Bobby Wallace 8.9821/105.30 Bobby burned out but the engine wasn't happy and was pushed back. On the second attempt, he went 1.03 to 60ft, car made a move at 200ft, he pedalled and got back on it to get into the ladder.
Nick Davies 6.2696/206.19, good run, 1.0057 to 60ft, 4.0508/182.04 to half track, slight wiggle and easily corrected with slightly early shutoff.
Andy Robinson 7.3402/138.54. Working and very bright brake lights for sponsor Andy, softish launch and lifted at 1000ft. 1.1153 to 60ft and 4.5418/175.78 to half track.
Jon Webster Great to see the Mustang back after damage earlier in the year. Great burnout, car wouldn't bump into stage, bit of a backfire, but no times as he wasn't in stage. He will have some data to work from though.
John Tebenham 6.4270/226.92 vs Kev Slyfield 6.1682/232.56. Short burnout for JT and crew chief Ricky Packham ok with that. Great side by side race, .9993 and 4.0433/181.05 to half track for Kev who got close to the centre line at half track and moved around his lane after that, 1.0830 and 4.2521/180.45 for JT.
Bruno Bader 6.0659/228.17 vs Jean Dulamon 6.5141/229.04. Great run for Bruno, .9757 to 60ft and 3.9463/184.21 to half track, 1.0501 for Jean with 4.3654/178.35 slower half track by three tenths as Jean's exhausts emitted nitrous boosted flames.

Spencer Tramm vs Dan Williams, both stay in position with Dan improving his ET. Kev Jenkins next, the ET down from his previous run after a slight bog on the launch. Next Dave Swift and Rob Smallworth, Rob restarting before reversing after his burnout. Big wiggle for Rob at half track and for Dave before half track, Dave improved his time but not position. Luke Stevenson next, DT/D index of 7.52 a bit of a challenge for the car in its early state of development and improvement for him but stayed in position.
Next Dave Smith alongside Elaine Hancock, Elaine's Zephyr spinning the tyres after the launch and Dave running a softer pass, neither improved. Then Nic Williams vs Jordan Payne. Jordan 7.5174/181.97 and Nic improved to 8.6636/157.35 to consolidate his #1 position. Robin Orthdoxou last, great launch to 7.1052/190.40 with -0.0010 RT and 1.0943 to 60ft. Dave Swift later found to be under weight and runs DQ'd.

Rocket Bike exhibition.
Eric with a new setup, bigger blast of smoke before the launch, then 5.7521/197.12, 0.9748 to 60ft and 3.6316/218.94. What a checkout pass, quickest pass of the weekend, and that coasting just after half track! The announcers remarked Eric had not fuelled the bike for the full quarter as he has to use all the fuel on the run.

Fuel Funny Car qualifying session 1.
Kevin Kent 6.5364/107.04 vs Steve Ashdown 12.2832/70.51. Steve burned out first, Kevin lifted and got back on it on the burnout, worried the revs had got too high, quick reactions. John Spuffard in attendance, quick to spot the chute pin had not been pulled out and rushed to do so. Kevin on throttle until 300ft when smoke appeared and kept on it for a little longer, 1.0860 to 60ft and 4.5151/127.55 to the eighth for Kevin, up on the tyres immediately for Steve and 1.3524 to 60ft and off the throttle immediately.
Jason Phelps in the rebuilt Gladiator next, brand new carbon body, the paint a work of art, Mark Hawkins overseeing his crew. The engine fired after being turned over a couple of times and Jason also blipping the throttle during the burnout. There was a pool of fluid under the car as it reversed and Jason got the shut down signal.

Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 1.
Antti Horto 7.5717/80.37 vs Susanne Callin 8.7071/79.81. These machines are on a totally different level for noise and nitro fumes. Both off the throttle at 100ft, with huge tyre shake until then. 0.8317 to 60ft and 4.8470/92.35 coasting to 660ft for Antti, 0.8751 and 5.7890/78.70 for Susanne.
Next Ida Zetterström on a licensing pass, left lane, possibly her car on softer settings for licensing, but it's all relative. Rune doing final checks before she launched to a 0.8521 60ft and 4.4650/100.34, 7.1129/81.68 and out of the first exit. Ida stayed with it longer but the tyre shake got worse, and once off the throttle it was effectively the end of the pass.

Improvement for John McLean Jnr to his first seven, well done John, Sean Mills' bike went right and dislodged four blocks alongside Chris Neary who improved. Gear selection problems for Paul Hambidge. Louis Davies and John McLean Snr were the final pair, no improvement. Next up track prep followed by Top Fuel and Nitro Funny Car.

Steve Venables on a 6.9051/217.20 alongside Matthias Bohlin to regain UK authority in the class. Garry Bowe much better to 7.0593/201.56, now running on a methanol setup. Al Morrison Jnr back in the sixes at over 200mph, then Jake Mechaell on the bump of 7.36 had problems and was able to restart, allowing Ross Morrison to run however still not in the qualifying field. Great pass for Steve Mead up to #5.

Roger Moore crossed the centre line and knocked the blocks at half track whilst Lorcan Parnell was pointed towards the wall - and went in that direction, Lorcan recovering with a bit of smoke out of the bike. Great 7.1911/185 for Tony Clark, Phil Crossley very happy with that as Jiri Lukes suffered backfire but no flames. Bertrand Maurice lost fire, Dave Batcheler 1.1739 60ft but slowed a bit to still improved. Bertrand restarted and 1.0619 to 60ft improving his ET. Martin Bishop on his PSB went into #3 and bumping out Jiri Lukes. Mark Smith's first run after a big rebuild following damage earlier in the season, 7.2867/183.59, well done Mark on a new PB!

Breakout but new PB for Mark Coulsell, 8.1347/160.72, well done Mark! Peter Walters up from #21 to #12. Kieran Astley to 8.4614/139.14, on the way to something quicker. Brian Pateman with a wheelie, rare for him. Aaron Fensome, off the throttle towards the finish line vs Mark Flavell whose funny car left a trail of fluid which quickly evaporated. Callum Swinchatt into #15 in his first run of the event. Tom Atkinson up from 11 to #5. Mark Flavell got a second chance, 7.707/171.71. Jack Brewster lifted when he got close to the wall to a 10.2, the car moving to the left on both of his runs. Pel Norman with a wheels-up and straight 7.782/174. Joe Kellet's engine died after the launch on the final run. After the run, Chris Grabham had a ride in the two seater, great to see Dave Grabham back on the start line.

First up Bruno Bader in the right Autoglym lane. 6.097/227, straight run, little tyre shake, 0.9713 to 60ft and 3.9666/183.40 to half track.
David Vegter vs John Tebenham, David fired burned out and then the engine cut out. Meanwhile JT ran a single to 6.427/224.58 with shake to 60ft in 1.0585 and 4.2207/174.96 to half track.
Next with David restarted and held for JT, tyres spun before the tree, and blipped the throttle as he idled down the track. An unrepresentative 1.2141 to 60ft and 18.4762/39.90 however great to see David back and much more to come from him. Spots of rain again, tractor deployed.
Norbert Kuno vs Andy Robinson. Great to see Norbert back, having a rebuilt car alongide sponsor Andy's brand new car on his third run. 1.0292 to 60ft for Andy, revs dipping as the clutch was released, car moving over to the left slightly and he lifted to 5.396/96.24 at half track, 10.1361/81.25 at the stripe, Norbert had a cautious initial pass, his first for two years to 11.3076/111.81.

Perfect light for Dan Williams, well done Dan but the money has already gone to Mason Griffiths. Better run from Dave Smith but the BBC engined Jag still having a mid track wobble. Simon Crowley in fluid spill approaching startline, cleanup with 'shoe' necessary, and then we got more spots of rain.
On the restart, Elaine Hancock with a before-the-startline burnout alongside Nic Williams in the COPO Camaro. Elaine with a 0.002 RT and nice 7.9s run. Next Rob Smallworth's (relatively new) Dirty Dawg '55 Chevy (class SM) overseen by Stan Atkins and Dave Swift's AMX (class A/A) with Rob Loaring in attendance. Long burnout for Robin Orthodoxou and relatively quick reverse after getting the A/A into reverse. Bog off the line for Robin.

Bertrand Maurice moved into FB from Pro Stock Bike, great run for him, Roger Moore corrected effectively a directional issue after his launch. Tony Clark with a double step style launch. Lorcan Parnell's engine cut out on the line, good to see him after what looked like a big problem yesterday with lots of smoke, but turned out an oil drain line came off at half track. Stu Crane leaned the bike over and then lifted. Martin Bishop also changed classes from PSB, first outing in two years, slowed down track and lifted.

Tom Atkinson and John Tebenham out first, then Eurodragster.com sponsor Peter Walters alongside Jack Brewster with Dan Holloway on the team, great ET for Jack whose chutes came out very late and he just made the turn at the end; a couple of top end reflectors got slightly dislodged but likely to be allowed as they were shifted by being blown rather than contact. Ron Bartlett went to #1 with +0.003 on dial. Mark Coulsell with a quick dial-in, likely inspired by his run yesterday, and +0.002 on this, to go #1. Ash Bell got a run in despite the engine dying on the line, Ash getting it restarted. Mark Turner's run DQ'd due to a blue line violation (crew member touching car after it had crossed the line). Kieran Astley back with a new turbo LS engine, still in testing mode. Ian Brown double stepped accounting for the long ET. Aaron Fensome in the Fenny Racing dragster, co-driver Saskia and team pleased with 7.277/188.

The rain has stopped and track clearing operations commenced. Two tractors and a sweeper are working continuously, however with the amount of standing water it may be some time before it is ready for racing. We'll update again when the timeframe becomes clearer.

Good morning and welcome to our Friday coverage from the Euro Finals Shootout. The weather here at Santa Pod Raceway is cloudy with a temperature of 18C and a wind of 11mph and drizzle so we are looking at a late start, with the tractor out clearing surface water. We had a great day of test runs yesterday with very little interruption, several Pro Mods took the opportunity to make test passes. You can see all the detail in our report. Today's plan is for five sessions of sportsman qualifying and two pro sessions, with the second at 18:30 including Top Fuel Dragster, Fuel Funny Cars, Nostalgia Funny Car with jets and Eric Teboul on his rocket bike.
Good morning to all Eurodragsterholics, you will see from our post that the galleries were late in being posted, your editor had a chance to be entertained by John Tebenham and his team at the excellent Khandan Indian restaurant in Wollaston for which our grateful thanks. The galleries are now showing so have a look at those in the meantime before racing starts.
Greetings to our regular viewers Bob Roberts who was taking photos yesterday to be uploaded his new Flickr page, and to Kai Plathan who is in Finland with the faithful Otto. We welcomed some visitors from overseas who we have missed over the last couple of years, Pro Modified racers David Vegter and Jean Dulamon among them, and photojournalist David Beitler who is covering his first event since the 2020 March Meet for US magazine Drag Illustrated.
We'll give an update on the weather in a while, but you will be able to listen to Nitro FM in the meantime.
