RWYB racer Joe Gardiner runs this Chevy El Camino SS. He said 'I've had the car for a year, it has a ZZ430 small block engine with Holley 650 carb. This is my third run today and am hoping to do four. I have run it at Dragstalgia and at the Mopar Euronationals and it runs mid 14s'.

RWYB racer Simon Smith has this unusual '54 Ford Skyliner. He said 'I have modified the body to have a Dodge roof fitted otherwise it is stock. It definitely looks the part. The engine is a 440cu in Mopar and gearbox a Torqueflite 727 and it's my road legal driver. I was going to use a nitrous kit but one pipe split and the replacement didn't turn up in time'.

Outlaw Anglia racer Colin Millar is running a new four bar set up. He said 'It drives like a different car but big thanks to Jedd Guy and Shorty’s Fabrication Shop for setting it all up'. The new setup produced some great times culminating in a new Outlaw Anglia ET record of 7.24.

Supercharged Outlaws racer Aaron Windridge is in the Ticki T with a supercharged 350ci engine, set up for instant throttle response. He made a series of quick and straight runs with a best of 7.917/166. Team member Chris Pattinson said 'Things are great, there are no problems with the car and high sevens are where we want to be'.

Supercharged Outlaws racer Luke Watts ran three times with consistent times in the 8.2s at over 160mph.

RWYB racer Justin Woolner's rat rod Vermins Diner, with a Redeck 481 engine and BDS Blower was in the lineup for a run. The car attends charity shows for burnouts and passenger rides and at the strip has run 10.6s at 132mph, before Justin drives it home.

Supercharged Outlaws racer and sponsor of our Perfect ET award Andy 'Fadster' Hadfield has had a succession of burnt head problems. He said 'I now have a set of heads made in China, they are £390 compared to £4600 for heads from the usual manufacturers, and they are of perfect quality and the car performs exactly the same'. Twister made four runs in the sevens today with the last one the quickest, 7.614/164.

Supercharged Outlaws racer Gary Parkes is in his supercharged T and ran a best of 8.409/159 in three runs, although there was some oil spray at the top end getting on his visor and necessitating a short clean-up.

Supercharged Outlaws racer Roy Wilding is running the rebuilt Helzapoppin altered which Sue Coles raced regularly in the 1980s and is now owned by Peter Astell-Burt. Roy said 'We've kept the car the same although we've had to make safety upgrades to SFI spec and there is a new small block engine to replace the old Donovan'. The bubble canopy has gone but the car is a great rebuild. Roy ran a best of 7.927/175 in the final session of the day, but earlier he had got close to the centre line and commented 'I've now bought myself a packet of fag paper'.

Supercharged Outlaws racer Ian Merryweather ran twice to a best of 8.586/121 in the Topolino Banzai. Ian and Roy took the trip to Malta last November to run at the Hal Far track where the fans appreciated the nostalgic cars. You can see video of their Malta runs here.

Supercharged Outlaws racer Christian Zulauf from Switzerland has been slowed by gearbox problems. He said 'I left in first on my initial run on Friday, then in the second run, I tried the transbrake and first gear broke in the Powerglide. So I am doing footbrake launches and leaving in second today. The engine is fine, that was never the problem'. His best of two runs was 7.836/162.

Supercharged Outlaws racer and Eurodragster.com sponsor Bill McDermid of Topspeed Automotive has run his at three events this year, after a six year absence, and the Procharged Camaro has been getting lively on the launch, and made two wheelies on his first run. 'I am trying to run without wheelie bars but it went higher than I was expecting and when it came down the sump was bent a little, and the bumper brackets also distorted. I didn't want to risk running it again if the oil pickup in the sump was damaged, so will park it. It's a great track, and it did a 1.26 60ft time on the rear wheels and made a second gear launch to 8.40/167 earlier in the year. It's fully street legal, and if I can calm it down it will run a seven. Thanks to Fadster and the Supercharged Outlaws for allowing me to run in the class despite Prochargers not being in the rules'.

This RWYB Chevy Nova titled 'Nova King Chance'ran 8.989/150 after earlier transbrake problems had been sorted. It has an engine from NYES Racing Engines from Muncie, Indiana.

Supercharged Outlaws racer Jeff Hawksworth, who has been taking part in RWYBs for ten years, has brought his brand new slingshot here for its debut runs. He said 'The car has six runs on it and was built by Bill Murfin, with paint by myself. The engine is from my Wolseley 4/44, it's a 350ci Chevy on unleaded gas with twin carbs and Powerglide gearbox. But the familiarisation is the main thing for me, everything is new and it is much quicker than my Wolseley. I plan to use the transbrake tomorrow and am pleased to go 135mph this early, and it feels more stable'. Jeff thanks his team Steve Maltby and Neal Plumb without whom he wouldn't have been able to run the car. He also pointed out the 'Na, Wa, Torquin' title on the side.

As well as the packed show and shine area, there was a group of 1930s hot rods which captured the spirit of the era.

Not racing, but respendent in the pits was this 1951 Studebaker Commander, an earlier body shape to the '53 used by Andy Robinson in his Pro Mod, and nevertheless an arresting sight.

On display in the pits is the completed 'Fuel & Guts' nitro slingshot of Luke Felstead, built by dad Bill Felstead of Comanche Race Cars. Luke said 'We will be running it on nitro and I still need a fuel licence to be able to run it. Our plan is to bring it to the Nostalgia Nationals and Dragstalgia next year and at least cackle it. The engine is a big block Chevy 454 with 6-71 blower. The car is modelled on Marvin Schwartz's Anaconda from the '60s and there are some historic touches, including Allan Herridge's front wheels from his Pulsation dragster, a Don Long steering wheel and Raymond Beadle's mask, as well as my Lions jacket. The wheels are Rocket repros, modified to look like Halibrands.' We're looking forward to seeing this awesome car at the track next year.

RWYB racer Paul Riley has this unusual Morgan. He said 'On my first runs I had problems off the line and it was a bit sideways. I've had the car for three years and it was a bespoke built silhouette car built by a circuit racer for hill climbs. Underneath the body is a lightweight tube chassis, and the engine is a Rover V8 with a Quaife gearbox and de Dion 9" rear axle designed for rallying. The car weighs only 750kg and the engine produces 390hp with four Weber carbs. My personal best is 10.97/125, in the past I've run a Mustang and Dodges but I wanted a British car.

Wild Bunch racer Bradley Cooper hadn't been able to make any runs until the afternoon when we saw him in the queue. He said 'I've had electrical problems with the car so have gone back to the old magneto'. Best wishes go to Dad and member of the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Ken Cooper who is poorly at home.

RWYB racer Gareth Kent is driving this distinctive lakester repro, owned by Kevin Bingham. He said 'We had been to Bonneville and just had to build one like the cars they run there. It was built in Kevin's living room from scratch, with a tube chassis, LDV front and rear suspension and a shifter from a toilet flush. The engine is a four litre Rover V8 and the gearbox a Borg Warner 65. We brought the car out two years ago at Shakey but the oil well was damaged so we had to rebuild the engine'. Gareth's PB is 12.48/111 and today he ran a best of 12.56/110.

Wild Bunch racer Ollie H-Smith bought Tony Smith's Cunning Coupe which had been in storage for some years after Tony first brought it out. Ollie said 'We stripped the car down and my team-mate Mark Hartnell, who has encouraged me a lot, rebuilt it and brought it back to life with a 351ci Ford Cleveland engine. This is only our second weekend of running it and it's great to get down to 11.19. The car is like nothing else, it is pure torque, rather like a motor bike, I'd run a street and strip car before and wanted something quicker'. The car has been renamed 'Couped Up.'

Wild Bunch racer Chris Hartnell brought Backdraft back to the track in July at Dragstalgia but it had problems on its runs. Chris said 'We discovered that storing the car with fuel in it had caused the fuel tank to corrode, so we renewed the tank, cleaned out the pipes and got back into the eights on our second pass this weekend'. In running alongside Ollie H-Smith, the team recreated a race from the early 1970s when Backdraft, as Pink Panther, ran alongside the ex-Pete Millar Chicken Coupe.

Outlaw Anglia racer Simon Barlow had run the first half of a new Outlaw ET record with a 7.2237 (previously having run an engine damaging 7.085/192 at the Ford Show). So far he has not been able to back up the ET, but has (on Sunday morning) been able to set a new speed record of 193.72, backed up on Sunday morning with a 192.96.

RWYB Modified Ford 100E racers Tim Bull (pictured right) and Troy Bull are son and grandson respectively of BDRHoF member Harold Bull, first racer to ever run at SPR. Tim and Troy are sharing driving duties in their V8 engined 100E. They said 'The engine is a modular Ford 330ci with EFI and DOHC producing 400hp with another 100hp from a nitrous kit. The gearbox is a Trenec five speed manual and we will operate the clutch changing gears as well as on the launch'. Troy, who works at Haas F1 Team as an electronics technician, ran a best of 10.4/133 on Friday and it was Tim's turn to run on Saturday.

RWYB Modified Ford 100E racer Scott Collin is, with Sean Doyle, administrator of the Modified Ford 100E association. He said 'Sean and I created the group so that members can acquire and build quick race cars using the 100E body. We first came out at the Mopar Euronationals and the cars went as quick as nine seconds. There are about thirty racers that want to run with us. My car has a Chevy 350 with Weiand blower and fuel injection and although it needs mapping it is producing 500hp and has a best of 10.98/123. We hope to improve on that and have got new heads and roller rockers to get us down to low tens next year'.

RWYB Modified Ford 100E racer Sean Doyle has a 350ci stock SBC with nitrous and runs 11s. As joint administrator of the class, Sean is negotiating with suppliers to get fibreglass 100E shells and spaceframe chassis produced creating the potential for teams to build their own cars more easily.

RWYB racer Steve Matthews runs a Procharged Ford Consul (with Zephyr front grille). He said 'I've owned the car for 15 years and it's taken me ten years to build it. I built it all myself at home including the chassis and cage. The engine is an all aluminium Donovamm SBC built by Engine Data Services displacing 406ci with a Procharger and TH400 gearbox and 9" Ford rear. It has been on the street, but doesn't ride too well so I trailer it to the track and then run it on C12 fuel. This gives 1006hp on the dyno compared to 880 on unleaded. I do one race a month, mainly RWYB but they get very busy in the summer so I will get a caravan and do some of the weekend lifestyle events'. Steve has run a best of 9.3/149 and thanks son Regan and wife Linda for their help and support.

Outlaw Anglia racer Dalton Scarlett has bought the ex-Mark Pointer Hooligan. He said 'This is our first weekend running the car. After Mark raced it in Malta it went to Norwich and we went there from Colchester to pick it up. For this race we have taken the Procharger off and concentrated on the setup and it worked well, running a 9.7. Our plan for next year is to run the races in the Outlaw Anglia series'. Dalton, who runs garages in Colchester with his team-mates, thanks Trevor Hirst who helped refit the car after its storage period.

Wild Bunch racer Antony Colliver who with brother Wayne are running this fantastic altered suffered issues with leaks preventing them getting the car to the start line. Antony built the altered and Wayne created the 'Misfit' slingshot of similar nostalgic quality. Antony said 'We haven't run the altered before and our plan is once both cars are sorted to get them both to the track and race alongside one another, and then I will look at fitting a Hemi I have bought'. Also in the Colliver pit is Pete Reeves and his ex-Lee Hartnell altered.

Outlaw Anglia racer Brian Nixon and brother and class founder Rob Nixon are back after a long break with the same car that Rob raced when the class was started in 1992. Brian said 'This is now my car but Bob is driving it as he has done all the work in preparing it. The car is sporting OA48 which is the original number at the start pf the class. It's 30 years old now but we rebuilt it in six weeks. Meanwhile Bob is building a tube chassis car for next year which to run with the class'. Qualifying number 17, Rob came in as an alternate for Mat Cooper, won the first round against a sideways Ronnie Mercer with his best time of the event, 9.986/130 before going out in round two.

It has a five speed Samsonas sequential gearbox originally designed for a drift car, and the carburettors are twin Weber 45DCOEs and exhaust headers are from Edwards Motorsport. Stevie added 'The car is fully street legal'.

RWYB Modified Ford 100E racer Mark Haswell runs a 572ci engine with single Holley Dominator carb and Powerglide gearbox. His PB is 9.611/139.

RWYB Modified Ford 100E racer Sean Doyle who is also organiser for the 100E racers, runs a 350ci stock SBC out of a truck, with a single four barrel carburretor and a 150hp shot of nitrous. Sean, who is an artist and paints classic and vintage cars by trade, gave the car its patina with many coats of suitable paint. He said 'Everyone knows the car by its paint job, so when I work on it and get a fibreglass shell I may have to repaint it the same way'.

RWYB Modified Ford 100E racer Robert White is leading the 100E racers championship and the car has run 11.69/118.

RWYB racer Ian Pearce runs a '71/'72 Buick Skylark Custom ran the car at the track this morning for the first time having imported it five years ago from Alabama. He said 'It has a crate 350ci SBC engine and a transmission supplied by Duncan Watts, and Pro Touring heavy duty shocks.
