Modurstang Pro ET racer Zoe Sparrow is driving the Paul Brown owned dragster having done licensing passes on 21st July. After the licensing pass, she said "I wish there were words to describe the feeling of a trans brake launch, or how it feels to get through the finish line under power, because you really can’t. It is one of those things that to understand you must do". She thanked Paul and his team and Santa Pod Raceway officials for their help and support. Her best pass in the first two sessions was a 8.9466/147.10 on a 9.00 dial in, a lot of racers breaking out early due to 300ft adjusted altitude and a tail wind.

Phoenix Personnel Super Comp racer Phillip Bennett ran a best of 9.079/147. He said 'Although the conditions are great, and the car has a throttle stop installed, my weather station needs more data to help the set up of the throttle stop'. His first run was a 8.807.

Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator racer Dave Day, pictured with son and future co-driver Elliot, has built an all-new Willys '33 Coupe. 'I finished it in 2018 and first brought it to Dragstalgia in July. Elliot is crewing and will licence to drive in 2021. The engine is a different setup to what I had with the roadster, which I still own. It's a small block Chevy with Dart heads, twin 76mm turbos and Powerglide transmission running on pump gas. With the turbos, the starting and staging routine is so different I have had to print it out and tape it to the dash. There is higher rpm in the burnout, the Linelok is different, and the Leash boost controller is currently at very low settings, leaving the line at 3psi and getting up to 7psi at the end'. Dave thanks CSU (Carburetor Solutions Unlimited) for their help in carburettor setup.

Modurstang Pro ET racer Leigh Morris went into number one spot with a 10.103 on a 10.10 dial in. He said 'That's about where we want to be with the car. We refreshed the engine a couple of years ago which got rid of the smoking problem, and also put some Weld wheels on at the start of 2019 to make the car more shiny'.

Modurstang Pro ET racer and Eurodragster.com Perfect Light award Tig Napier had a couple of big wheelstands like last year, and although the car was not completely unscathed, the damage was light. He said 'The first one was our highest this year, but we have put Santhoff shock absorbers on it which dampen the landing and prevent damage like we had to the sump last year. We did use all the suspension travel though. The damage was limited to a crack in our hood scoop on our new fibreglass bonnet and light damage to the diaper which we mended with gaffer tape'. Tig was 15th after three sessions with a 9.532 on a 9.46 dial in.

Modurstang Pro ET racer Mike Lacey also has dampening shock absorbers fitted, and produced some marvellous wheels up launches to well past the 60ft mark. Unfortunately each run was in the eight second range, below the Pro ET cut off, and his slowest run of the first three was 8.996 which placed him 30th and last, with 32 cars entered.

Modurstang Pro ET racer Tom Watkins ran a best of 9.305 on a 9.30 dial in the first three sessions to qualify third at that point. He is fifth in the National SPRC championship and fourth in the UK Nostalgia Superstock SPRC Club championship in his Dodge Charger.

Modurstang Pro ET racer Amy Watkins, sister of Tom, and girlfriend to Harrison Brown, has accordingly had her Firebird lettered 'Thatabird'. After three sessions, she was qualified fourth with 9.487 on a 9.48 dial.

Hauser Racing/CG Composites Super Pro ET racer Mark Coulsell ran a 8.28 in the first session, even with fuel system issues. Crew chief Steve Cassisi said 'It's had gremlins with the high speed leanout and was running two tenths off in the 8.4s, so we took it off. With the tail wind and good air this morning that improved to 8.28, compared to an all time PB of 8.14/159 with the leanout on. Also, Mark had an issue with the car bouncing in the shut-down area which caused the engine revs to go up and we need to investigate whether the gearbox became damaged.'

Hauser Racing/CG Composites Super Pro ET racer Sylvain Nowak has a 'sleeper' C3 Vette and this is his second time at SPR having been to the Main Event in 2018. He said 'I've had the car for ten years and built it all myself. It has a LS1 engine, injected with Procharger and TH400 gearbox'. It also has a surprisingly stock interior for a low eight second car. Sylvain who is a specialist in electronic systems validation at the subcontractor of a major French car manufacturer, ran a best of 8.10/163, and after reducing his dial in from 8.35 to 8.09, ran a 8.16 to go 23rd after three sessions. His crew consists of Yanick, Beranger and Jean-Luc whom he thanks.

Secret Worx Comp Eliminator racer Jordan Payne tested yesterday with the car wandering a bit at the top end of the track. 'We adjusted a few things overnight and then ran our quickest 60ft time and 7.54/179 in session one. Our main change is to run Hoosier tyres after a recommendation from Adam Lambert of Precision Racing suspension'. Jordan then went 7.480/182 in session three for his best time to date, qualifying him third. The team are joined by Steve Clark of main sponsor (and Eurodragster.com sponsor) Nimbus Motorsport.

Hauser Racing/CG Composites Super Pro ET racer Bob Doyle ran well at yesterday's Pro Peak Performance test day and ran 8.75, 8.72 and 8.66. Wife Tracy said 'We were pleased it ran consistently and have team of Wilf, Owen, Roger and Ady with us to service the car and make changes to the nitrous jets to keep it consistent'. Bob continued to run in the 8.6-8.7s range to qualify 19th in the tight field.

Hauser Racing/CG Composites Super Pro ET racer John Gerritsen with the ex Henri Joosten Pro Mod car and new blown engine from Danny Race Cars, dialled in 6.65 but suffered handling problems in the second half of the track, John deploying the chutes early on one run and pedalling on his fourth attempt. His best was 6.709/170 which placed him 21st after the third session.

Santa Pod Raceway owner Keith Bartlett toured the pits in a 1956 Ford Thunderbird. He said 'I've had it made to match the one that was in American Graffiti, including a hard top like the one in the movie, as well as the soft top'. Keith's introduction to the event programme hints that Santa Pod Raceway themed merchandise will shortly be distributed more widely.

Hauser Racing/CG Composites Super Pro ET racer Mari Udtian was in the familiar Islanders car but for the first time in another class than Super Comp. She said 'I want to go faster, and racing in Super Pro ET gives me that potential. We are tuning the existing engine to get it as quick as possible'. She immediately went 8.56 and 8.53 in the early sessions and qualified number six with a 8.6279 on a 8.62 dial in.

Hauser Racing/CG Composites Super Pro ET racer and Eurodragster.com sponsor Peter Walters ran his PB ET in that car (he went quicker in Dave Wilson's A/Fuel car a few years ago). His best numbers were 7.707/170. Dad Richard said 'When we fitted the big block engine our target was 7.7 and 170mph and we're pleased to have reached that. We will run the whole Super Pro ET champsionship next year but we have two Mustangs to race at the National Finals as we have bought another one which Peter will race against Holley'.

Hauser Racing/CG Composites Super Pro ET racer Dave Catton, pictured with Lizz Charman, who is helping crew for this event said that he had another opportunity to drive when the car became available and his safety gear was still eligible for cars slower than 7.50. 'I originally planned to race at only the Festival of Power however I'm delighted to be able to come back and I won't be going quicker than 7.50'. His best was 7.589 on a 7.55 dial in.

Hauser Racing/CG Composites Super Pro ET and Super Comp racer Collin Morrice suffered a problem with their transbrake after the testing day and then realised no spare was in the trailer. He said 'Thanks to my Dad who went back to Linton in Cambridgeshire to get the spare which we installed over night'. Impressively, on its first run with the replacement, it ran a 8.896 on a 8.88 dial in. Collin added wryly 'I suppose it was a good guess and we were the right side of the dial in. At least it was a change from last meeting where it ran consistently slow'.

Hauser Racing/CG Composites Super Pro ET racer Mark Bailey made an excellent start when he dialled in 8.72 and ran 8.723 in the first session. He then ran around the 8.70 area, breaking out a couple of times and ending the fourth session in third place.

Hauser Racing/CG Composites Super Pro ET racer Joe Kellett ran a 7.8542, +0.004 on his dial in, with a perfect RT, for a fantastic performance. He said 'I haven't raced since the Summer Nationals back in June, perhaps a little time off helps'.

Hauser Racing/CG Composites Super Pro ET racer Ron Bartlett ran several 8.4s at low 160mph in the headwind yesterday. He said 'The headwind was really slowing the car down but with the tailwind we have today, my times have dropped to 8.32 with 167 speed'.

Hauser Racing/CG Composites Super Pro ET racer Martyn Jones ran a 6.22/190 on a 6.00 dial on his first run in session two, and then discovered a broken valve spring, entailing further checking of the engine. The motor was back in running order by 2:50pm, so we are hopeful he will return in the fifth session.
