Eibach Front Wheel Drive racer Jordan Keelan went 11.801 in qualifying on his second pass in his Civic. He said 'The car is newly built by me with a turbo B18 Honda engine. I am using Hoosier Street TDs and we are experimenting with tyre pressures, starting with 12 psi. I am hoping for mid 10s'.

Four Cylinder racer Dave Swift has installed a new 2437cc turbo engine in his classic Beetle. 'I have run a best of 10.96/129. The chassis work was done by David Downs and the gearbox is by Paul Grainger of Lagonda Garage in Cleveland. My main sponsor is John Gibson Hire & Sales'.

OCS Big Bracket (Saturday) racer Lee Taylor is in a Ford 100E previously campaigned by Paula Atkin.

OCS Big Bracket (both days) racer Jens Könnecke is a regular racer at Hockenheim and was runner up in the Big Bracket on Sunday last year, running low eights. He ran a 8.19, 8.24 and 8.15 in his first three passes, showing the same consistency.

Turbo Technics Pro Street racer Przemyslaw Komar from Poland has a similar four wheel drive setup to Marcin Blauth, made by VTG. The car has a V8 engine, hence the team title EVOVIIIV8. Best run here is 8.736/150 to make him 2nd, compared with a PB of 8.589 in Poland.

Turbo Technics Pro Street racer Marcin Blauth from Poland has a four wheel drive setup that helped propelled him to a 7.743 at this event last year. So far in the cool conditions he was only able to run a 9.77, but with more to come from the 506ci engine.

Turbo Technics Pro Street racer Zbigniew Brach from Poland has a 350ci powered Fox body Mustang and has run in the low 10s so far.

Webster Race Engineering 4 Cylinder Dave Crowhurst has a new chassis with work done by Car Builder Solutions. At Springspeed a couple of weekends ago there was rear axle damage, which was repaired although the car was going anything but straight today. Best time is 9.908 set last September.

VP Racing Fuels Pro Doorslammer racer John Sleath has been racing his Chevrolet S10 Pickup with 400ci turbo engine for a few years and is running consistent low eights, which unfortunately won't be competitive against the Pro Modified and Top Doorslammer opposition who are mostly capable of high five second passes

Turbo Technics Pro Street racer Dave Mahoney who usually runs in Outlaw Street series, ran 9.597/139 to go third in the category. Dave's engine is 366cu in small block.

Eibach Front Wheel Drive racer Carl Goldsmith has changed the front suspension on his turbo nitrous Golf to be harder, to avoid launch problems. However, breakage problems prevailed with bits of metal coming off the front of the powerful 1800cc car.

Eibach Front Wheel Drive racer Simon Blackburn, racing a 3200cc Seat Leon, has a team mate Kain Kennedy, also in a Seat Leon, who is racing for the first time this year. Simon was the winner at the recent Springspeed Nationals with the car running closer to the tens.

Eibach Front Wheel Drive racer Dave Duthie has a white Nova, sponsored by Powder Tech powdercoating specialists, Evotune Japanese tuning specialists based in Durham. The team, with Stephen Ray, is SD-Autos Racing.

Eibach Front Wheel Drive racer Stephen Ray was class winner last year in a race of upsets with favourites going out early, usually with breakage. Stephen's best times of mid 10s and a combination of consistency and quick lights were enough to overcome opposition which was two seconds quicker. The Astra Van runs a Saab two litre turbo with an output of 650hp and a standard Vauxhall gearbox. He raced recently at the Vauxhall show with a 10.36/140 best.

Eibach Front Wheel Drive racer Brad Morgan in his Renault 5 running a 12.43/113, is sponsored by Serck Motorsport. He said 'I've raced for the last 12 years, gradually lightening the car which has a 1400cc engine. It now can run in the ten second bracket after I added fuel injection, electronic engine management and running on methanol and nitrous with a turbo engine'.

Eibach Front Wheel Drive racer Joshua Holmes is new to racing, having run since June 2018. His Corsa has a turbo Saab engine developing 412hp with a Vauxhall F23 gearbox. His best to date here is 11.883/122.

VP Racing Fuels Pro Doorslammer racer Charlie &Oulm;stedt has owned his Volvo Amazon Estate for seven years having modified it much during that time. Two years ago the six-strong team built the tube chassis which houses the BBC 540cu in engine with 88-91mm Precision Turbo and two speed TH400 gearbox. So far, only testing has taken place at an airport, so running at an event like this will be a great learning experience for the team.

VP Racing Fuels Pro Doorslammer racer Marcus Perman has a Pro Mod Camaro which so far has run in Swedish competition only. He has brought it more up to date for 2019 and now it has a Brad Andersen Series 6 engine, new supercharger and Lencodrive transmission. The team spent Thursday setting up and hope to make two passes today before the cut-off time of 6pm.

VP Racing Fuels Pro Doorslammer racer Pel Norman ran a best of 8.16/170 in the new-to-him turbo Nova, replacing the Capri which suffered damage in the team's visit to Hal Far Raceway in Malta.

VP Racing Fuels Pro Doorslammer racer John Tebenham is concentrating on licencing runs this weekend prior to the Main Event and a possible FIA tour. He said 'I've got help from Andy and Luke Robinson, Ricky from Dave Wilson's team and previous car owner Marco Maurischat and his crew chief Jakob Kaufmann. I've enjoyed driving the Outlaw Anglia, which helped me get used to the noise from a V8, because I've only driven four cylinder cars up until this year'. Luke said 'It's the same setup as Marco had, with small changes to the fuel system. We've put a Racepak on it because we're more familiar with it. We also changed the four link to suit John's needs to get from A to B'. JT has continued with the movie Cars as his cue for car names and colours, with Lightning Strikes Twice on the car's blue wrap and Johnny 'Bee' Good motto on the crew shirts.

OCS Group Big Bracket racer Pete Youhill's 582cu in Firebird, which is seen most often in RWYB events, went testing today, the car replacing his Chevelle which he campaigned at York Raceway. In a losing red light effort on Sunday he recorded an outstanding 8.509/160.

VP Racing Fuels Pro Doorslammer racer Andreas Sjödin was at Santa Pod Raceway eleven years ago, crewing with the Lindberg Bros Pro Mod car. He said 'My Dad had also been involved in the Tommy Möller and Pelle Lindelow Top Fuel teams. The car is the same as we campaigned in Sweden except gear and fuel system changes. We hadn't run the car in the quarter and our best of 3.84 could mean a quarter mile time of 5.84s, which would make it the quickest standard bore width BBC run in the world'. The rear gear ratio has reduced from 5.43 to 4.3 making the engine able to get full revs at (but not before) the finish line. the Lencodrive gearbox now has three rather than two gears. Andreas said Top Doorslammer at the Main Event will be over the full quarter.

VP Racing Fuels Pro Doorslammer racer Andres Arnover from Estonia, who usually runs in Comp Eliminator in Scandinavia, has owned his car since 2016 when it had a 305cu in small block engine. In 2017 the deck height went up from 8.2" to 9.5" with a 351cu in Windsor engine and now has a 427 cu in SBF engine producing 3000 hp with 88mm turbos. Gearbox is a M&M TH400. Best times are 6.06/235mph. He said 'I have the same tuneup as for Comp, and the car is relatively short wheelbase at 103"'. Andres' journey to Santa Pod Raceway took four days of driving.

VP Racing Fuels Pro Doorslammer racer Michael Nord is with long time crew chief Mats Brag. 'It's our first time here with this Mustang, having run here in Pro Mod in 2007 and 2008. I now run Top Doorslammer only, so have had to make changes to the rear end ratio (4.86 to 4.1) and adding another gear to the Lencodrive, which is the transmission of choice in Top Doorslammer'. Michael is running the latest Brad Andersen Series 8 engine and a PSI D model supercharger, recording a 3.88 best. He says aerodynamics are not a problem. 'There is too much downforce already'.

VP Racing Fuels Pro Doorslammer racer Mattias Wulcan has a great partnership with crew chief Pelle Eriksson, whom he has worked with in Pro Mod as well as Top Doorslammer. Mattias encouraged several Swedish racers to come over for this event and the Main Event 'and there are many more who want to come'. The opportunity to race over the quarter, and in back to back events, has clearly proved attractive. There is a motivation for Mattias to return - 'Our front exploded after 53m and we wanted a re-run last year'. As well as repairing the carbon fibre damage, Pelle visited the US to plan a new 521cu in engine which is now in place. Adjustments once again include adding a third gear and reducing the numerical rear end ratio to 3.89 for more mph. Electronic traction control is used, but it is set before the run and is 'not self learning'. What times would it do if it was?

Webster Race Engineering 4 Cylinder Paul Hughes has made a speciality of running fast Hillman Imps. 'I used to have a V8 one, this is a Singer Coupe with a Toyota MR2 turbo engine with MR2 gearbox and suspension components. It's run a best of mid twelves but I would hopefully run an eleven'.

6 Cylinder racer Graeme Cook has a Toyota 2JZ engine in his Mazda MX5, and his 11.726 run is a new PB, albeit some way short of the number one qualifier.

OCS Group Big Bracket (both days) racer Ryan Garrett has a new AMX based on a Autofab chassis, tagged to 6.0, and nitrous assisted 512cu in BBC engine and PG gearbox. He said 'We want to spend this year testing and get into competition next year, possibly with a bigger engine'. Initial runs looked promising.

Webster Race Engineering 4 Cylinder racer Dave Reed has a rear wheel drive converted Fiesta with a two litre Cosworth turbo engine and Quaife sequential gearbox. Jon Webster did the chassis work and the car is co-owned by Dad who is also called Dave Reed.

US videographer Kyle Loftis whose site 1320Video has 2.5m subscribers, is a guest here and will be posting clips of the event that he is taking. There are almost 2000 posts on his Youtube feed and has social media channels too. He said 'It's a great facility, and the size of the event is impressive'. Sadly, Kyle's home track in Nebraska is under 14 inches of water following recent rainfall.

Webster Race Engineering 4 Cylinder racer Gino Bernadine had big gearbox problems last year with damage being caused by issues with the transbrake mechanism. 'We changed the turbo from a Turbonetics to a Precision 68-70mm with more blades and ball bearings, which will help make more power. But we still have to do mapping of the engine and will just drive through and check the fuelling is right on 15lb boost before increasing it'.

6 Cylinder racer Paul Dziubek from Germany is here for the first time and made a great impression by going top of the standings with a 7.978/187. He said 'I usually race at Hockenheim and at the King of Germany race. I've had my GT-R R35 for five years and the output is 2500hp using a standard gearbox'. His run was his first seven'

Webster Race Engineering 4 Cylinder racer Paul Mags has a neat Escort which he has owned for more than 15 years. He said 'The car usually runs 10s, but it broke so I didn't come out much lasty year. It has a two litre Cosworth turbo engine with no nitrous, and a Sierra Cosworth gearbox with H pattern shift. It's road legal and I did all the body work myself as I am a panel beater and sprayer'. Tyres are M&H Drag Slicks.

Eibach Front Wheel Drive racer Michael Clarke has a Fiesta Mk1 which he has owned for ten years. He said 'I have had space frames mounted mid and front, and the engine is a 2.1 litre turbo with 700hp output on methanol. The gearbox is a four speed dog box custom made. All work was done by myself, with Devil Developments doing the mapping. My own company Ignition Advantage has provided electronics and I'm grateful for sponsorship by Syvecs ECU, Airtech for plumbing and intercooler and pipe fabrication, and Zewspeed'.
