Funny Bike qualifying session 2
Bang and sheet of flame from Dave Peters' motor at the hit. In the other lane a nice-looking run for Dave Batcheler to start with
but motor was groaning in the second half. Next run and a couple of kangaroo hops, bangs and flame from Jiri Lukes' motor but he stayed
with it. Great run for Phil Crossley on the Yellow Metal bike, heading for the centre line and a fag paper away from hitting all of
the second half reflectors, stayed with it and missed them all. Up to #2 into the bargain.

Award of £50. Couple of cylinders out at the hit for Bob Hawkins, cleared but then a groan and a huge cloud of smoke
from the motor at 1000 feet. Safety crews chased Bob down, I am guessing he got a faceful of that. Word came back that
Bob's dragster had tagged the left guardrail, by all accounts Phil James in the other lane pulled off a great avoiding manoeuvre.
Bob was taken to the medical centre to be checked out and then to hospital.
Just before the re-start Dan Boone towed back to the pits.

John Smith in attendance from the USA with both Kevin Champan and Kevin Kent. Sixty-foot burnout for Kevin
C with a big twitch as he got off the gas. 0.9240 to sixty, drove through
high-frequency shake, going great guns whtn one chute deployed about 400 feet out but it wasn't the safety
device since Kevin was still on the gas, 3.7104/161.82 at the eighth with the chute out. Stopped on the
shutdown area but all OK. Steve just starting on his way back from his burnout before Kevin K pulled forward to
the bleach box but all choreographed well as both were back together.
Stev eto sixty in 0.9254, Kevin K in 0.9448, Steve hit shake about 250 feet out and Kevin about 300 feet outm
looked from here like Steve's belt broke. Kevin's tyre tracks show shake then an hourglass at 330 feet, then the car took
a hard left. Kevin K kept a hold of it and put the chutes out, great driving job. Steve to the eighth in
4.0874/130.80 and Kevin in 3.7420/168.89.

a little shake and a move left, 4.4507/166.02 at the eighth. Marck to sixty ion 1.0221, Michel in 1.0302, both then hit shake and both cars
headed left. Shut off pretty much simultaneously as guardrail and centre line approached respectively. Jean's tyres hooked up on the burnout
and the car shot across the start line. Wayne's motor zinged at the hit, lost drive, car rolled forward with Wayne blipping the throttle
trying to get forward motion, shut off and stopped about 150 feet out. Back of Jean's car jumped up, bad shake, shut off and rolled to a

leak. Real good to see Ron Bartlett back with his Anglia, the burnouts haven't suffered from the lay-off that's for sure.
nice 0.0097 RT for Austin Jaques, close to the Eurodragster.com/Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award, but then at about 1000
feet the bonnet came loose and started flapping about, I would imagine from Austin's point of view the lights went out but he
got it stopped without incident. On the restart great to see Dave Catton back on the saddle, breakout but it will have felt
good I'm sure.

the rest of us. Amy and Neill Watkins in side-by-side breakouts. Big wheelie for James Oliver then one tyre
started to spin and the car took a hard right in mid-air, James got it down and kept it off the guardrail.

New boy Teddy Sullivan the first to leave the line in the 2019 UK National Drag Racing Championships.
Next pair and two more new names, Chevrolet Checkett and Purdie Hadfield, the power behind the throone in the
Twister camp. New paint for Frankie Fordham and another new name in the other lane, Mackenzie Love. Next pair
and yet another new name, Kai Cooper racing under the Fenny Racing banner. Great new colour scheme for Kaitlan
Deevey's dragster and a squeaker -0.0068. Redshaw pairing, Damion and Harry, Damion a bit urgent on the line
but plenty of sessions left to go right side. Quick check of the Energy Check lane after Daniel Weir ran, all OK.
