Ross Morrison 7.744/177.82 v Steve Woods 14.8211/45.03 with problems and idling down the second half.
Margot Schmidt v Al Morrison Jnr whose rear wheel stepped out on a 7.357/205.12. Mark Hope on a bye, 7.192/199.76 with a missed shift along the way, nice run. Steve Venables NTR v Jake Mechaell who clicked early to 8.300/115.65. Mogens is 2nd alternate.

Rikard Gustafsson v Mark Smith 6.8050/198.91. Rikard shut off after the burnout with a leak, to see Mark run a new PB and qualify, 1.0931 to 60ft, nicely corrected when it tried to go left, 4.3694/164.16 to half track.
The race director has decided that qualifying session 8 for Sportsman cars will now take place tomorrow morning.

Martijn de Haas 6.9510/192.07, full pass sounded laboured, a breather pipe came off the bike on the run, 1.2608 to 60ft and 4.5711/168.39 to half track. Chute deployed slightly early but nice run.

Jan Ericsson shut off v Bobby Wallace 6.6970/233.66. Jan shut off and pushed back after the burnout. Bobby's first pass as he was shut off for a fuel leak in session one. 1.0160 to 60ft, 4.5235/166.64 as he pedaled for tyre shake which pushed the car left and had to be corrected. Bobby said "The car was run on the same setup as the National Finals last year, it is lighter than my previous Willys Coupe which makes it change direction more easily but we will get there."
Marcus Hilt 11.5468/63.49 Marcus's first run since Clastres last summer, the car now sporting matt black and gold colours. Marcus launched with high revs and smoke out of the right bank, then it drifted towards the centre. 1.0906 to 60ft for Marcus.

Kev Jenkins 7.639/181.31 with smoke out of the left side v David Smith 7.6818/178.40, nice pair of runs, however David wanted to tune the car to quicker times. Chris Orthodoxou's revs did not rise above tickover on the burnout, Dave Swift running again with nitrous went 7.5751/182.85 as Chris left on tickover and came to a halt around 900ft. Then Matt Peters, 1.1399 to 60ft and the car drifting left and being corrected along the track before he lifted at half track.

This with Hockenheim and the FIA/FIM-E Euro Finals will be Eric's last season and he has one objective: to set a new PB (current PB at SPR 5.1964 and 281.47 mph). Great starter for Eric, 0.9739 to 60ft and 3.5793/220.14 at half track. Eric said he would feed the bike more fuel tomorrow, so expect the time to fall.
Hans-Henrik Thomsen (Electric Bike) NTR Up in smoke off the line, and lifted immediately. The extra power is proving difficult to harness but at least four more attempts.

Mark Flavell ran again against Andy 'Fadster Hadfield, Mark's son Andy told us "We have had niggling oil pressure issues recently and on run one we were down to 40psi oil pressure (should be double that). We realised the oil pump was knackered. So Dad borrowed Sid’s (Martyn Jones) van and drove all the way home to the north east to pick up the spare, turned around came back down and fitted it last night. The car is launching way too hard though, so we're going to put another 1/2 psi in the back tires to see if they will turn slightly and soften the launch a bit." It ran a great 7.0873/183.59 with a 1.0179 60ft (his PB from 2018 is 6.7729/198.96).
Fadster ran a 8.1182/147.61 to place him #29. David Smith lifted to 8.56/147 after lifting at 330ft. Then Martyn Jones went 6.2650/191.37 feathering the throttle (0.9741 to 60ft).

Rikard Gustafsson 5.8340/243.75 bye. Great pass, 1.0035 to 60ft, slight wiggle at 330ft, 3.8586/198.75 to half track.
Dale Leeks bye, launched to 1.1913 then lifted as the bike went rifgr, and crossed the centreline before 330ft.

Chris van Nimmen (HD), Chris riding without wheelie bar side pieces, wheelspin on the launch, revs up then a bang, 1.3362 to 60ft. Chris stopped before the finish line. Pause for retrieval.
Martijn de Haas (PRP) 6.9600/202.57 v Marcus Christiansen (Speedys Racing). Marcus off the line first then tyre spin and a big explosion with the rear piston exiting the engine. Marcus's bike came to a halt after 330ft. Marcus got off the bike of his own accord and inspected the damage, and was subsequently taken to the medical centre for a checkup after being winded by the explosion. Meanwhile Martijn went to 60ft in 1.2585, and 4.5850/167.81 to half track, through the finish line on full power to go #1.

Martin Newbury (Suzuki TL1000R) NTR v Bertrand Maurice (Suzuki TL1000R) 1.1610 to 60ft for Martin and then displaced the 1000ft blocks as Bertrand pushed back.

Ida Zetterström 4.1427/222.37. Right hand cylinder off on the launch then a flash of fire after the eighth. 0.8759 to 60ft and 3.1670/256.63 to the eighth, a strong start but we fear some engine damage for the team to attend to. Despite the cylinder out, Ida did a great job of keeping the car straight.
Antti Horto NTR vs Susanne Callin 4.3884/183.57 Welcome to former Joe Amato crewman Jimmy Walsh helping on Antti's car. Susanne staging slightly to the right side of her lane. Susanne left whilst Antti didn't move, Susanne moving slightly to the left but she kept on it, 0.8442 to 60ft and 3.2077/215.84 to the eighth, then an explosion and track inspection.
As Antti had not taken the green he was given an opportunity to restart.
Antti refuelled and restarted, straight into stage, no burnout, and the inevitable tyre spin on the launch 1.3252 to 60ft and 13.4771/58.21 to 1000ft. No damage though.

Jon Webster (Mustang) shut off vs Nick Davies (Firebird) 11.8473/86.03, Jon pushed back after the burnout with a problem. Nick lined up perfectly in his burnout tracks, shake off the line to 1.0577 at 60ft and then a bang as the burst panel went and the engine shut off.
Bobby Wallace (Camaro) shut off vs John Tebenham ('53 Corvette) 6.2064/234.83 Bobby shut off after the burnout for a leak, JT had a gentle 1.0846 launch then went straight to 4.1063/184.35 down track, nice easy pass to go #2. Pause for clean up.
Marck Harteveld (Superbird) NTR v Jean Dulamon (Camaro) NTR Marck back for the first time since 2019. Marck rolled through stage before the tree ran, causing Jean to leave in reaction. Marck slowed as Jean went around his lane with tyre shake, getting close to the centre line.
David Vegter (Camaro) 15.5331/50.18 v Jan Ericsson (Camaro) 18.0265/43.67. Jan, dominant victor from Doorslammers last weekend (4 back to back 5.8s) synchronised tyre spin shake on the launch, 1.1028 to 60ft for David and 1.0647 for Jan.

Great to see Sandro Bellio back after missing the last couple of years at SPR, checkout pass to 0.9653 with severe tyre shake before then, car went to the left almost from the off, and he lifted to 13.5024/56.81.

Great to see Kev Jenkins back after installing a replacement engine following catastrophic block damage last weekend, alongside Luke Stevenson trying to run 8.88 to get Paul Jackson a tattoo. Kev lifted off as it was a checkout pass. David Smith 7.6837/177.81 next alongside Simon Crowley puff of smoke and lift off to a 12.843/68 for Simon.
Next a team matchup between Dan Williams (Chevelle) 9.974/129.03 to improve and Spencer Tramm (Camaro) 11.031/116.52 both stayed in position. Then Nic Williams improving to 11.082/116.69 and Jordan Payne, shake for Jordan 8.217/119.28. Then a class change for Dave Swift to B/NA (with nitrous switched on now) to the left after 60ft and lifted alongside A/A Robin Orthodoxou 7.0513/191.37.

Problems for Steve Ashdown's Shockwave team getting the Undertaker FC fired up, so a single for Jason Phelps in Gladiator, throttle stop came off as he burned out but caught it in time and blipped the throttle before the motor zinged. Up in smoke on the launch, 1.9555 to 60ft, Jason idled down the track, the car sounded great but clutch timers clearly came in fully on the launch.
The Undertaker team, fuel system fixed, burned out followed by Kevin Kent in West 10/GSI Insurance car in the left (Kestrel) lane. Kevin with 0.9792 and 3.6557/198.74 to the eighth, Steve with 1.0124 to 60ft and 3.8355/165.11 to the eighth with cylinders out along the way.
No Kevin Chapman this session, he will be appearing later.

First pair Antony 'Butch' Wilkins and Nigel Hale, Nigel running without Procharger, Butch into 12s with his all steel Chevy 210. First run this event for Al McSweeney, broke loose at 60ft but got back on it as Paul Morton ran another PB. Andy Bond v Ash Cooper, Andy to 60ft in 1.1917 and then lifted to 8.204/119.51. Great run for Tony Higgs, 7.8606/179.94 for a new PB after a softish 1.3116 60ft, well done Tony! Short break for track inspection and cleanup.
After the restart the sole remaining car of Elliot Day ran a 9.7663/139.97.

Breakout 8.79/152 for Martin Curbishley supported by Fix Auto of Penzance, following a nice wheelie on the launch. Then Darryl Howells v Leah Kellett, 8.95 against 8.87 and no change for either. Last car Richard Tunstall, 8.78 PB for him as Allan Schofield moved up from #8 to #6.

Jens Konnecke ran his first seven, 7.9482/170.44, well done Jens and team! More breakouts for Thomas Haas and Dave Russell, Kie Astley, after problems with a boost controller, has bypassed his turbo so running motor only, 9.431/141.56 vs Steve Johnson who had a wiggle at the top end to 7.822/118.05 (4.513/158.46 to the eighth). Lee Darby up from #21 to #18, running without nitrous so far this event.
Andy Hadfield pushed back after the burnout, having had new wheelie bar brackets installed yesterday evening. Ashley Bell got close to the centre line, followed by John Tebenham back in the eights with the Crew Killer 8.937/148.60, still not having run the magic 150. Nick Good ran +0.008 but stayed in #5. 8.20/159 for Brian Pateman, huge breakout but great run. Andy Hadfield launched straight, a panel came off the car and the car bounced around, Fadster getting it under control before it went past the point of no return, definitely another feast for the photographers.
Mark Flavell's FC back on track again after a great 7.15 yesterday, alongside Billy Gane. Another big wheelie for Mark and 7.17/182 and Billy up from #17 to #5 with +0.003. Now top 12 less than +0.01! Jack Brewster tried to fight the car's tendency to go left but lifted by half track to 11.081/76. Then Martyn Jones with the quickest car in the class, sounding like the much-missed TMDs, #28 to #25 for him.

Thomas Burblitz and Allan Schofield first down the track, both broke out in the better air. Wayne Hiscock up from #9 to #3 alongside a breaking-out Liz Malcolm. Jon Turner and Dave Rudd, Jon on the bump spot, no improvement. First appearance at this event for Simon 'The Package' Gough alongside the Tesla of Andy Garnett, Simon broke out and went to #37. Dave Fulton with transmission issues on the launch as Will Clark broke out. Bailee Ashdown broke out and went for a big wander at the finish line with the cross wind causing the dragster to move to the left after the end of the banking. Tom Watkins in the Dodge pickup after his own Charger broke, thanks to dad Neill who gave up his drive for Tom to continue.
John Dalrymple broke out by over 0.25s. Gary Carr had adjusted his dial in to 8.96 and ran +0.008, he is in #1 already, Bob Molden up to #16, First qualifier for Guy King who had an engine change over the week, but got pushed back by his Williams Bros team mates. #7 to #2 for Amy Watkins with a +0.0011 run. Wheelspin off the line for Warren Watts who stayed #22. Nick Mugridge sporting a neat air intake on his Junior Comp car. Marc Huxley ran 9.9534/131.38 after installing a replacement MSD ignition unit.

Good morning and welcome to day 2 of our coverage of the FIA/FIM-E Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway. It's a lovely morning with wispy clouds in a mainly sunny sky, temperature is 14C expected to rise to 20C, wind still quite brisk but now from the north west, i.e. cross track. Density altitude has improved with readings of sea level at 10am rising to 640ft by mid afternoon, this information available on airdensityonline.com.
Today's action will be the first qualifying round of FIA/FIM-E competition in some 32 months, this will commence at 11:00 preceded by session 6 of sportsman qualifying. The fields in sportsman qualifying are already very tight, so we will see if they are the tightest fields we have ever seen in Super Pro ET, Pro ET and Junior Dragster.

Greetings to all those who would like to be here but can't due to unforseeen circumstances. Sadly this includes the Nostalgia Funny Cars which have been affected by parts shortages (Apache), a series of broken tow vehicles (Venom) and loss of a driver (Dirty Deeds), we miss you guys and hope to see the class back stronger than ever at Dragstalgia. On the flip side, all overseas competitors have made it to the track despite the draconian measures in customs due to carnet rules, we hope that there will be some relief in this situation soon.
