Stig shut off for fluid leak on return from his burnout. Word on the track radio was blower seal failure. Anita took the bye, 0.8606 to sixty, 3.1785/261.78 at the eighth, blackstriping all the way and drove it out the back door.

Big visible holeshot for Thomas 0.0524 to Jimmy's 0.1284, Jimmy to sixty in 0.9616 to Thomas' 0.9890, Thomas drove through shake whilst Jimmy overtook him and was pretty much ahead by the eighth 4.1941/167.79 to Thomas' 4.3920/162.27. Thomas close to the centre line, shut it off and chutes out before the stripe.

Fil's motor stopped a few feet off the line and he rolled to a halt about 150 feet out. Rikard's bike wasn't in gear and he didn't move. As the start line crew rushed to Fil's aid Rikard finally got a gear, any gear, and rode down the track in a stately manner, Fil waved at him as he went past.

Anita with a record to back up. Both drivers about to stage and something noticed on the track by the Tree, Bob leapt the wall and picked it up in double quick time. Jari away first 0.0733 to 0.1218 but then Anita's Happy engine kicked into overdrive. 0.8347 to sixty to Jari's 0.9074, 3.1264/264.68 at the eighth to Jari's 3.3214/256.50. Anita's motor looked like it wanted to eat itself up but it hung together all the way, Anita there first by 0.1678 staying on it through the back door and her earlier 3.912 backed up for a new European ET record, well done Anita, Tommi and the guys!

Micke's tyres didn't light in the burnout. Job away first 0.2042 to 0.3000, Ronny with the much better sixty 1.2328 to Job's 1.3809. Ronny with the lead at the eighth 4.5731/164.85 to Job's 4.9298/160.75 but then a small puff and a suddenly huge cloud of smoke obscured our view of Ronny and the bike, Ronny off the throttle and Job overhauled him. Clean-up in Ronny's lane.

Martijn de Haas 6.6270/210.82 bye

Great run for Martijn, as we said the other day just tweaking it a little each run. 1.1510 to sixty, headed fo rthe centre line but stayed on it, 4.3321/175.51 at the eighth.

FIM eliminations were preceded by a memorial and minute's silence on the start line for late Top Fuel Bike racer Brian Johnson and his wife Ann. Members of Brian's family attended wearing Brian's team shirts and two of his former bikes were placed by the Christmas Tree.

Rene's motor broken during qualifying so Fil gets a bye. 1.0380 to sixty for Fil, 4.3641/166.42 at the eighth. Great run!

Nick Milburn 8.5125/106.77 bye, Steve Woollatt shut off

Steve's motor certainly started and I heard him chirp it towards the bleach box but he never appeared under Race Control. Turned round and looked and Steve had got off the bike and it was being pushed away. Nick to sixty in 1.0992, feathered the throttle about 200 feet out, back on it to the eighth 4.8105/138.12 then shut off.

Rikard Gustafsson 6.5666/210.87 def. Otto Knebl 7.8897/156.29

Rikard away first 0.2936 to 0.3875 and had the better sixty 1.1018 to 1.1453. Otto's bike started to pick up but then he feathered the throttle before the eighth 4.9160/126.15, Rikard pulling away 4.3017/174.71. Otto rolled off the throttle at about 1000 feet.

Ian King 8.1125/112.50 bye

#1 qualifier bye for Ian and two records to back up. Not this time. 1.0026 to sixty, 2.6885 to 330 feet, looked like the rear end unloaded when the front end came down, smick up in smoke and motor screaming for mercy.

Michael Malmgren 6.7399/204.40 def. Magnus Pettersson 7.3662/163.65

Magnus visibly away first 0.0346 to 0.1264, 0.9934 to sixty to Michael's 1.0047 but then Magnus hit shake and had to pedal as the car made a move to the right. Michael got past him by the eighth 4.3329/161.77 to Magnus' 4.6189/146.53, Magnus got back on the gas for a couple of seconds but then put the chutes out at about 1000 feet.

Thomas Lindström 6.5799/202.48 def. Simon Gustafsson 6.7673/202.42 DQ

Simon knew what he would have to do and tried to shave it at the Tree, -0.0020 red. 0.9556 to sixty for Thomas, 4,2197/166.06 at the eighth, shut it off and had the chutes out in the traps - a new PB for Thomas I believe and more left in there yet.

Jimmy Ålund 6.4990/215.00 bye

#1 qualifier bye for Jimmy. Not for him taking it easy on a bye, oh no, only the quickest and fastest Pro Stock run in European history! 0.9707 to sixty feet, 4.1866/168.50 at the eighth. Both ET and speed backed up for new European records. Well done Jimmy! Jimmy's numbers compare with NHRA records of 6.455 seconds and 215.55 mph.

Jonny almost back at the Tree from his own burnout before Dennis pulled his burnout, on Dennis' return Chief Starter Ian Marshall signalled his team to speed it up a bit. Dennis away first 0.0206 to 0.1283, the better sixty 0.9389 to 0.9735. Dennis' tyres were flapping but he stayed with it. 3.5635/215.52 to the eighth for Dennis to Jonny's 3.6198 at a faster 220.09. Jonny was visibly reeling Dennis in but ran out of track, Dennis first by 0.1718.

Dave Wilson 5.5452/252.86 def. Stefan Gunnarsson 6.3154/221.21

Stefan visibly moved first 0.1243 to 0.1583, but he left the line with cylinders out on the left side. Grumpy had the better sixty 0.9757 to 1.1082 whilst Stefan's car was visibly labouring. Grumpy to the eighth in 3.6678/212.83 to Stefan's 4.1612/186.32, cylinders went out on the left side of Grumpy's motor in the second half.

#1 qualifier bye for Timo, took the green and idled along the track.

Liam's first elimination round in Top Fuel Dragster. Jari away first 0.0955 to 0.1293, Liam to sixty in 0.9330 but tyres blazing, the dragster disappeared in a cloud of smoke and then we saw it again as it turned hard right and twisted and Liam shut off. 0.8935 to sixty for Jari, 3.3043/256.50 at the eighth, blackstriping all the way and not a foot wrong.

Anita Mäkelä 3.9126/295.85 def. Tethys 6.6738/76.29

Anita put the "Happy" 3.9-second motor back in the car and it delivered! Tet away first 0.0828 to 0.1367, Anita had the better sixty foot time 0.8297 to Tet's 0.8876, shake for Tet and then the blower panel burst and a chute deployed. Storming eighth for Anita 3.1113/264.73. Anita on the first half of a new European ET record, well done Anita, Tommi and team!

Micke Kågered 4.0240/280.40 def. Duncan Micallef 5.9560/110.06 DQ

High drama in this pair. Duncan away first 0.0832 to 0.0955, Micke with the better sixty 0.8482 to Duncan's 0.9360, Duncan's tyres shook about 100 feet out then went right up in smoke, the Maltese Lion stayed with it trying to get the dragster straight until it turned hard right, it was pointing at the guardrail for a moment but Duncan pulled it straight and the right rear slick just tagged the wall. Micke long gone, 3.2023/257.96 at the eighth but a bang and a flash of flame in the shutdown area. Safety crews chased Micke down. Personal best for Micke, congratulations Micke! Clean up in Duncan's lane and at the end of the shutdown area where Micke stopped.

Stig Neergaard 4.082/290.19 def. Birgitte Bremnes 4.1494/276.81

Birgitte's first elimination round in Top Fuel Dragster. Great race! Stig away first 0.1374 to 0.1618, the quicker sixty, just, 0.8641 to 0.8690. The cars looked welded together but the timing system showed Stig ahead at the eighth 3.2421/248.71 to 3.2819/245.35. Stig first to the stripe by 0.0886, just over a car length.

Jemma Venables kicked her Personal Best into next week in the fourth pair, well done Jemma! Another new ET record for Dave Holland, 7.038, and the first half of a new speed record at 207.90, well done Dutch!

Eurodragster.som sponsor Andy and team changed a motor last night. Andy away first 0.1818 to 0.2871. 1.0489 to sixty to Marcus' 1,0472, Marcus with high-frequency shake, Andy with more conventional shake which pitched the Camaro to the right, a pedal and back on it. 4.2146/173.60 at the eighth for Andy to Marcus' 4.5015/149.06, Marcus' Vette looked to be labouring and he was off the gas past the eighth. Smoke from Marcus' motor in the shutdown area, track checked and all OK.

Clanging noise from Jean's car as he came off the burnout. Jean away first 0.1803 to 0.2205 but everything in David's favour after that. 0.9779 to sixty to Jean's 1.0252, Davis drove through a little shake, 4.0199/182.74 at the eighth to Jean's 4.3089/129.52. Jean briefly looked to be coming back at David in the second half but David had it by 0.3529.

Tero absolutely whupped Rick at the Tree, 0.0434 to 0.4171. Rick with his usual rapid sixty 0.9886 to Teros's 1.0279. Rick going great guns at the eighgh 4.1094/173.60 but way behind Tero's 4.0700/191.78. Again Tero put on 60 mph in the second eighth.

Pedalfest! Norbret just away first 0.1375 to 0.1591 but instant shake and a peal. Kev to sixty in 1.0184 but then shakle between 100 and 200 feet and the car went hard right. Kev got off the gas but then I think he realised that Norbert wasn't there. 4.6346/147.07 at the eighth to Norbret's 4.7687/157.95 and got back on it. 0.0099 victory for Kev, 37.27 inches.

Roger J away first 0.1696 to Roger M's 0.1795, the better sixty for Roger J 1.0062 to 1.0172. Roger J then hit violent shake and had to shut it off. No such problems for Roger M, 4.1829/172.93 at the eighth and into the next round.

Andy's tyres didn't light in the burnout, maybe a distraction as Mats strapped a huge 0.0995 to 0.5274 holeshot in him - in fact I thought Mats had gone before the lights ran and had to check the timing console. Instant shake and spin for Andy, shut off. 0.9449 to sixty for Mats, 3.9371/188.85 at the eighth.

Micke Gullqvist 5.9045/242.91 def. Chris Isaacs 7.7423/134.96

This one was over on the start line. Eurodragster.com sponsor Chris looked and sounded to have problems getting the revs up and into stage, the Autostart clock was running but Chris bumped it forward. When the lights ran Chris stayed where he was, Micke was long gone 0.9693 at sixty and meteoric 3.8956/191.26 at the eighth. Chris launched when Micke was almost to the finish line, launch and a pedal, back on the gas then shut it off.
