Modurstang Pro ET eliminations round 1
Three pairs into eliminations the rain came again, and we have been called. It would take too long to dry the track and a further downpour is predicted this evening. Here are the three races that did take place. In the event we were denied a Brian Huxley vs Lee Huxley match-up in round one, the first time in British Drag Racing history that these multiple champions have been paired in a championship round, since up until this event they have shared their car. We will post today's pictures when we are back at base.

The session was preceded by a minute's silence for the late Dave Rowlands, fire marshal at Santa Pod Raceway and formerly Shakespeare County Raceway and former Wild Bunch racer who will be much missed by partner Angie Woods, son Warren and the whole UK drag racing community.
Darryl Howells with problems firing the Chemical Reaction slingshot leaving Mark Coulsell to a single 8.4546/153.15. Next was Steve Field on his first timed run, going through with a 9.260/153.11 to third. Bob Hawkins then gave us another whiff of nitro alongside Phil James in the Monza FC. 7.1846/179.18 for Bob as Phil James went #1 with a 9.523.

Vic Parsons up from 10th to 4th in the first pair. Rick Denny from #12 to #1 in the next pair. Alan Medley pushed back for a leak as JAmes Oliver pulled a massive wheelie. Dave Billadeau's new Challenger into 4th on his first timed run. Pete Wiseman's Challenger also on its first timed run went to #10. A pair laterm there was a short pause to replace the 1000ft block. Jim Chandler from #3 to #2. Alan Medley's first timed run put him in 11th. A pair of Superbirds followed however Bob Main didn't stage and was then given the ok, sounding like gearing issues.

Chi-Town Hustler vs Apache, both cars sounding crisp and the smell of nitro in the air. 6.2823/222.21 for Tim Garlick in Apache, 7.7719/120.76 for Paul Harris in the Hustler, incrementals for Apache 1.0610 abd 4.1249/182.50. Paul's engine smoked and he lifted at half track.

John Webster (right lane) with a straight burnout then spun the tyres before the tree, and he coasted to 11.767/123.89.
Nick Davies and Kev Slyfield next, straight 6.9930/224.74 for Nick, wayward and pedalled 6.6140/224.49 for Kev with 4.4394/177.51 half track.
John Tebenham (right lane) soft launch and 6.9221/209.84 to move him to #2, looked conservative but car wandering around a bit.

Banks Night Club Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 2
Steve Woollatt fired up and burned out then fluid was spotted under the engine and he was shut off and pushed back. Next was Neil Midgley with the Cannon Motorsports/Lucas Oil twin, bike sounding strong, launching and lifting at 1000ft to 6.7716/155, 1.0655 to 60ft and 4.1455/177.75.
Al Smith then fired up the Rocket and after a short burnout he went to 900ft with 7.2077/135.63 and 1.1034 to 60ft and 4.2180/170.39 to half track, Al moving on the bike to keep it straight. Then with Frank Brachtvogel bringing him up to the line was Allan Davies, the engine missing on the launch and Allan leaning well to the left, lifting before 330ft to go 14.6712/58.05.

Track Worx Comp Eliminator qualifying session 2
First were Nic Williams and Simon Cowley. Nic taking his SS/KA to 11.77 to maintain whilst Simon struggled off the line. Next Kev Jenkins and Lloyd Perkins, Kev spun the tyres at the hit and got close to the wall before gathering it up, Kevin on another low boost run. Next Dan Williams and Robin Orthodoxou, Robin bouncing his way down the track and lifting whilst Dan went 11.64. Then Elaine Hancock with the Zephyr, apparently her view is better with the blower hat than the hood scoop albeit not completely unimpeded. As well as Dave Smith, Wayne Allman was in attendance. Elaine was pushed back for a small drip from the breather system.

Purdie Hadfield up from #20 to #5 in the first pair. Ada Cassissi had a -0.0008 light, oh-so-close to the Perfect Light Award but needs to be on the right side to win. Luke Fulton up from #22 to #3 a couple of pairs later. In the next pair Katie Ellis went from #10 to #1 with a 0.0086 RT. Kim Willcox went from #22 to #8. Jessica Bishop up from #21 to #3 in her first event. Freddie Taylor up from #23 to #3 in the next pair.
Harley Jay Darby's car pushed back with engine problems and in the next pair Luke Mugridge went from #24 to #3. Mackenzie Love's first run put him into 16th.

Peter Nee Super Pro ET qualifying session 2
At the start of the session Colin Theobald paid tribute to Roger Gorringe for covering the sport for 50 years.
Phil Toppin pushed back for a fluid leak, then John Tebenham's engine zinged leaving the line and the Pop stopped at 60ft, being pushed back by his crew. #1 qualifier Dave Russell next against Tom Atkinson, Tom up from 10th to 7th as Dave broke out. Followed by Billy Gane and Callum Swinchatt, smoother run for Callum and into #1 with a 8.9528 ET. Andy Bond slowed after a strong launch as Bob Doyle went 8.97 on 8.99 to remain 12th.
Sponsor Peter Walters then against newcomer Kieran Astley's unpainted dragster, Kieran up to 4th and Pete from 11th to 1st, pole changing a number of times in this session. Two more dragsters next, Laura Turburville and Nick Good. Laura pushed back after losing fire and Nick soloed to 7.626 to take him from #16 to #3. Then Dave Bailey and Ashley Bell's doorslammers, Ashley Bell into #1 with a 8.717 on 8.70.
Ian Brown and Scott Hauser were next, Scott going 7.464 on 7.46 to become the fifth racer to be #1 in the session. Brian Pateman moved from #13 to #8 and Laura Turburville then had a second attempt, restarting the engine again before staging, and leaving hard on a 0.0012 RT to move from #16 to #14, closest yet to the Perfect Light Award.
Mick Howling displaying Bank's Nightclub livery for PMR against Phil Toppin, leak cured, Mick up from #15 to #9. Followed by Mark Turner's Supra, loooong static burnout and then 9.4722 on 8.75 to go #18 to #16.

Alfie Wratten up from #22 to #2 alongside a good 8.9s run for Allan Schofield in the ex Conrad Stanley dragster. Bob Molden then rose from #30 to #2. Chris Newsam's first run of the event. Smoke in the shutdown area for Brett Featherstone, spotters checked and minor clean-up ensued.
After the restart two breakouts for Rick Denny and Mason Griffiths, cars much closer to their dial-ins. Ben Newsome up one place to #4. Leigh Morris up from #15 to #8. Chloe Wilkins up from #25 to #16. Perfect Light Award sponsor Tig Napier next against Amy Watkins, Amy with -.002 red light and maintained her #1 position. William Clark up from #25 to #5. In the next pair new Junior Comp car of Nick Mugridge came to the line for the first time in competition, #21 with 10.515 on a 10.20. Jon Turner moved up from #29 to #20 as Lee Huxley's Mustang uncharacteristically rolled the beams. Dave Fulton up to #11, Jon Giles up to #23 concluded the session.

Good morning and welcome to Eurodragster.com's coverage from the final day of the STP Springspeed Nationals from Santa Pod Raceway.
After a test day on which no wheels turned due to constant rain and wind, and yesterday's rain-halted qualifying, the weather is looking much better today with some high cloud and 9mph wind coupled with temperature of 8C rising to 12C. Fingers crossed the wet stuff has departed.
The plan racing-wise is to run the two classes not completed in yesterday's qualifying and then run a full second session of qualifying for all classes, before eliminations commence. It will be good news for teams who were still in testing mode yesterday following the loss of Friday and for all racers to have at least two chances of making a run. The track crew have been working hard on getting the surface sledded and glued and the indications are for a start at the scheduled 09:30.
