Kevin Kent 4.8036/193.87 def. Gordon Smith 8.2240/86.19

Gordon again just starting to reverse from his burnout as Kevin pulled forward - but again good timing as both were back to the start line pretty much together. Kevin away first 0.1242 to 0.2147 and the better sixty 0.9051 to Gordon's 0.9267. Gordon hit shake past the Tree, 2.5505 to 330 feet then off the gas. 2.4536 to sixty for Kevin, a brief pedal about 400 feet out as his header flames went from orange to yellow and off the gas at about the eighth 3.6672/200.60.

Sportsman ET eliminations round 1

Scare for Dave Withington before his race with Andy Dibley, lost fire before the burnout then the motor sounded reluctant to re-fire. Got it fired up though, just in time to break out. Someone smarter than I (you there Simon?) can work out the mathematical odds of siblings Paul and John Przybyl and Kirstie and Spencer Tramm meeting in round one of eliminations after six qualifying sessions in a field of thirty one! Gordon Northway sat out his race with Ethan Lisle; being a Super Pro ET racer he didn't want to interfere in the National Sportsman ET Championship, big thumbs up to Gordon for that.

Patrik Pers no time bye

Patrik not qualified for today's eliminations so a Test and Tune pass, the FC final will take place later this afternoon. Instant shake and front wheel wobble, 1.0650 to sixty, car ran over the 330 foot reflector and Patrik was hard on the brakes. Into the left lane then headed right, Patrik stopped it straddling the centre line just after the eighth and popped the roof hatch. Obviously I wasn't in the car so I can't say for sure but judging by the FC's behaviour I suspect that the butterfly came off or some other steering issue.

VW Pro qualifying session 5

Danny Higham's Golf pushed back from stage in the first pair, small fluid clean-up ensued. Next pair and something small came off Paul Jordan's Scirocco, looked like a nut or bolt, Darren of the start line crew set off after it and it crossed lanes as if trying to evade him. A halt then called as not-unexpected word came from the top end that the piece in question was a gearbox bearing, then a mist of fluid was found on the track so a brief clean-up. Another wayward run for Graeme Freeman in Matt Attwood's Fastback, I stopped counting the wheelies after the third one. Almost had the 330 foot reflector, backed out of it.

Slight step to the right at the hit for Nigel Hale's huge pick-up, in the other lane a slight improvement for Nick Hale. Martin Smith into the sevens and into #1 in the Bentley, very smooth looking pass with no dramas and chute out before the stripe.

Kevin Kent 7.0879/85.27, Gordon Smith 8.0849/86.34

0.9620 to sixty for Kevin, 0.9891 for Gordon. Gordon looked to lose power before 330 feet 2.8942 and was off the gas at that point. 2.6272 to 330 for Kev, no sign of shake but the car's body language suggested a broken blower belt, off the gas and smoke from the pipes.

Fantastic run for Sam Young! 8.5034/152.09, breaks his own world record again for the quickest electric doorslammer. Well done Sam, Olly and team! Dial-in was 8.71 so a bit of a bust on that but Sam is #1 qualifier anyway.

Outlaw Anglia qualifying session 4

Greetings to Outlaw Anglia racer Matt Cooper who is sitting this one out, wish you were here Matt. I thin the Fyfers are missing you too judging by the messages. Improvements for Cliff and Ginner to start the day. Ginner told me last night that on one run yesterday the van got a bit loose and moved around in the second half, towards the rail, but that (of course) he didn't think of getting off it. Pops from Dave's motor in the burnout and then on the run. Fantastic paired burnout by Jedd and Scott, both cars moving around in the second eighth Jedd's especially but he held on to it.

The Webster Race Engineering / Nimbus Motorsport webcam will be switched on at approximately 09:00 and will broadcast live video and commentary / Nitro FM audio so long as the track is open. Thanks to everyone for their patience with the collapsing BurnoutCam yesterday. We think that we have now found the cause, something beyond our control, but now it's a case of finding the workaround. Big thanks to Julian Parsons of Nitro FM for going above and beyond to help yesterday and today when he had quite enough of his own to do.

It is again a beautiful day here at Santa Pod, sun and cloud and very warm.
