17:05 Jon Morton Super Gas Shootout qualifying session 5 Collin Morrice with a great Super Comp run, 8.9322/148.07.
17:00 Secret Worx Comp Eliminator qualifying session 5 Bad shake for Andy Hone in the first pair, shut it off. Improvement for Dirk Peiler but stayed #7. 0.0096 seconds or 31.52 inches at the stripe between Dirk and Jordan Payne. Robin Orthodoxou back into the sixes but stayed #5.
16:55 Lucas Oil Junior Dragster qualifying session 5 First pair and Holley Moore's dragster hesitated passing the Tree, in a geared car you'd have said it jumped out of gear, picked up again but then had to be pushed off the shutdown area. Nicely-judged 7.9018/81.37 for Frankie Fordham. Next pair and Luke Fulton up from #19 to #8 at 0.0283. Chevrolet Checkett and Kai Cooper side-by-side up the ladder #21 to #18 at 0.0534 and #22 to #15 at 0.0471 respectively. 0.0365 good for a move from #22 to #12 for Mackenzie Love. Penultimate pair and Tom Kaye's car made a move just before the eighth, Tom kept hold of it.
16:45 Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator qualifying session 5 First pair and a couple of puffs of smoke from Ash Cooper's motor, in the other lane whatever had ailed Nigel Hale sorted with a 10.6323/132.45. Next pair and a new PB ET for Anthony Higgs, well done Anthony! Mark Todd's tyres spun and squealed at the hit, shut off and idled through. Jason Weir's motor sounded to be struggling to stay list then he tolled through stage and shut off, pushed back. Final pair and Andy Bond blew the tyres off at the hit, a couple of pedals then gave it up.
16:30 Phoenix Personnel Super Comp qualifying session 5 0.0004 seconds or 1.06 inches in the pairing between Ronald Huis and Wild Bunch racer Steve Field, Steve's slingshot was skating in the first half. next pair and Leah Kellett's motor never went back on full power after the throttle stop kicked in. Final run of the session and Paul Hudson's dragster had a serious skate around in the second half.
16:25 Hauser Race Cars/CG Composites Super Pro ET qualifying session 5 0.0074 seconds or 19.88 inches in the pairing between Dave Russell and Eurodragster.com brother-in-law Tom Atkinson, again they were beaten to the front of the lanes. Next pair and Ron Bartlett up from #15 to #6 at +0.0055. Move to the right a few feet out for Phil Toppin in the roadster, off the gas in the second half. 0.0001 breakout for Dave Fulton, 0.27 more inches of race surface and that would have been a Perfect ET. Barry Giles up from #30 to #20 at +0.0406, in the other lane Ashley Bell's Cobra made a move right then left, got off the gas in the second half. Peter lane up from #16 to #6 at +0.0050, Peter's car is for sale and you can see what you're getting for your money. Shake and then a bounce for Mark Flavell in the Funny Car, Eurodragster.com sponsor Derek Flynn on the start line with Mark's team for reasons which careful readers of Eurodragster.com will realise. In the other lane Ian Brown's Camaro looked to be close to the guardrail, put the chute out early. Next pair and a Perfect ET for Billy Gane, 8.4705 on 8.47 dial-in took #1, well done Billy and team!

At the end of the day Dave Catton took a re-run after John Gerritsen's 'chute stopped his clock earlier. No change to the standings as a result. 16:00 Simon has posted a set of pit notes which you can check out via the Event Index. Modurstang Pro ET qualifying session 5 Mike Lacey having broken out on every run today put the chute out and finally went right-side, in at #21 +0.0781. In the other lane a very faint puff of smoke from Zoe Sparrow's motor, word came back that Zoe needed a tow back from the top end to the pits. Perfect Light Award sponsor Tig Napier with a very well-controlled wheelie up from #19 to #14 at +0.0363. #22 to #12 for Will Clark at +0.0188. Bob Molden up from #8 to #3 at +0.0015, 0.0001 behind Amy Watkins in #2 - that difference on the track would be 0.25 inches. Next pair and a bang and huge cloud of smoke from Carl Goldsmith's Golf, Carl pulled over and stopped at the eighth. Dave Crowhurst up from #27 to #13 at +0.0229, in the other lane Stuart Hodgson lost drive at the hit and pulled over a few feet out, pushed back. Next pair and an 8.9025/144.75 on 9.00 breakout for Mason Griffiths.

Next pair and a perfect 0.0006 for Lottie Bradford moved her from #4 to #1, well done Lottie! 0.0621 for Luke Fulton next pair moved him up from #21 to #16. Blue Line violation for Jack Coombs' crew next pair but Jack redlit anyway, in the other lane 0.0069 for Frankie Fordham good for a move up to #3. #13 to #10 for Freddie Taylor at 0.0407, next pair and 0.0381 moved Katie Ellis from #19 to #10. 0.0723 for Mackenzie Love good for one place, #18. Teddy Sullivan and Archie Wray side-by-side up the ladder, #22 to #10 at 0.0354 and #21 to #18 at 0.0617.
That's qualifying cycle 4 done, on to cycle 5 which is currently scheduled to be today's last. 15:20 Jon Morton Super Gas qualifying session 4 Ronald Huis up to #3 in the second pair at +0.0307, in the other lane Brian Huxley's Mustang made a move right about 100 feet out, track checked and all OK. Next pair and Andy Dibley up to #2 +0.0165.
15:15 Secret Worx Comp Eliminator qualifying session 4 Improvement for Robin Sattler to consolidate #1 spot, in the other lane a cough and flames out of both pipes for Rene Ehrismann but didn't move out of stage, cleared up and put in a 7.3175/184.96. A lot less tyre shake for Jordan Payne this time and 7.4997/181.39 consistent with his previous best. A motor fired up then stopped, then refired and round the corner came Chris Orthodoxou in his Pro Mod definitely-not-a-Chevy Viper, running this weekend in Comp. 1.0675 to sixty feathering the throttle passing the Tree, 4.2157/182.04 at the eighth and then into #1.

15:00 Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator qualifying session 4 Quicker yet for Ash Cooper in the Transit van, stayed #6. In the other lane Nigel hale shut off at half track and idled through. Fantastic run for Mark Todd to move him up to #1, over 200 mph again, in the other lane Al Williamson's pick-up hooked up and went, quicker yet. Next pair and Dave Day took off another chunk of ET in his new Willys. Final pair and Andy Bond edged out of stage before the Tree ran, no time.

14:55 Phoenix Personnel Super Comp qualifying session 4 Much straighter run for Darryl Howells, in the other lane an improvement for Ronald Huis but stayed #6. nice 0.0098 RT for Pete Creswell, in the other lane an 8.7052/151.07 breakout but new PB for Wild Bunch racer Terry Clifford, well done Terry, Ruth and team! paul Hudson on and off the gas all the way, in the other lane Martin Curbishley's dragster stopped dead about 80 feet out. Dollies called to move the car. Phil Bennett took the bye, double-step off the line and took #3 at +0.0293. That lasted one pair as Leah Kellett took over #3 at +0.0285.
14:45 Hauser Race Cars/CG Composites Super Pro ET qualifying session 4 8.7333 on 8.76 dial-in for Eurodragster.com brother-in-law Tom Atkinson, Kirstie and John stood looking aghast for a moment. Kirstie recovered brilliantly though, turning round to take us a picture of John Tebenham post-burnout. Twisty launch for Phil Toppin in the roadster, looked to lose drive for a moment. Brian Pateman first up the ladder, #18 to #11 at +0.0180. Great match between Glenn Pallant and Austin Jaques, Glenn up from #32 to #11 at +0.0133 and #27 to #1 at +0.0021. Dave Evans with a 0.0095 breakout, I always like to think that the big Impala is doing it for Ed. Wayward run for John Gerritsen, the usual small moves but then a big move left at the thousand, dislodged the quarter mile reflector and stopped the clock for Dave Catton as well as himself. Steve Saunders up from #35 to #29 by virtue of going right side. Great paired burnouts between Ron Bartlett and Schuby Schubert.

Couple of pairs later and Keith Herbert was pushed back before staging, drove it back to the pits though so hopefully nothing serious. Zoe Sparrow having made a couple of checkout passes to get settled gave it the welly this time and moved up from #28 to #10 at +0.0171 in Paul Brown's dragster. 13:45 Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator qualifying session 3 Big improvement for Ash Cooper in the Transit van and that was with a hundred feet of tyre shake. Next pair and Joe Stevens into the ladder at #3, front end was very light for the first 300 feet or so. Next pair and Andy Bond backed out of pre-stage, one door not properly closed, the crew did the clever thing and waited for Andy to back out to avoid a Blue Line. Small improvement to consolidate #1. First outing for a while for Jason Weir, easy pass planned. Al Williamson got the pick-up off the start line, Jason with problems and then crept up the track with what sounded like a bad misfire, clocks timed out on him.

Tyre shake for Perfect Light Award winner Joe Kellett in an unusual location, 100 or so feet out. Next pair and a nice 0.0098 RT for Collin Morrice. At that point eleven of seventeen had broken out in this session. Front left wheel up and tyre shake for Glenn Pallant and still an 8.6482 on 8.74 dial-in, new PB, well done Glenn, Lisa and team! I knew that run had got Glenn's attention when I saw him put the chute out. Wheels-up launch and #24 to #14 for John Gerritsen, much straighter run this time but still chutes out early. Wayward launch, move right and a pedal for Phil Toppin in the roadster but a time on the board. #24 to #18 for Ashley Bell, left of centre of his lane but stayed with it, in the other lane Bob Doyle's Datsun was trying to go for a wander and twitched a couple of times as he held on to it.

Next pair and something came off Mike Lacey's car on launch, looked from here like the cap of a WD-40 tin but probably not. Carol Goldsmith up from #13 to #7, in the other lane Geoff Cowley into the eights, breakout but PB we believe. #5 to #3 for Keith Herbert next pair at +0.0168. Simon Innes next up the ladder, #17 to #4 at +0.0193, first outing of the day for Vic Parsons in the other lane. Next pair and Will Clark with gear selection issues about 300 feet out, idled through. #25 to #5 for Tim Stanbury at +0.0408, in the other lane Leig Morris broke out by 0.0005 seconds, 1.15 inches more of track and that would have been a Perfect ET. More than Perfect 9.1000 for Gino Bernadine takes #1 and wins him the Eurodragster.com Perfect ET Award supported by the Twister Race Team, well done Gino! Tom Watkins up from #20 to #3 at +0.0050. #23 to #16 for Lee Huxley on a smaller breakout than in Q1. Great to see former VW Pro racer Dave Crowhurst back, now in the Camaro which if memory serves gots back to Rob Long then Paul Jackson. 9.9766 on 9.79 dial-in for his first qualifying pass in the car, very nicely done. Mason Griffiths in at #5, first time I can remember Mason running the rail in competition although have seen him at VW events and Saturday Night Specials before now.
11:20 Lucas Oil Junior Dragster qualifying session 1 First competitive outing for Luke Fulton, rolled through stage and pushed back. Next pair and the same story for Freddie Taylor, also pushed back. Squeaker -0.0029 for Daniel Weir, even squeakier -0.0021 for Archie Wray, but in the other lane a 0.0091 good for #1 for Jaqueline Bartlett at that point. Lottie Bradford shut off before staging, Caitlin Wilson took the bye and took #3 spot at that point at 0.0346. Chevrolet Checkett and Jack Coombs subsequently removed from the ladder.
That's qualifying cycle 1 complete, on to Q2. 11:05 Jon Morton Super Gas shootout qualifying session 1 First pair and Andy Dibley's Camaro was seriously skating so he did the clever thing and shut it off, plenty more goes scheduled today. Next pair and one of Andy Harrison's crew was standing in the stage beams triggering what I would imagine was an apparent guard beam violation.
11:00 Secret Worx Comp Eliminator qualifying session 1 First pair Robin Sattler and Jordan Payne both below index, Jordan driving through shake to get there. Next pair and burnouts of the day so far by Rene Ehrismann and Dirk Peiler, Dirk with overnight work to fix damage caused by a parachute which wrapped around the car in the stiff sidewind. Dirk's tyres up in smoke and the Dart turned left, Dirk off the gas and all ot no avail as one of his crew had committed a Blue Line violation. Clean-up followed in Dirk's lane. On the restart an excellent run for Robin Orthodoxou, approaching the sixes again, in the other lane Kev Perkin's car had the front left wheel up and down and up again in the first eighth.
10:35 Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator qualifying session 1 First pair and Joe Stevens rolled the beams so no time. Next pair and his first Street Eliminator outing for Dave Day with the Willys which he and son Elliott built. Gentle pass to check everything out and already below the class cut-off. Gill medley in her Jeep Cherokee also easily below the cut-off. First Street Eliminator outing for Holly Sanders in Al Medley's Mustang, gentle pass to open her account. In the other lane great to see Al Williamson back in the Howlin' Hauler pick-up, tyres up in smoke at the hit. Final pair Andy Bond in the big Chevy and Mark Todd in the Aston Martin. Andy's tyres up in smoke at the hit but a great pass for Mark to open his account.
10:25 Phoenix Personnel Super Comp qualifying session 1 The breeze is slowly changing direction, going towards rear three-quarter rather than side-on. Already relative mineshaft air and now going towards a tailwind, not difficult to imagine an entire session of breakouts at some point today. Fourth pair and Steve Hudson into #1 +0.0517. Martin Curbishley again sponsored by Fix Auto Penzance, good morning Stuart and guys, but now in Conrad Stanley's dragster. Shut it off early but still broke out... three of nine right side in this session.

Car didn't move on the green, got going after the clocks had timed out but another four sessions today to get a time. Of the first three pairs five racers had broken out. Fourth pair and a check under Andy Thetford's Camaro before staging, all OK. Seven of eight broken out after four pairs. Amy Watkins into #1 at that point +0.0079 on dial-in, first to take a tilt at the Eurodragster.com Perfect ET Award supported by the Twister Race Team. 8.9515 on 9.15 breakout for Jon Turner, I suspect a PB, well done Jon! Huge wheelie for Perfect Light Award sponsor Tig Napier, calmly put it down and carried on.
