Kev Slyfield 8.9342/104.07 def. Jean Dulamon, no-show: Jean visibly had the engine eating itself up on his sole run yesterday. Kev had a wayward tyre shake filled run and two big pedals, 1.0303 to 60ft and 5.0419/126.51 as he steered and lifted to keep it in a relatively straight line.

Nic Williams with a suspension component swap with brother Dan whose front shocks were damaged by his massive wheelie yesterday, over Dave Smith, Rene Ehrismann had a #1 qualifier bye, Dan Williams over Robin Orthodoxou who ran a great 7.0183/190. Kev Jenkins back after being slowed by an electrical sensor issue yesterday, but the car stumbled on launch against Spencer Tramm.

Red for Ted Sullivan against Jake Cooper, Luke Mugridge closer to dial than Kai Cooper, Lola-Belle Kent closer to dial than Daniel Todd, Sam Fairhurst broke out against Max Taylor, Katie Ellis broke out in her last JD race against Damion Redshaw, as did Tom Peters in his first competitive race against Ellie May Brown.

Good morning and welcome to our coverage of day 2 of the STP Summer Nationals from Santa Pod Raceway. The weather is brighter today with high clouds and temperature of 12C forecast to rise to 19C. The blustery headwind of yesterday has been replaced by a mild crosswind of 9mph with density altitude of between 800 and 1350ft.
We saw two complete qualifying sessions yesterday despite showers in the afternoon, and will be able to start eliminations as scheduled with Junior Dragster at 09:30, you can see the full running order via the event index. There were some outstanding runs, with two Pro Mods in the fives, Bobby Wallace with a new PB ET 5.934 and Nick Davies. Sponsor Andy Robinson was third however the team reported that on their run a valve dropped after three seconds, and decided to swap engines and make repairs back at the workshop. Jean Dulamon had problems at the end his qualifying run as well and we will see if the team have been able to fix them.
The bike classes were great with a new PB for Top Fuel Bike racer Rene van den Berg of 6.05/246.37, a new PB ET for Funny Bike racer Lorcan Parnell of 6.549 and a quickest ever side by side between Super Street Bike racers Daniel Lencses and Steve Venables both in the 6.7s zone and Daniel with the first half of new ACU ET and speed records.
