Kev on the throttle all the way and amoke as he crossed the 1000ft mark. +0.1050 to +0.1177 RT advantage for Kev, then .9268 to 60ft and 3.4467/246.64 to the eighth, Steve blacklining to the eighth at least 0.9995 to 60ft and 3.6546/226.27 to the eighth for him. A great show and the best funny car race at Santa Pod for some time.

An attempt to restart the Mental Breakdown engine proved fruitless, but we hope to see Wayne back to achieve his targets of 6s and 200mph soon.

Andy's team had found a hairline crack in the burst panel on firing up for round 1 hence the stage and shut off. Great run for Andy, +0.0420 RT, 1.0131 to 60ft and 3.9340/196.15 to half track. Annie suffered problems with flames out of the header after a +0.0238 RT and 1.2580 60ft but the car slowed to a halt just after 1000ft.
Followed by a time trial for Michel Tooren, brief pedal to 6.3129/205.10 wiht 0.9835 to 60ft and 4.1111/181.88 to half track.
Then Jon Webster who missed round 1 due to a couple of car issues came back and ran 6.5536/223.31, 1.1356 to 60ft and 4.3592/175.63 to half track, the staging process completed satisfactorily too.

Susanne Callin: 5.1795/135.64, 0.8730 launch but shook and lost traction at 250ft, 3.5801/161.24 to the eighth. Susanne will next be competing at Tierp and then Hockenheim during August, good luck to Susanne and her RFM team.

Steve waited for Jason's team to complete pre race checks, Jason away first 0.1045 to 0.1716, and quicker to 60ft 0.9245 to 1.0214, Steve was on it to half track which Jason reached 3.5461/218.04 to Steve's close 3.6576/225.13. Steve's exhaust flames went green indicating a burning copper gasket as he slowed, MOV 0.1293 which equates to 40ft. A great race almost all the way to 1000ft and fantastic show, well done teams!
Jason later disqualified for a 'blue line' violation.
Kevin Kent staged, bye
Just a blip of the throttle rather than a full burnout, but shut down as the timing system went down as he was about to go into stage. Wait for timing system and the engine to be purged of nitro and cooled, done with Kev in position before the startline. Kev staged to save parts and will be in the final against Jason.

Andy ran 8.922/97.08, strong launch 1.041, the car making a big move to the left just before the eighth and 4.555/118.04 albeit dislodging the second block, Andy staying in his lane. The team delighted the car made it down the track after the engine had cut out yesterday.

Good morning and welcome to day 3 of our coverage of Bug Jam 35 from Santa Pod Raceway. The weather is again cloudy with temperature of 19C forecast to rise to 25C with a brisk wind of 20mph from the south west. Density altitude is forecast at 2000-2500 with grains of water around 80, this information from airdensityonline.com.
There was some great qualifying action yesterday, the fields have now been set for the Funny Car Cup and Motorsport UK Pro Modified, in sportsman classes there are planned to be two more qualifying sessions this morning. There were some great runs yesterday, with a few major mechanical issues. VW Pro racers Dave Crowhurst lost a wheel on the launch and was looking for spares from a Porsche 944, Chris Waterhouse put out an appeal for an alternator and Marc Taylor was nirsing a broken engine, VW Sportsman racer Nigel Gregson was after a driveshaft and we are missing a few Outlaw Flat Four cars from the qualifying lists; can they make it out this morning?
