Gordon Smith 5.3837/178.53 def. Kevin Kent 5.6883/132.20

Visible 0.2185 to 0.3541 holeshot for Gordon. Kevin with the better sixty 0.9579 to 1.0260, Gordon looked to pedal for shake, Kevin again hit shake about 300 feet out but stayed with it until his tyres went up in smoke about 400 feet out and he shut off before the eighth 3.9916/146.47. Gordon having pedalled and got back on the gas, 4.1232/178.39 at the eighth, overhauled Kevin and took the win by 0.4402.

European Nitro Funny Car Series qualifying session 3 (left lane first)

Kevin Kent 4.5563/236.18 bye; Gordon Smith 7.3244/103.35, John Spuffard 5.3113/225.66;

Looked like Kevin and team had a guest on the start line, well impresed I'd say! Great run, 0.9586 to sixty, looked like a cylinder out from about 100 feet, shake 300 or so feet out but stayed with it, 3.6051/231.03 at the eighth heading towards the guardrail with cylinders out on both sides. Shut it off just a touch before the stripe. Kevin into #1 at that point. Some clean-up at the end of the shutdown area. Problems for Gordon smith before staging, one of the crew went sprinting off, leapt the guardrail in a move of which Colin Jackson would be proud, and sped back with the requisite tool. Spuff visibly away first 0.1943 to 0.2888 and the much better sixty 0.9639 to 1.0612, Gordon's tyres not hooking up evenly and pushing the Shockwave FC towards the guardrail. Spuff pedalled for a moment about 300 feet out, Gordon off it before the eighth 5.0779/102.43 whilst Spuff was back on the gas by then 4.2461/190.13.

Outlaw Anglia qualifying session 4

Strange metallic noises from Pete Rollinson's transmission as he put it in gear. Either gave up on it or the trans quit on the launch, not easy to tell from here. Fantastic paired burnout from Colin Millar and Matt Cooper, the Flying Fifer and the Bender Boys egging one another on one suspects. A brief double-step from Matt as the lights ran but not enough to trigger the clocks luckly. The usual left turn from Matt's car but he had a good hold of it.

Good morning and welcome to our coverage of Bug Jam brought to you in association with John Woolfe Racing.

The Webster Race Engineering / Nimbus Motorsport webcam will be online broadcasting live video and commentary / Nitro FM audio so long as the track is open, about which more shortly.

The traditional Raceday Good Morning to our US Correspondent Kathy Hileman who is tuned in from foreign climes, by the sound of it a fact-finding tour of weak foreign beers. Hope your head is OK Kathy. Good morning also to our Pit Reporter Simon who is not able to be here this weekend, you're missing all the fun mate.

We had a large amount of rain overnight; it was gone by about 06:00 and the track crew are as ever hard at work out there. It is not cold outside and the quarter mile itself looks pretty much dry, as usual the shutdown area is demanding the attention. Today's schedule has us starting at 09:50 and I don't think we'll be far off that. Of course the webcast will not start until we are nearly ready to go.

Thanks to everyone for their patience when the webcam crapped out yesterday. After a lot of investigation it transpires that the provider of the satellite uplink has some very small print (like a three-point font) about throttling services at certain times of day - this despite the fact that Julian of Nitro FM purchased rather a large amount of uplink capacity in advance. Julian will be calling their service people tomorrow, but fingers crossed everything should be OK today. We must say a big Thank You to Maikel Gloudemans and Joris Houben of our streaming provider Doyousee.me both of whom dropped everything to diagnose the problem when it occurred yesterday afternoon. Thanks guys.
