Joel Kerr runs his STP liveried Pontiac Firebird in Nostalgia Super Stock.

Tony Betts ran his '34 Ford Coupe to mid sevens. He said 'We are here for fun and I'm planning to race again with the Hartman nostalgia Funny Car at the California Hot Rod Reunion'.

Guy King in his 1966 Chevelle SS got to the semi final of Nostalgia Super Stock where he lost out to a Nic Williams hole shot. The final was Nic vs Lee Chiles.

Beavis Allen's Impala, based in Somerset, belies its 4000lb weight by running ETs in the mid 11s. At SCR in March he was the winner in the street muscle category.

Stephen Brindle's Model T altered in RWYB has a new scoop and exhaust collectors.

Wayne Hiscock's Chevelle has new rear quarter panels, and a new engine of 800hp output which will put the car in Super Comp when he makes his planned return to the National Championship.

Jason Blott's 496ci 32 three window coupe ran in the rwyb caegory.

Stephane Caruso from Nice is back with his Pinto.

Gary Atkinson's Rover 3500cc engined Mk1 Cortina is for sale for £8500.

Keith Smith's Jaguar Mark X is a real sleeper. It looks completely stock but has a 500ci BBC under the hood with twin Vortex superchargers. He said 'I've had the car for 16 years and have worked on it over that time. It has a new chassis and floor plan, TH400 trans with race shifter and 9" Ford rear. I took the twin fuel tanks out which provided space for the rear wheel tubs, and had to do a lot of engineering to get the engine setup under the bonnet without any bulges or hood scoops. The output was 900hp but I melted a couple of pistons last year so reduced the boost to give it 720hp. I lost a ton in weight by removing the electrical mechanism and drinks tables from the seats but they are still all leather.

Paul Croston is the owner of B-Sting, driven this weekend by Bob Morgan.

Andy Stones' model Willys is our put vehicle of the weekend. Andy's slingshot is powered by a highly unconventional Kawasaki ZX900. 'I've had the car for eighteen months and just do nostalgia meetings', he said. 'The engine has carburretors and three stages of nitrous, with a Kawasaki gearbox and chain drive to the wheels'. The engine is fairly stock outputting 170hp which produces times of 10.3s. Andy mentioned he has bought the Frantic V12 engined Topolino altered from 1979 as a complete car and plans to restore it, complete with mechanical fuel injection.

Chris Manning has a brand new, drop dead gorgeous slingshot, based directly on US cars of the 60s. He said 'It was a four year build. I had raced Hooligan, a '57 Chevy, in the Gasser Circus and crewed for John Ellis and Ray White's Pro Mods. Now John and Ray are helping me'. The engine was built by John and dynoed at Kenny Coleman's, and the body and paint are by Bryan Whitfield of Roberts Motor Bodies, Sheffield. Jon Webster rebuilt the rear axle. Chris said 'This is our debut meeting and a couple of burnouts would be great. The engine is a 471ci BBC with methanol injection and the Wild Bunch have made us feel really welcome'.

Gina Durrant is running the car that she and late husband Scottie ran together. The car now has a SBC engine which was the plan before Scottie became ill. Mark Coulsell reported that Scottie's funeral was attended by 350 people and tributes were made by Gina, Leslie Field (reading Graham Smith's poem), Tom Larman and Steve Rumble who is Gina's uncle. The procession was led by Bo's drift trike. Her new personal best at this event was 11.89/117.

Alan Lloyd is driving Gonzo the Great and wheels up launches and low eights are happening as if thirty odd years had not passed by since we first saw this superb Topolino altered.

James Tanner's Shindigger has a SBC, Powerglide, Ford 9" and runs 10.4s in the high 120s. James sported a sailor's cap in the pairing lanes.

Outlaw Anglia racer Garry Hill is a new addition to the ranks and made his debut at the Nostalgia Nationals held in June. The car has a 350ci engine.

Outlaw Anglia racer Jedd Guy ran his first seven yesterday. He said 'We've been trying to do it this year. We changed the converter and that made a big difference, thanks to Scott Crookston for supplying it. We also had the engine rebuilt by Jeff Bull after it blew up at the Big Bang. There is one stage of nitrous on it - so far.' Jedd went on to win the event.

OUtlaw Anglia racer Steve Wells was struggling with clutch adjustment problems. 'On the first run the clutch slipped but we went too far with the adjustment, the launch was violent and the car went sideways even after loosening it off. It's difficult to know how much to loosen it, but interesting to drive.'

Nostalgia Cannonball third placed Bob Glassup was running 7.5s during the event, his first time against competition with the Capri. He said 'We wanted a 1000ft pass in the morning, got a fuel leak, repaired a small problem and then ran against Steph to go 7.66. We've been losing cylinders down the track but are over the moon with the progress this weekend, there is no damage and the data looks good.' Bob's best run was 7.44/165.

Steph Milam ran low ET of the event at 6.18 on the run with Bob Glassup. She said 'We left awesomely and the rear of the car is planting fantastically well, but we need to work on the aero. It lifted the front on each gear change and it was light all the way down. The exhaust blew the timing block and there was no body damage. However the engine revved to 10,500 and it dropped a valve so we are out for the event. We would love to come to the Euro Finals so can some competition please enter too?'

Nostalgia Cannonball winner Ramon van der Weuf went 6.42/212 against Nick Davies's 6.61/223. He said 'We had a fantastic race against Ron Hope yesterday, I was told two hours before we were racing him and that was so exciting with everyone saying 'you must beat him'. On the first run of the weekend the blower belt went at half track but since then it has been faultless and our best was in the last run, a 6.42. I wanted the 60ft to be under 1.0s and it was 0.9985 which was great. Now we want to get into the 6.3s'. Ramon is joined by his dad Henk who was putting the track-grip down for Ramon's dry hops.

Dean Draper, aged 23 and a plumber by trade, has been working on Jim Draper's Reckless Rat for five years and now does the clutch with Andy Rawling and starts the car. Dean's dad Charlie who is crew chief on the altered, has been busy also riding two of Andrew Lambert's bikes, a 1972 Z900 and 1976 Z1000. Charlie said 'I had a rush this morning when the altered was called and I had to leg it back in my leathers. But thanks to Andrew for letting me abuse his bikes'.

Robbie Grabham ran a best of 7.85/174. He said 'It's a PB on ET and one mph off my PB speed. The car is in good shape. We had to rebuild the engine after Easter with crank and block repairs and getting spare rods and pistons from our parts store.'

Nostalgia Cannonball runner up Nick Davies with crew member Tom Rayner were working on the car in the team's t-shirts, available for £15 each from ICE Automotive. He said 'Yesterday we dropped two cylinders on the start line then one picked up straight away and the other at 1000ft but Randy came past me. We picked up 24mph from 1000ft to the quarter and it's our fastest speed with Havoc by 20mph. It's just fantastic to race against Ron and Randy'. Nick kept all cylinders lit for a holeshot win against Ron Hope, 6.59/220 to Ron's 6.53/231. His run in the Cannonball final was 6.61/223.

US fuel altered racer Randy Bradford was undefeated this weekend with a best of 6.406/234 against Ramon which was only 0.06s short of his PB. He said 'We love racing here and are looking forward to being at Hockenheim and back at Santa Pod for the Euro Finals in September'.

US Fuel Altered Ron Hope ran 6.57/223 in the final against Randy Bradford. His chutes failed to deploy and he got into a serious bounce in the shut down area with all four wheels off the ground at one point. Nevertheless he stopped the car short of the field. He said 'On my second run yesterday a fitting in the oil filter came loose and I got oil on my visor. I was flying on instruments. At 72 I am the oldest active Fuel Altered driver and the folks at SPR and the fans give me great support. It has been fantastic having this invitation to Santa Pod's 50th anniversary as it coincides with my 50th anniversary in racing and Randy's 50th anniversary. In September I will run my land speed cars and then fly from Bonneville to Hockenheim'. Ron earlier said one of his memorable moments was getting all four wheels off the ground in 1971 and he repeated that today at the top end. His motto is 'There are no drivers of Fuel Altereds, only passengers.'

NSA historic bike rider Chris Emmens has a family team running a Triumph constructed from various '60s and '70s parts bought over the years at autojumbles. His son said 'The engine is from the late 70s and is a Lees Racing supercharged 750cc on methanol'.

The Banshee Outlaw Anglia driven by Mick Taylor suffered a broken gearbox so was out of eliminations.

Supercharged Outlaws racer Andrew Gallimore runs an ex-Harlan Thompson chassis with a ex-Jim Whelan Probe body. Crew member Liam Maltby (pictured) said 'We have run nines so far and today was the first time brother Lee and Andrew have raced together which is an interesting exercise in communications as we only have one offboard starter. The engine is a KB 476ci with BAE heads, 14-71 supercharger, Titan clutch, three speed Lenco and Top Fuel tyres'.

The BHRA Pioneers Club display outside Maurice Takoors pit reminded spectators of those who, alongside Maurice,.established the club that helped to build the sport in the UK and run events even before Santa Pod existed.

Maurice Takoor was in the Spirit slingshot with blown BMC A series engine originally built and run by Dave Miller back in the day. He said 'I changed the gear selection mechanism to suit me and I am now running twelves and getting the car down the track on each run'.

Russ Heaven was delighted to have run six PBs this weekend with a best of 8.7/150. Son and crew Steve Heaven said 'The car now has a SBC stroked to 441ci with Alkydigger.com mechanical fuel injection and Enderle bug catcher with PG gearbox. The car has two batteries, one for the electronics and the other for an on-board starter.'

US drag legend Tom Hoover was at the track yesterday afternoon and took part in the signing today.

Wild Bunch racer Craig Greenfield has a Topolino bodied Competition Coupe. He said 'This is our third meeting. I bought the car as part built and put the engine in, and had the wiring and paint done. It's a 350ci Chevy with tunnel ram, twin four barrel carbs and two speed PG with Ford 9" rear. There are a few gremlins - the car launches well but I have a problem getting the carbs balanced.

Could Mick Jagger build a slingshot at 72? Ken Cooper could, and at the age of 78 he drove one down the track against 91 year old Harold Whitmore in a race flag-started by previous chief starter and BDRHoF chairman Stu Bradbury. Today, son Bradley raced against Harold Bull's son Simon, and although the dragster suffered ignition retardation issues, it went down the track as it has done on many previous occasions.

Harold Bull did a flag-started run in Stripduster yesterday and enjoyed his first drive in a dragster for many years and recreate being the first car to travel down the SPR quarter mile. Son Simon said 'There was a lot of clutch vibration with the direct drive and sintered bronze paddle clutch, but Dad kept on it.' The Bull family enjoyed the weekend immensely and look forward to returning to run the car again.

Wild Bunch racer Graham Rawlings has a unique setup in his slingshot. He said 'It's a VW engine and manual gearbox. I finished building it for Volksworld in March 2015. Johnny Hall of Stanford Speed Shop made the main frame rails and I finished the chassis myself. I run a business building VW engines at www.rawspeed.co.uk. The gearbox is a Ford Type 9 five speed of which we use four gears and the car has run a best of 10.72/127.5. The engine is a 2276cc VW with four IDA48 Weber carburretors and Superflow heads, naturally aspirated on pump gas. It is a mild tune at the moment but we want to run nines and will get a sequential gearbox and taller first gear to help do that'.

Wim Blaakmeer runs a 67 Coronet in Outlaw Street. Outlaw Street has eight race dates, the next being SCR next weekend and then the Mopar Euronats in two weeks time.

Marc Post runs a '72 GTX in Outlaw Street.

Kevin Shepperson and Linden Shepperson run almost identical Escort Mk2s in Outlaw Street. The series requires street legal cars with no slicks allowed and is scored on attendance, quickest ET on the day and improvement from previous bests.

Linden Shepperson's engine compartment shows the Cosworth engine with turbo which propels the car to mid tens at over 130mph.

Trevor Sharpe has this split screen VW Bus. The rapid bus has run a best of 11.59/118 and has a 350bhp turbocharged type 1 engine. It is street driven.

The show and shine area had an impressive Tri Chevy display.

Adam Clayton, who is Bill Sherratt's grandson, brought his altered from Cheshire to make rwyb passes.

Today the Allard Chrysler, Britain's first dragster built in 1961, took its first-ever pass down the Santa Pod quarter mile. The run was fittingly announced by Allard Chairman Brian Taylor. Martin Dunks was the driver of the venerable car down the track.
