Latest update 14:45

Eurodragster.com sponsor Jon Webster's new slingshot had an eventful debut. He said 'I did the burnout in second gear. I thought about a second gear launch but decided first without transbrake as the rear end ratio is high and the engine is forward with the transmission. I was surprised how quickly the front end came up and the torque steer put it on one wheel. When it came down my head went from side to side and the next thing I knew I came round in the medical centre. Yet I got out of the car myself.'

Jon's car hit both walls but the slicks absorbed virtually all the impact. The car suffered some steering and front axle damage and minimal front body dents. He said 'We will repair, put long wheelie bars on and would like to run it at the Euro Final test days'.

Bike racer Johnny Munn has travelled from Australia to ride the Hobbit for the first time in 30 years. He said 'The years were rolling back. I forgot how quick everything is on a run and the feel of the machine which you learn over many runs'. With only a couple of runs, Johnny raced Hobbit in a unique matchup against John Hobbs on Olympus this morning. It was a great matchup with John taking a big lead at the start and Johnny passing him at the top end, 9.243/142 to 10.664/125.

Former Jet driver and now bike restorer and racer Colin Fallows bought Super Cyclops two years ago. He said 'Mick Butler built it originally in 1971-2 and raced it before selling it to Roy Webb. Later, Dave Emerson rode it and the last race it appeared at was Le Mans in 1982 - then it went into storage. I collected it as a box of bits. It's a learning curve, not knowing the settings and most of my experience being with jets'. Colin has made the bike look as original as possible, albeit in showorthy condition. The original Norton Dominator 500cc engines from 1957 are geared together with Ariel Square Four gears. The nitro percentage is 10% as Colin refines the settings.

This 250cc Velocette bike owned by Colin Fallows has yet to take to the track in restored form. It was originally built by Derek Parnell, won UK Dragbike Championships in 1968 and 1969 and was sold to Roy Webb in 1970. Colin bought it in 2014. Colin is also working on Roy Webb's Black Cat Triumph, a project involving Rudge engines and a Weslake run possibly by Dave McCormick with twin superchargers.

1998 Super Twin champion Jan Honee is racing his bike built from a Jawa speedway style engine in 1980. He said 'It orginally had 45hp and has a two speed gearbox. If I ran it hard something broke and we were using 100% nitro in those days - I am just on 98% now. I ran the bike at Mantorp and in the US until 1996. Then I bought Rob van Geffen's Super Twin bike and put the Jawa into storage. The Jawa is much harder to ride than the Super Twin because it shakes so much. Thanks to Marius van der Zijden who has done more on the bike in three months than I did in nineteen years - he has made pistons and heads for it. Thanks to Roel Koedam for his help too.'

Gas Guzzler owned by Chris Hill from Cornwall is a '56 Chevy with 350cu in engine. This is Chris's first year in the Gasser Circus.

Psychedelic, owned and driven by Merv Barnett, is a '54 Pop with blown 327cu in engine and Powerglide trans. Merv suffered engine damage at the Yanks Weekend but is back on track here. Paint is by Wayne Allman and the car was owned by Crawford Campbell in the early 1980s.

Goldrush owned and driven by Kevin Strevett and sons Bradley and Tyrone, won the best appearing car award. Kevin said 'I have owned the car for 16 months and it is running more consistently now in the high elevens after an engine rebuild.

The High Roller Falcon is driven in the Gasser Circus by Steve Dixon and was originally built and run by Eurodragster.com sponsor Nic Williams.

Super Stock racer Ian Brown was pleased to go rounds - and then the rains came and caused the event to be called around 2pm.

Wayne Allman of Intergalactic Speedshop ran a PB speed of 182mph in his steel bodied VW Type 2 pickup. He said 'I red lit and double stepped the launch, doing a 1.66 60ft which was slow for me. The 7.9 ET was slow (I had done 7.51 at Shakey recently) but the speed was good. It's just meant to be a bit of fun though.' Wayne said he is moving workshop because he needs more space. 'I am also building a jet car for Lee Gallimore and it is longer than my current workshop'.

Fuel Altered racer Clive Mechaell ran a 7.19 although little issues prevented a full pass. He said 'I had to pedal it a bit at the startline and the blower belt went at 1000ft. That would have been a low six without those problems but it was good to make my first pass here in 19 years'. There was a bit of damage and when we started to strip the engine, we found some aluminium in the oil pan and the valve lash showed a suspect lifter. We will look at it at home and be back next year'.

Chris and Adam Nowak from Doncaster run this beautifully painted Plymouth Roadrunner in Super Stock with Adam driving.

Bryan Whitfield's transporter for Henry Hirise, a Ford C750 Big Job, is our pit vehicle of the event.

Super Stock racer Carl Johnson from Sheffield makes it clear what engine he is running in his Plymouth.

The 'Ain't No Saint Volvo P1800 owned by Steve Spiller of Apple County Muscle Cars who have posted GoPro footage on Facebook.

Taz Racing have fifteen cars and this 100E Pop with Cosworth engine owned by Mark Thorogood is typically immaculate.

Mark Bishop (pictured right, with Dad Kim) got off the throttle quickly and kept out of the way when he spotted Jon Webster going into his wheelie and this saved a much worse situation happening. He said 'The car is the same setup as the altered but with a blower on the engine. It's like a comfortable pair of shoes and it went straight. The altered ran 8.4s and so I am hoping for low eights or high sevens. The car is a sister to Jon's and we have chassis no.1'. The engine is a 521cu in big block Ford with Powerglide. 'We plan to run in competition next year in Super Pro or Supercharged Outlaws depending on how consistently we run'.

The Oblivion Avenger was rebuilt by current owner Matt Fuller. He said 'I had a Morris 8 and at the Hot Rod Drags I put up a sign asking if anyone wanted to swap. Dusty Laugher who had the chassis with a T bucket body and the Avenger body separately approached me and we did a deal. Richard Walters helped me restore the body. The engine was a stock Chevy which blew up at our second meeting and we replaced it with a 383cu in Real Steel stroker, which is good for elevens. The gearbox is from Zane Llewellyn.' The car was built by DB Motors and then sold to Liz and Ollie Burn - Liz came by yesterday to see how we were doing.'

Dave 'Sag' Southworth with crew chief Alan Grimes built the 'Daddy Cool' dragster in 1989 having run Jeepers Creepers altered previously, and the car has been on track ever since. They said 'Originally it was in Modified ET and then Pro ET and now Wild Bunch'. The car runs a Rover engine supercharged with Ford C4 gearbox and 9" rear. Best times are 8.95/144. However there have been problems recently. 'First the crank sprocket broke which caused the blower belt teeth to shred off and I got covered in confetti, and then at the Yanks Weekend the engine went lean, burnt two pistons, liners and copper head gasket. So we are running it rich now and going back to doing 9.2s at 140mph.'

Bernard Saz from France has a new Andy Robinson chassis which makes the car lower. Initial runs showed it also runs a lot straighter than before, getting more power to the ground.
