Matt Davison shut off as there was a pause to clean a line of soot from Patrycjusz's Seat Ibiza.
On the restart Matt Davison paired up with Terry Newton but solo for Terry who shut off mid track as Matt was pushed back. Jorel Wells failed to start against Simon Crowley. Haider Jalal holeshot win over Grant Moore, Calvin Skerrit over Phil Thomas.

Best wishes to Kev Jenkins and team who have withdrawn with an engine problem. Wayne Waterhouse on a bye, Daniel Mrzygold drove away from Josh Waterhouse, bye for Darren Scannell, Alex Leiserach slowed mid track but stayed ahead of Jack Marriage. Jack Krugel from Denmark with a bye in his rapid Nissan Pulsar, Jason Turnock bogged off the line against Jan Niemcewicz, Chris Waterhouse ran a new PB to defeat a wayward Dave Crowhurst who got close enough to the blocks for one to be dislodged. Bye run for Chris Todd, who took it easy to 151mph.
Bye for Andrew Burton, close to his PB, Martin Friedschroeder drove away from Adam Phillips who slowed, then Subaru Impreza matchup between Andy Hughes and Mikee Singh, Andy driving away from Mikee. Followed by the two Outlaw Flat Fours of Peter Shattock and Jonny Marriage, both came to a halt on track.

Bye for Allan Duthie as Lewis Simpson had cylinder head issues which couldn't be replaced in time. New PB for Charlie Roberts over Connor Devine, well done Charlie! Brad Morgan with a new PB in his Renault 5 over Liam Rogan, well done Brad! Harry Lockwood with a new PB over Lisette de Koning who ran an off form 13, well done Harry!.
Ricardo Leit caught up and overtook Grant Moore, but faded at the end, Grant coming out the winner by 0.2164. Paul Conway with engine rebuild overnight over Nick Shotton who had gear selection issues, both bogging off the line. Piotr Formela drove round Scott Lewry who had a second better RT after deep staging. Karl Monks over Dale Houston. Pause for sledding the left lane.
On the restart Connor Edwards, with a replacement gearbox, lost power to Lewis Lavender who won by 0.0351s. Dan Malton won with a sub par run over Jodie van Aswegen who had problems getting down track. Bye for Phil Thomas, then Dominic Calliste over Robert Colquhoun, Mart Dainty pulled away from Darren Dewhurst, Anthony Mincher over Paul Walklate, Terry Newton passed Ben Faggetter, new PB for Ahmed Jamshaid as he passed Craig Evans, well done Ahmed!
Andrew Bambrick drove away from wife Becky in the next pair, Lukasz Rychly rolled through stage against Cameron Bishop who ran a new PB, Jose Leite drove around Ahsen Mahmood who had borrowed a fire suit after his own was inadvertently removed in a friend's car. Pause for track inspection and sledding.
Andy Nicholls v Andrzej Majchrzyk (all motor CRX), staging duel, Andy in first and drove around Andrzej who still ran a new PB, well done Andrzej! Clark Appleton stage fouled against Simon Crowley who took it relatively easy. Rafal Kakol was a no show with engine breakage against Pawel Pietrzak who ran through after he paused on the start with a 15s 60ft time. Patrycjusz Dabrows drove around previous winner Stephen Ray. Jake Tipping stopped off the line against Alan Kenyon who ran a new PB, well done Alan!
Dawid Lamik drove around Fran Herbert who ran a new PB, well done Fran! Matt Davison ran a new PB to defeat Pawel Grelich, well done Mr Boost Matt! Jorel Wells ran a bye run. Maciej Ziolkowski stopped off the line against Petros Taxopoulos who had done an engine rebuild overnight and made an easy run still recording a 172mph terminal. Good morning and welcome to day 3 of the Doorslammers from Santa Pod Raceway. The weather is glorious, not a cloud in the sky and 10C temperature rising to 17C, 16mph wind from the northeast. Air density is good, just under 200ft density altitude rising to around 650ft. Great conditions for racing.
We had great qualifying yesterday with many personal bests, and an entertaining chip draw. The winner of the first Big Bracket was Thomas Haas, congratulations to Thomas and wife Natalie on great racing, and the first buy back winner to go on and win the title. You can see the first round pairings at the top of yesterday's report with thanks to chief timekeeper David Anniwell for recording and supplying the information. Commiserations to all those who can't make eliminations, Kev Jenkins experienced and engine problem that couldn't be fixed for today but we're sure he will be back at the Main Event neext weekend. Several racers had late night thrashes which we will report on in today's race report.
Greetings to Eurodragsterholics around the world, to Geoff Stilwell, Tony Thacker, Nick Davies and Rob Loaring in El Mirage who suffered a storm and the race getting rained off, the team are super-ready and did one checkout run before the rains came but they need better weather conditions for Bonneville Speed Week in August. Also congratulations to longtime supporters and regular correspondents Carla Pittau and Rick McCann for Rick's win at Vårgårda Dragway in Sweden, which we will report on in our next news update. There has also been racing at Clastres in France which has produced a new track record from Sebastien Lajoux. Back home come back for round 1 at 09:30 and we'll report all the news from Santa Pod.
