We will shortly be seeing Filippos Papafilippou here on the Gulf Oil Dragracing Top Fuel Bike, just planning to pull a burnout - this will be his first time riding the bike. 13:30 VW Sportsman qualifying Big breakout for Paul Saroch, 16.3675 on 17.00, but frankly we can forgive him anything after his fine work plugging our photo galleries. Polly Judge back in the family Corrado (thanks Dad) after problems with her Beetle, no problems with the Corrado as she went into #1 at that point. Recent Eurodragster.com News contributor Lowri Anslow also in a back-up car and into #2 at that point, must be something about those substitute cars. Joshua Simpson's car an early candidate for Best Appearing Car I'd say, in the other lane a fantastic 0.0028 RT for Russ Weir who has also been very generous with the plugs for the galleries, almost £50 better off for his RT courtesy of Eurodragster.com and Bad Habit Racing.

Pel Norman with a huge wheelie then thumped down and shut off, pulled over briefly then drove up the track. Solid launch and run for Austin Jaques in the other lane. Drama in the next pair, after a strong launch Jack Brewster's Firebird moving left and right and then into a pendulum, crossed lanes and then hit the left guardrail just before the finish line. Bounced off the guardrail and stopped by the emergency exit from which the safety crews sped to help. Jack got himself out of the car and walked to the ambulance but after complaining of back pain has been taken to hospital to be checked out. Pro ET allowed to burn out over the start line today to put rubber on the track. First competitive outing for Ben Newsome, has tested here already, -0.0033 RT a fag paper off taking the Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award. Great to see former Champion Al Platt here, we don't see enough of you Al. Drama in that pair as Nigel Green's VW started swaying left and right in the second eighth, eventually getting into a pendulum and turning harder left and sideswiping the guardrail just past the finish line. Rapid reaction from the top end safety crew. Word quickly came back that Nigel is fine. No the restart no movement from Keith Herbert's Fury at the green, pushed back. Next pair and a 10.7083 on 10.85 breakout for Harrison Brown. Great 0.0078 RT for Rick Denny, tilt at the Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award. 10.0481 on 10.80 breakout for Amy Watkins next pair followed by a gusty 10.1797 on 10.25 breakout for Will Clark moving left and right in the second half. No times for Eurodragster.com sponsor Nic Williams and Leigh Morris, timing system locked. On the restart a fantastic wheelie for Dan Williams followed by a 9.7895 on 9.82 dial-in, a new best for that car, well done Dan! 10:35 Lucas Oil Junior Dragster qualifying Liam McDonald first to leave the line in the 2018 UK National Drag Racing Championships, a -0.0675 red but he was the first to leave. 0.0262 for Archie Wray the first legal RT in the 2018 Championships. Great new colours on Frankie Fordham's and Skye Collier's cars. Daniel Weir with a 0.0120 to take #1 at that point, came up on the timing system as Skye Collier but that'll be fixed. Nicely judged 7.9123 for Holley Marshall. Matthew Dowdy's new Gravitas HR-sponsored JMA a very nice piece of kit, with great paint by Eurodragster.com sponsor OCS Paint. Great 0.0060 RT for Thomas Cook-Abbott, close to the Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award and good for #1 at that point. 0.5388 for Lara Bartlett then car stopped off the line, RT recorded though so in the ladder.

Stay tuned. 07:50 Having dried out and thawed out in his hotel Simon has posted a set of pit notes which you can check out via the Event Index. 07:25 Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the Festival of Power brought to you in association with John Woolfe Racing. Cloudy and chilly but dry here at Santa Pod. The racing surface looks good and the usual panoply is on the shutdown area. A big Good Morning to all of the Eurodragsterholics, especially to Kai Plathan and the faithful Otto in Finland and Ivar Kolberg tuned in from Norway. Greetings also to our good friend Bob Roberts who is tuned in from home. This could be a classic day's racing with a one-shot qualifier and then eliminations. If it all goes to plan then Your Reporter will forgive Mother Nature for what she has done for the last few days. The last time we can remember a one-day event in these circumstances is the 2000 UK National Finals, also the wedding weekend of our good missing and missed friend Andy Marrs, to whom greetings. It rained hard on the Saturday and race officials called it at 14:30, everyone went off to Marrs' wedding reception - Your Reporter clearly remembers everyone involved drinking soft drinks all evening - then back we all went to the track on the Sunday. One-shot qualifier started at midday and we got it all the way to the final rounds, six of the finals took place then it rained. That was a long time ago, Marrs' kids are now taller than me, but you know and I know that if anyone can deliver again then it will be the SPRC race officials. We are due to start at 09:00 with Junior Dragster qualifying, no motors before 09:00 so it's a push down at least for the Juniors.
