Second attempt for Barry Woodford with his backup person, into #17, then Rob Nixon refired and 9.853/137.70.
Ben Montgomery in his show quality car made a 12.490/109.51. Paul Watson 12.424/109.11 v Ian Tweddle improved but stayed in #15. Wayne Power improved v Gary Bird on his first run into #5 with a great run. Simon Barlow improved to #3 as cousin Nathan from the US once again towed back to the pits without a time on the boards. Last pair of cars Jedd Guy v Colin Millar, synchonised burnouts and reversing from the good friends, first time out this season for Jedd. 7.080/192.12 for Colin, 1.1113 to 60ft and 4.5535/157.34 as Jedd's car rolled the beams and no time recorded. Then Lee Taylor's brand new Anglia pickup, very neat car, checkout pass for him as a completely new build.

Nice pass for Steve, his testing yesterday having given him a decent baseline, 1.1967 to 60ft and 4.7527/156.30 to half track.
Followed by a checkout pass for Ricky Gowen and the Cannonball Plymouth Arrow (the body from the original Tre Kronor, we were informed by Lee Child) and 15.587/61.11 on methanol.

A special moment first as there is a guard of honour for John Hobbs on Olympus v Dave Clee on Shotgun, both with their final runs of their careers. A solo run for BDRHoF member John Hobbs to 11.2261/133.36 on his first pass since last year on the throttle right to the finish line. Well done John and a long and happy retirement, undoubtedly we'll see him at future events as a guest of honour. Dave was refired to go 12.062/132.44 on his 875cc Triumph.
Sheelagh Neil on the Methanon sidecar a few years back said "I'd rather be riding', Cheryl Hobbs said "Thanks to everyone, there is sadness today but all good things come to an end, John would have liked to have gone quicker and he maybe will come back and make another run."

Des Taylor (Thundergod 23T) v Ian Kerr (Live Flames 33 Plymouth), first time out for Ian's new car with a 572ci engine, tyre shake and a great drive to keep in his lane. Next Gary Parkes (Purple Daze 23T) 7.446/178.54 v Steve Wright (Fugly AMC Pacer) who rolled the beams and then drama as the car suffered an engine explosion just past the eighth and Steve was skating around in his lane, keeping it upright and coming to a halt just before the gantry. Safety crews were deployed so we are on hold for a while. Steve was perfectly ok and out of the car to receive a checkup from the medical team for minor burns.
On the restart, Keith Freeman (El Loco) 9.462/145.70 v Jim Tucker (Hellfire Hemi) 8.834/152.61 new PB by a thousandth, well done Jim! Then Ian Merryweather in the immaculate Banzai Topolino running an iron 392ci hemi now, 8.317/174.40. Followed by Roy Wilding 4.934/178.54 v Jim Usher, first seven in three years for Jim, 7.975/170.46 (PB 7.6780), 0.0397 margin of victory to Roy, great race. Then Leo Knight, restarted to a new PB 7.727/155.76 (143mph at half track), well done Leo and team v Mick Taylor in Paul Watts' Advanced Automotive '57 Chevy (originally called Agamemnon but renamed some years ago) 9.092/144.84.
Then James Charman with the new Norm Wheeldon built slingshot, Norm guiding the car into stage, quicker pass 8.797/108.51. Norm said "Nigel Charman worked on me with the twin and owns my old rear engine car, we built this car to go to Bakersfield."

Good morning and welcome to day 2 of our coverage from Dragstalgia, it's slightly cooler than yesterday at the same time down to cloud cover I suspect, and conditions still look great for racing with temperature 17C forecast to rise to 24C and wind 11mph from the north west. Density altitude supplied by airdensityonline.com is forecast for 800ft to 1400ft.
It was a cracking day of run what ya brung and class qualifying yesterday with the high points coming late in the day. Ricky Gowen brought out the Cannonball Plymouth Arrow (ex 1980 Don Pruhomme Army car) which he had restored to the same condition as when Bill Sherratt (who is also here) won the first Cannonball race in 1981. In performance terms Colin Millar on the last run of the day made his first six second run in Outlaw Anglia, 6.9851/194.56, well done to Colin who has been saving up his nitrous for this event and used it to great effect.
Today we have the next three class qualifying sessions, with sessions from the Custom Car Invitational run what ya brung, announcement of British Drag Racing Hall of Fame 2022 inductees, BDRHoF auction, Cracklefest and Fire Burnouts, action starting at 09:30 and carrying on until 20:00.
