The second Alamo Junior Drag Racing Fun Day was organised by Santa Pod in association with sponsor Alamo Alamo Rent-a-Car. As well as Santa Pod management, Andy Wheeler of Alamo and Spencer Tramm were the main organisers and others helped make the day a resounding success.

As well as 45 junior dragsters and drag bikes, other race cars made demo runs or were on display. Rhiannon Bellenie's new Pro ET dragster with a Hayabusa engine was shown for the first time and it is a really neat looking machine based on an imported chassis.

The Hayabusa engine with air shifted gears should give Rhiannon nine second quarters according to father Pete. 'Once we have got the car running reliably we will look at installing a turbo. Currently the main engine mod is aftermarket pistons, otherwise it is mainly stock'.

Luke Felstead has been running his car at both SPR and SCR in rwyb mode. The car was built by father Bill Felstead who runs Fester Racecars and has been a competitor since the mid 80s.

Junior Bike racers Jack Shook (pictured left) and Jordan Kenway (pictured right) were at the head of the pairing lanes before the morning qualifying session. The bikes ran two eliminations, each with one qualifying session.

Joe Kellett was the victor in the JMA elimination, defeating a red-lighting Paige Wheeler in the final round.

Jordan Kenway's bike was built by father Jeff, who is a carpenter by trade and acquired welding skills to build the frame for the bike which runs in the mid nines over the eighth.

The winner of the Junior Stock elimination in the morning was Skye Collier, who defeated Katie Ellis in the final.

There was a long queue for the charity face-painting stall at www.niamhsnextstep.org which was formed to raise money to fight Neuroblastoma which is a rare cancer that affects children. The charity is named after Niamh who died from the disease aged five.

Multi Junior Bike championship winning Scott Collier was hoping to run his Super Twin Top Gas bike at the event however serious engine damage at the Summernationals and problems during the rebuild prevented him getting on track.

The French team headed up by Patrick Dubois came with six Junior Dragsters and two Super Pro ET cars. Marie Jeanne Dubois said 'We are based in Valence in South of France and also Paris. We have only three races in the ATD this year and have enjoyed racing at SCR and Santa Pod where all of us apart from Patrick are racing for the first time. Our cars are imported from the US and our son Fabien won Junior Dragster at the recent NitrOlympX'.

Junior Dragster racer Saskia Fensome Jell was racing at the NitrOlympX and Dad 'Fen' talked about the changes the team had to make to get the car to run on the tricky Hockenheim surface. 'We changed the clutch weights and transmission belt tension and also altered the tyre pressures. The kids were also involved in crewing for the Shockwave Funny Car so it was quite a busy weekend.

Fiona Moor started her racing in Bike ET classes at SCR, later moving up to Super Street and then taking time off to bring up her daughters Siobhan and Giselle. Later the family went racing with Giselle in 2007 and then Siobhan in 2013 going the Junior Drag Bike route. Fiona and Giselle are now racing in Super Twin ET. Dad Steve (pictured right) will be back racing when a new bike is built.

Jasmine and Megan Cordelle are two Junior Drag Bike racers who have the former Pro Stock Bike racer Phil Cordelle as crew chief. Phil said 'Jasmine now rides the Junior bike that my son Brett used to ride, which has a Jerry Collier chassis and modified body panels from my old Pro Stock bike. The engine is a Suzuki RM125 motorcross engine with a 144 big bore kit. My niece Megan made her first pass this meeting as well'.

British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Chairman was attending and showed us the new period-correct helmet made for the driver of the Allard Chrysler.

Thomas Cook-Abbott was the winner of the Junior Modified elimination, defeating Belle Wheeler who broke out.

Louis Davies won both Junior Drag Bike eliminations, beating Blade Drummer in the morning and Alfie Udall in the afternoon.

The 32-car Junior Dragster field in the afternoon was won by French visitor Lucas Dubourget.
