during the weekend and will provide pit notes (to be posted within the race report at the end of the day), also good luck to our team members Kirstie and Kieran who will be involved in the racing this time.

Come back for updates from the track later in the morning.
