Duncan hit shake and shut off, Tet going great guns to about 500 feet then looked like cylinders mixed and the header flames went solid yellow rather than transparent orange, shut it off before the eighth 3.6760/166.54. Eurodragster.com sponsor Urs away first 0.1417 to Steve's 0.4295. Urs to sixty in 0.8637, shake and two pedals then off the gas. Steve to sixty in 0.9213 already shaking and off the pedal. Anita away first 0.1134 to Stig's 0.2755, storming 0.8418 sixty to Stig's 0.8576, looked from here like shake for both (difficult to tell as it is quite dark now), Anita off it about 150 feet out and Stig not long after with his flames turning green into the bargain. Micke just away first 0.1398 to Liam's 0.1411, one of the quickest sixturs we have seen in Europe at 0.8378 but he paid for it with shake and off the gas not much further on. 0.8499 to sixty for Liam, stuck to the track just fine, 2.2079 to 330 feet and still on the gas at the eighth, 3.1761/260.12 off it before the thousand. 18:25 Super Pro ET qualifying session 8 Finally, father and son Barry Giles and Daniel Giles go head-to-head. Daniel spanked Barry at the Tree 0.0043 to 0.1446, Barry moved up from #26 to #25 and Daniel stayed #15. Marius Blackburn up from #29 to #24 next pair, in the other lane a lot of smoke from Dave Evans' Impala worsening as he went down the track. Shut it off at 1000 feet and put the chute out. Track checked and all OK, from here it looked like rubbing tyres so hopefully that's all it was. 0.0034 seconds or 9.72 inches between Paul Marston and Thomas Haas in their subsequent match-up. Scott Hauser +0.0099 on dial-in in the last run of the session.

Looked like a deliberately gentle pass for Nigel Hale, hope all is OK. Matt Smith again into the sevens despite a pedal and getting on the brakes before the stripe. Good launch for Martin Smith in the Bentley but then a pop from the motor and stood on the brakes, stopped just past the finish line.

10:40 Comp Eliminator qualifying session 6 Belinda Bull up to #4 with a nice trouble-free run, -0.3674 on index. 7.1713 for Jens Eklund in the other lane. Screaming motor, briefly, and smoke from Andy Frost's Vauxhall, shut it off very quickly. In the other lane Mike Oates got on a serious bounce on the stripe and the slingshot made a big move to the left, looked like Mike had his hands full. Instant shake for Rene Ehrismann, shut off.

Next pair and #1 qualifier John Przybyl went +0.0066 on dial-in. "Hi Mal" on the back of Mark Flavell's Funny Car, we second that, Hi Mal. Soft launch but no bounce this time and the car picked up past about 330 feet. Trouble-free run for Barry Giles also, up from #28 to #24 at +0.0792. Martyn Jones shut off after returning from his burnout, crew noticed something amiss, didn't look like fluid and certainly no clean-up. Jack Brewster took the bye and moved up from #22 to #13 at +0.0075. So right now that's three cars +0.000, ten cars +0.00, and another twelve cars +0.0, awesome! Big nitrous burp for Johan Oomen, blew off the scoop which dangled on its tether, Johan rolled to a halt about 400 feet out. On the restart a great 0.0061 RT for Gordon Northway, in the other lane Scott Hauser +0.0018 on dial-in. Rick Cooke up from #24 to #16 at +0.0188. First outing of the weekend for Jim Draper in the blown-alcohol altered, one chute deployed pulling forward to stage, shut off. Bernard Saz took the bye, in at #29 +0.1665. First outing of the race for Nigel Turner in the blown-alcohol dragster belonging to Derek Flynn of Eurodragster.com sponsor Gold RV although not the first outing as Nigel put in a test pass here on Wednesday. 7.2308 breakout on a 7.32 dial-in, Derek very happy with that.

07:30 Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod to our coverage of the FIA / FIM European Finals brought to you in association with John Woolfe Racing. The Webster Race Engineering / Nimbus Motorsport webcast will start shortly before qualifying commences (scheduled for 09:30) and will continue until 19:00 when the Trakbak Racing / Track Group Europe Web TV takes over at www.santapod.co.uk/webtv.php. If you have not seen the Web TV before then you have a treat coming; it offers full TV production values with multiple camera angles, replays etc and is broadcast in High Def. And all for free! We will put out the occasional reminder during the day and we will update the Event Index to remove the link to our own webcast but my advice is to bookmark the Web TV link now. It is another beautiful day here at Santa Pod, beautiful sunrise and very little cloud, and mild. The reporting plan for today is the full service of live report, pit notes and end-day gallery. At the time that we were told about this it was hush-hush but seeing as the man himself has posted on Facebook we can now tell you that we are down one Pro Mod as Hussain Al Shammari did not have the correct visa to enter the UK. Pro ET are first out of bed again this morning and will start qualifying at 09:30. As you all know Eurodragster.com is proud not to obsess on the Pros but the Pro sessions are due at 10:30 and 14:30, the latter with the exception of FIA Top Fuel Dragster whose Q2 takes place during the night session at 19:15 together with the Fuel Altereds, Nostalgia FC and other treats. Again that will be on the Web TV so set your bookmarks. During the Pro sessions we will endeavour to update the race report after every pair.
