Steve Moxley tells us that Martin, back on his usual red machine, has an ex Robert Karlsson V&H engine which necessitated a trip from his Peterborough base to Storvreta in Sweden to collect it between events.

Susanne Callin strong nitro funes on the burnout then shut off by chief starter Ian Marshall for spots of rain. After a couple of minutes during which the nitro in the cylinders was cleared, Susanne was refired without a burnout and clicked the engine at 330ft with 0.8710 60ft and 3.8584/134.03 to the eighth, 5.8040/110.05 to 1000ft.
Next after a pause, Ida Zetterström and Antti Horto, both up in smoke off the line, no times or speeds recorded so Susanne is in #1 spot.

Tony Betts engine zinged on the 1st to 2nd after tyre shake 1.0526 to 60ft and 4.9851/153.12 as he got back on it on his bye run. Wendy Baker stopped at burnout with oil on the track. Pause for cleanup. Wendy and Paul Harris will receive the ET of the slowest time plus 5 seconds (i.e. 12.5862s).

Good morning and welcome to day 2 of our coverage of the 2022 FIA/FIM-E European Finals from Santa Pod Raceway.
Yesterday was an extraordinary day with the passing of our beloved Queen and, at almost the same time, the death of Jon Morton who was so highly respected in UK drag racing. That Jon will not be able to accept the formal appreciation of his peers for the effort and time he put into the sport is a matter of great regret. The manner of his passing was tragic indeed. We send our deepest condolences to Jon's friends, of which there were many in the racing community, and to his family.
Former Pro ET racer Dan Page who was in Jon's close family circle, has written in saying "Today we all lost a true friend. Whether you raced two or four wheels, you would at some point crossed paths with Jon. A larger-than-life character and always the host! He passed away doing what he loved at the place he loved. He'd just completed a Super Gas qualifying run and had made it back to the pits and but sadly suffered a heart attack.
We can't thank all the Marshalls and medical crews enough for all your efforts. We will of course update you on funeral details as when they’re arranged."
Life goes on, and so does sport. The nature of this weekend's international event, the first FIA/FIM-E European Finals to be held at Santa Pod in three years means it is the right decision for racing to continue, albeit with a sombre tone. So the music on Nitro FM is a degree more serious in content and there will be no adverts broadcast today. Flags at trackside were lowered to half mast immediately racing was prematurely concluded yesterday as a mark of respect. There will be other changes to the programme which we will announce in due course. The Pro session will start around 11:30am following a dedication. In the meantime our coverage will be in memory of the late Queen and Jon.
On this sad morning the weather is dry with temperatures of 13C rising to 18C. The wind has changed direction and is now from the north west at 11mph. Density altitude is predicted to be in the range 1250-1650ft and water grains 73-76.
Due to rain qualifying was restricted to one session of sportsman yesterday, there were a couple of on track incidents involving Lloyd Perkins (car rolled after 60ft) and Paula Atkin (no chutes and car went into the field), also Chris Orthodoxou suffered a major mechanical failure with broken rods, damaged block, broken crank and severely damaged sump and visitor from Switzerland Thomas Haas who has suffered severe engine damage. We send our best wishes to all racers who suffered damage and hope you can get back on track soon.
