Martin Hill then came out with Fireforce 3 Jet FC, the new tailpipe sounding different, 6.5960/146.19 checkout, 1.1556 to 60ft and 4.1488/201.40 to half track.
A few pairs later the TC-X electric car of Jan Lars, teammate to Hans-Henrik Thomsen. He ran 1.2377 on launch, and 10.4301/85.2 on his checkout pass. The sleek machine is powered by two fork lift truck motors and has run a best of 7.98/275kph

Nigel Hale and Paul Morton first, nice mid-nine run for Paul. Elliot Day v Ash Cooper who was runner up in Pro Street at Doorslammers, Elliot not quite up on boost in his run. Then the beautiful Chevy 210 of Antony Wilkins vs the Ugly Sister of Andy Bond who got to the finish line a bit quicker, Butch Wilkins aiming to qualify going less than 13.5s which he did. James Murray's LS Cortina next, then Mark Sheridan's Cuda, build up of boost and broke the beams before launching to a run about 3s more than it could have been.
Commiserations to Nick Hale who won't be racing this weekend as he is recovering from a broken arm, thanks to Diana for the info.

Good to see Richard Willcox back, the car moving around in his lane after a stage foul, Ellie May Brown.
Chevrolet Checkett and Nieve Deevey next, Harley Coulsell v Freddie Taylor who pulled a cherry, Ted Sullivan v Mackenzie Love, both reds, Daniel Todd v Ada Cassisi, Lara and Jacqueline Bartlett, then two singles with Grace Smith and Harry Peters. Harry and Damion Redshaw next flying VP Racing Fuels colours as well as Odyssey Batteries. The class is a few short today due to school attendance.

First pair out John Tebenham, pushed back allowing Collin Morrice to single for a breakout. Then Nick Good in the NG Motorsport Lucas Oil dragster (ten years of Lucas support to the team) alongside Joe Kellett who was quite a way off his dial-in. Next Dave Russell against welcome visitor Thomas Haas who we saw in Doorslammers, both breaking out by 1/100th of a second. Then Mark Bailey and Lee Darby, Lee without nitrous on this run.
Phil Toppin and Christophe Burfeindt next, Phil into #1 with +0.008 on his dial in. Bob Doyle vs Jack Brewster, Jack's Firebird again making a move to the left after 200ft, and Bob breaking out. Then Ron Bartlett alongside class newcomer Rob Brown who usually runs in the Wild Bunch and will be appearing in next weekend's Nostalgia Nationals.
Mark Turner alongside Kieran Ashley next, Kieran with a refreshed turbo LS engine but slowed after a 1.205 launch. Next Scott Hauser and Barry Giles, Scott to #2 with +0.002. Then a northern based pair, Mark Flavell in his Funny Car alongside Perfect ET sponsor Andy 'Fadster' Hadfield with Twister, probably the first time we have seen a back-up person taking video of the process, Thomas Cook Abbott the videographer/backup guy. Great run for Mark, 7.1520/181.39 (1.0205 60ft, 4.5085/152.57 to half track) as Andy got off the throttle.
Ash Bell back in the Firebird after AC's drive last event, pushed back giving sponsor Pete Walters the single, 7.6101 perfect ET to win the Perfect ET award sponsored by Andy 'Fadster' Hadfield and the Twister race team. Class newcomer Mark Todd and Brian Pateman celebrating 40 years in the sport next. Then Callum Swinchatt, nice straight run followed by Ash Bell for another try, broke out.

Good morning and welcome to the first day of the 2022 FIA/FIM-E Main Event, the first time this event has been run in the last three years. The weather is off to a great start with just a few high clouds and temperature 12C rising to 18C with wind 20mph from the west. Density altitude is forecast to approximately 650ft at 10am rising to 1150ft early in the afternoon, information courtesy of airdensityonline.com.
Yesterday's test session was abbreviated by rain and wind, in the adverse conditions only a few were able to make runs before the wet stuff returned in force. You can nevertheless see our report and photos to see who did what. Thanks to Julian, Diana and Bob Roberts for supplying pictures.
Today will consist of five rounds of Sportsman car qualifying, no bike qualifying as FIM-E starts tomorrow. If you read yesterday's news update you will be aware that defending Pro ET champion Lee Huxley won't be racing due to mechanical issues found at Doorslammers, we wish Lee all the best for repairs before the next championship round. Also amongst regular racers we won't be seeing Tom Atkinson who is awaiting delivery of a replacement engine.
