Stay tuned for today's gallery and Simon is out in the pits so will have some more notes for you. 17:30 Comp Eliminator qualifying session 5 Pop from Kev Perkins' motor and the start line crew rushed with fire extinguishers. Car pushed back to the Barn, trail of fluid marked its progress. In the other lane Amanda Cox's motor stopped on the way back from the burnout but she restarted, tyres up in smoke at the hit. Clean-up then Robin Orthodoxou on a bye, shut off after the burnout. Retrieval and then Bernard Saz' first run of the day alongside Dave James. Last-minute adjustments on Dave's car whilst Bernard's Crew Chief was clearly becoming impatient. Half pass for Bernard, might have been planned that way but the Citroen was moving about its lane at half track.

16:35 Super Pro ET qualifying session 5 Big move for Brian Pateman, up from #26 to #15 at +0.0229. Next pair Rick Cooke moved up from #22 to #17 at +0.0239. Mike Bruckmuller up from #23 to #17 at +0.0235. The top six qualifiers are +0.00 on dial-in. Make that seven as Brad Jackson moved up from #23 to #6 +0.007, Simon Gough in the other lane went +0.004 on dial-in but has already been +0.002. Martyn Jones up from #27 to #21 with the Top Methanol Dragster which isn't, 6.032 in a 6.00 dial-in, shut off about 1000 feet. Liam Jones pushed away, didn't hear his motor start, I did see Crew Chief Gary Coull indicating to his colleagies what looked like cables or a drive belt. Shari Oomen's problem last session thankfully nothing serious she reappeared for this session. Smoke from Shari's motor at the stripe, track crew out for a look. All OK. Next pair and reigning UK Champion Scott Hauser made a big move up the ladder, #23 to #12 at +0.0158. We are now using the detailed list for Super Pro as an issue has emerged with the timing system reports - if there are alternates (as there are in Super Pro ET) then the bottom qualifier is missed off the list.

I am guessing something broke as Phil shut off about 200 feet out after the burnout. Tom Atkinson took the bye, #35 to #6 +0.017 on dial-in. Top 23 separated by 0.0879 at that point. Big move up the ladder for Barry Giles, #37 to #15. Bang, chunk of metal and a big puddle of fluid from Roy Walker's motor during the burnout, pushed back. Improvement for Phil Jones, consolidating his #2 spot at 8.9103. No #1 qualifier Paul Watson in this session, hopefully not car woes - I happen to know that Grumpy is not feeling 100% and we all wish him better.

Bad news from Eurodragster.com sponsor Pete Walters who is done for the weekend with engine damage, same for Rod Harrison by the sound of things, I just overheard the words "A big hole". Great pairing between Phil Toppin and Dave Gibbons to open the session, Phil all the way up from #39 to #4 +0.0092 and Dave up from #15 to #3 at +0.0047. Frank Eijskoot up from #20 to #8 at +0.0348, top sixteen separated by 0.0849 at that point. Big move for confectionery supplier Steve Saunders, #33 to #6 at that point, +0.0196. Rick Cooke next to make a move, up from #39 to #12 at +0.0507. Top sixteen now +0.0813, before anyone writes yes I know it is a 32-car field. #19 to #14 for Paul Marston. Next pair and #39 seems to be the place from which to make a move, Brian Pateman up to #17 from that place. #40 to #22 for Shari Oomen in the following pair. 8.198 on an 8.70 dial-in for Rene Ehrismann, next pair Paul Przybyl up from #20 to #9. Next pair and could Johan Oomen, at that point #27 outqualify daighter Shari, at that point #22? No and in fact was pushed down a place by Mike Bruckmuller who moved up from #31 to #21. Good to see Tom van der Wijden on track after he put out an appeal for parts yesterday, parts found I guess. Nice burnout but then shut off before staging.

Next pair and Tim Stanbury made a big move up the ladder, #16 to #3. 0.0065 RT for Leigh Morris next pair, in the other lane Mark Bailey up from #13 to #5. I wonder if he has yet forgiven me for only photographing him on the way up to rather than at the top of his huge wheelie at the start of the season. 11:20 Comp Eliminator qualifying session 1 Small fire on one side of the car after Amanda Cox pulled her burnout. Looked like a piece of card or paper stuck on the right exhaust, one of her crew tried kicking the fire to put it out, I could see where he was coming from but the start line crew sorted it with the more traditional extinguisher. Amanda's tyres then went up in smoke and the car stopped about 500 feet out. Problems for Robin Orthodoxou, the motor stopping after the burnout then three times before staging. Troubled-sounding run, but a time on the board. Kev Perkins had no forward gear after the lights ran, had reverse which got him back behind the Tower.

11:10 Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator qualifying session 1 Great run for Matt Smith to open his account, in the other lane Martin Smith's chute didn't deploy fully, got it stopped no problem. My forst look at Antony Wilkins' Butcher's Shop delivery, what a great piece of kit, 10.9126 for starters. Eurodragster.com sponsor Jon Webster into the sevens off the trailer. Then a huge burnout by Steve Neimantas, the track and the rest of Planet Earth briefly disappeared from where I was sitting, and a great pass for #1 spot. In the other lane Andy Bond starting to find form again. Stu Williams into the sevens to close the session.

11:00 Super Comp qualifying session 1 Paul Watson follows up an 8.906 testing yesterday with an 8.907 good for #1 in the second pair, 0.007 off the Eurodragster.com / Gold RV Perfect ET Award. A big Thank You to Paul for taking Your Reporter for a passenger ride yesterday, most enjoyable experience. Nicky Frost and her Camaro always a welcome sight, opened her account with a -0.0114 breakout. New racer Phil Jones into #2 spot in his second competitive outing in what was Paul Brown's dragster, Phil made a number of test runs here yesterday. Very straight run for Richie Webb's Beetle, one almost feels cheated that it didn't go all over the place but probably a lot better for Richie that way.

10:50 Super Pro ET qualifying session 1 All four cars in the first two pairs broke out. Third pair and Simon Gough was next to have a go at the Eurodragster.com / Gold RV Perfect ET Award, +0.0020 on dial-in, great run off the trailer and another example of testing paying off as Simon was here yesterday. Gary Gooding in the Supra dialled in with a 9.00, Super Pro cutting off at 8.99 I guess someone will have to have a word. Eurodragster.com sponsor Peter Walters back in his Super Pro ET car after a very competeent brace of 5.9s in Dave Wilsons A/Fuel Dragster yesterday, tyres didn't strike on the burnout but a time on the board. Next pair and Dave Russell unseated Simon Gough going 0.0014 on dial-in, another nice run. Break-out but we think a new PB of 8.2141 for Jack Brewster, well done Jack! A couple of pairs later Dave Gibbons looked to get very close to the right guardrail in the shutdown area. He had a hold of it though, pulled it away gently. Great run for Wouter van Leersum after a torried day yesterday with not a lot going right, +0.0125 good for #3 at that point. Thomas Haas having run a big PB in the 8.0s in testing yesterday dialled in 8.04 and clocked 8.0660, good for #4 at that point. Liam Jones' dragster now resplendent in an RAF camouflage colour scheme, 6.95 dial-in. Crew armed the nitrous and one of the bottles proceeded to empty itself, Crew Chief Garry Coull closed the valve and signalled Liam to shut off. Rene Ehrisman rolled the beams affecting his ET, plenty of opportunity today to sort that out. In the other lane something came off Rod Harrison's dragster about 300 feet out. Next pair and a cheery wave for your reporter from Dave Catton as he came round the corner, then he and Brad Jackson shut off for fluid in the shutdown area, Rod Harrison's dragster the culprit. Hopefully no engine damage for Rod. A visit from Super Pro ET racer Steve Saunders and wife Babs during the clean-up, bearing a huge tub of Haribo somw of which we had better leave aside for Kirstie. Thanks Babs and Steve! On the restart team-mates Dave Catton and Brad Jackson into #8 and #7 respectively. Liam Jones back for another go having sorted out the errant Nitrous, or turned it off judging by the change in dial-in to 7.50. Hesitation off the line but a time on the board. Breakout but new PB we think for Shari Oomen in the other lane. Next up Dave Ward and we notice that team member Felicity Gibbs' name has popped up in Sportsman ET on the UK National Finals entry list, always good to see a new name in any class. Good also to see the return of Paul Marston's PT Bruiser, good test runs yesterday followed up by an 8.2920 on an 8.20 dial-in, good baseline. 6.0813 on a 6.00 dial-in for Martyn Jones in the Top Methanol Dragster which isn't, the usual early shut-off.

Right now it is very foggy outside; in fact the eighth mile is not visible from our office in Race Control. This was the case yesterday also but it burnt off soon enough. We are scheduled to start at 09:30 with Pro ET Q1 and we have at least five qualifying cycles scheduled.
