Track Worx Competition Eliminator qualifying session 1
Drama as Lloyd Perkins crossed the centre line after the 60ft mark the car turning over and then colliding with the right hand wall. Lloyd got out of the car under his own power and is perfectly ok, we anticipate the car is repairable as the accident was not at high speed. Kev Jenkins ran through to 7.7112/178.45.
On the restart the FWD van of Terry Newton and Luke Stevenson racing for Sienna Gibson (see news story from yesterday), then FWD Civic of Ahmed Jamshaid pushed back alongside Nic Williams , then Dan Williams back from Indy v Spencer Tramm in memory of the late Merrill Schrimscher, a small part coming off Spencer's car. Robin Orthodoxou v Rene Ehrismann from Switzerland, now in CN/A after the addition of some weight, Rene's car moving slowly off the line and idling down the track.
Followed by the two Pro Mod spec cars of Chris Orthodoxou (AA/PM) and Paula Atkin (AT/PM), smoke from Chris at the top end, and no chutes for Paula who went into the field a little. Pause for retrieval of Paula's Mustang and cleanup in Chris's lane. Chris and Rene DQ'd for not being weighed after their passes, Chris commenting that his Viper was leaking oil after a rod had let go so opted to drive around the weighing area.

Good morning and welcome to day 1 of our coverage of the 2022 FIA/FIM-E European Finals from Santa Pod Raceway. It rained overnight but thankfully stopped a few hours ago and track drying is well under way and the crew working hard for a 09:30 start. The skies are mainly cloudy with temperatures of 14C rising to 19C and wind 11mph from the south. Density altitude is expected to be in the range of 1400-1800ft with around 75 grains of water.
We have sportsman qualifying today with five sessions if all goes to plan. Yesterday's testing was attended by a select number of racers, you can see who run from our report via the Event Index, with galleries from Julian and Diana. Highlights included full bore testing passes by Super Street Bikes with Daniel Lencses going quickest followed by Mathias Bohlin, numbers 1 and 2 in the championship so we suspect some mind games going on there. The sole Pro Mod testing was Roger Johansson who now has a convertor rather than a clutch and the end result was a highly satisfactory early shut off 6.25.
