Lucas Oil Junior Dragster qualifying session 2 Bonnie Wallace in at #14 and Katie Ellis at #21 after losing their first round passes to DQs. Next pair and Cloe Ringer made a big move, #23 to #4. Ruaridh Hart in at #4 with his first run of the day, Super Comp racer Paul Brown an interested spectator. Aaron Fensome up from #88 to #8 two pairs later. After a -0.007 last round Joe Kellett pulled a -0.004 this time, close to the Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award but no chocolate cigar. Next pair and Saskia Jell made a big move up the ladder, #22 to #5. Sam Holland-Villa and Shannon Kiddell side by side from #14 to #11 and #15 to #9 respectively. Thaliah Gibb closed the session with a -0.0030, closer yet to the close to the Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award but red's red. Morgan Wilson was subsequently excluded from the event for running over 85 mph in this session.

Nostalgia Fuel Car Challenge session 2 (left lane first) Wendy Baker shut off, Nick Davies shut off; Adam Gleadow 9.4595/115.38 bye; Robbie Grabham 16.9043/43.55 bye; Nick Davies 6.5398/231.24 bye; Tim Garlick 9/4609/76.33 bye Wendy pulled the usual long burnout but then could not get reverse and shut off. Nick was back from his burnout and ready to stage but with the Time Warp FC on the track at the eighth the very sensible decision was taken to shut Nick off. 1.1860 to sixty for Adam, off the gas about 300 feet out and then another second or two on the pedal in the second half. Adam's car stopped on the shutdown area, clean-up in his lane after retrieval. 1.2776 to sixty for Robbie, off the gas shortly after, first run without throttle stop and very competently handled. Great, straight run for Nick. 1.1277 to sixty and 4.3730/176.97 at the eighth, sounded to be on the throttle all the way. Tremendous screaming burnout by Tim then 1.0782 to sixty, some shake a couple of hundred feet out, then off the gas just past 330 feet. 17:20 Top Fuel Dragster Test and Tune session (left lane first) Chris Andrews 8.1972/79.80, Duncan Micallef 8.0456/76.33; Noah Stutz 25.2036/18.26 bye A Test and Tune session, not counting for qualifying. Duncan on his way back from his burnout before Chris pulled his own burnout but Chris returned quite speedily. 0.8915 to sixty for Chris and 0.8501 for Duncan, synchronised shake and both off the gas about 120 feet out. Noah's motor hesitated on start-up but stayed lit. Tune-Up Lite still in the Duster but looking and sounding good. Steve's first run of the season and a great way to start it, PB for both ET and speed judging by the notes kindly given to us by Robin. Well done Steve! 1.0648 to sixty, the big Chevy swaying left and right as Steve looked to drive through mild shake, 4.2987/171.11 at the eighth, stayed on it pretty much all the way. Into #1 spot at that point. Wayne Nicholson's 'Vette pushed out of the way before Roger ran, problems starting I guess. Looked like a planned launch for Roger, 1.1602 to sixty and a gear change and shut it off. Dave and the team looked happy enough. Fantastic run for Robert even with the right side door unlatched, 0.9808 to sixty, stormning eighth 3.9832/184.22, very close to the left guardrail but stayed with it. Rick had problems launching, 3.0328 to sixty tells that tale. Huge -0.2789 red for Andy Wright not that it matters in qualifying. Stellar 0.0015 RT for Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy R but then bad shake and a pedal, 1.4848 to sixty to Andy W's 1.1610. Andy W off the gas by about 250 feet, Andy R back on it clocking 4.9279/179.24 at the eighth, shut off before ths stripe. Qualifying after this session:
16:55 ACU Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 2 (left lane first) Steve Woollatt 6.5441/173.69 bye; Christian Jäger shut off Very nice run for Steve. 1.0387 to sixty feet, unusually for this bike drifting right a little but Steve had it covered. 4.1322/179.78 at the eighth and off the gas about 1000 feet out. Nice burnout for Christian but then shut off for a fluid leak. Qualifying after this session:
16:50 Top Methanol qualifying session 2 (left lane first) Gareth Ellis 7.1037/214.09 bye; Steph Milam 6.1954/204.42, Danny Bellio 5.9115/204.27 0.9534 to sixty, front wheels climbing, when the front end came down the rear tyres unloaded. The FC made a move to the left and Gareth pedalled a couple of times then got back on the gas. Great match between Steph and Danny, RTs nothing to write home about, maybe Danny was being the gentleman and waiting for Steph to go first. 0.9634 to sixty for Danny, looked from here like a small amount of shake about 150 feet out. 1.0274 to sixty for Steph, left slick was blackstriping but the left one wasn't and the car started to drift right but Steph stayed with it. Danny to the eighth in 3.7914/195.04 to Steph's 4.0447/189.79, both off the gas before the stripe. Qualifying after this session:
16:40 Jet FC shootout (eighth mile) Gerd Habermann 4.9302/166.04 def. Martin Hill 4.0312/204.12 red light -0.0300 red for Martin, +0.0124 RT for Gerd. Martin there first by 0.9434 but to no avail. 16:35 Super Pro ET qualifying session 2 Roy Walker up from ;16 to #5 in the first pair. Next up the ladder was Steve Johnson up from #14 to #8, in the other lane a breakout but we believe a PB for Steve Saunders, well done Steve! Big move for Dave Russell, up from #23 to #3. Brad Jackson made this session after the NG Motorsport team had to fix gearbox and engine damage overnight, in at #8. In the other lane Roy Wilding moved up from #22 to #4. Eurodragster.com sponsor Pete Walters in a big move up from #22 to #2. New PB for Billy Gane, 8.7932 on an 8.90 dial-in, happy crew but stayed #16. 16:10 Pro ET qualifying session 2 The wind has changed direction since Q1, now a tailwind (i.e. north easterly). Let's see how many that catches out. Rick McCann up from #12 to #4 in the first pair, two for two red lights although it doesn't matter in qualifying. Tig Napier in the other lane up to #7. Eurodragster.com sponsor Nic Williams up from #19 to #14 with a big twisty Super Stock launch. Personal Best for Tim Stanbury next pair, well done Tim, big breakout but yesterday's problems in testing evidently sorted. Huge cloud of smoke from Keith Herbert's Sport Fury, track checked and word came back that the track was OK, hopefully Keith's car is also. -0.0018 red for Simon Innes, having a punt at the Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award. In the other lane Derek Sanderson moved up from #6 to #2. Another track check followed and word came back that he have fluid at the top end, word also came back that Simon Innes' block has a big hole in it. A clean-up ensued. 15:30 Wild Bunch qualifying session 1 A shock absentee is Chris Hartnell. Chris is OK, the dragster is OK, the problem is with their Winnibago. New PB and concomitant breakout for Adz Price in the first pair, wel done Adz! Bob Hawkins' first competitive outing in the former Speed Demon slingshot, hesitation off the line but then back on it, feathering the throttle before half track then shutting it off. Terry Clifford pushed back after his burnout.

Topspeed Automotive Sreet Eliminator qualifying session 1 First look at Damian Halliwell's Biscayne, very nice piece of kit. Wheelsin at the hit for almost everyone in this session, wheelspin and a pop from the motor for Andy Bond, pulled over about 100 feet out and pushed back.

14:55 Nostalgia Fuel Car Challenge session 1 (left lane first) Great pass from Nick to open his account, judging by the terminal speed shut off just a touch early. Tim scheduled for a launch, 1.0563 sixty foot time. Robbie's first run in Freddy, understandably no burnout. Idled off the line and motor stopped about twenty feet out. Restarted shortly afterwards and idled down the track to get a feel for the car. 14:10 ACU Super Street Bike qualifying session 1 Not to be confused with the FIM European Super Street Bike Cup which is also running at this event with pretty much the same cast. Steve Venables ominously on the start line in ordinary clothing rather than leathers, here's hoping it doesn't mean a terminal problem with his bike. Storming 1.2440 sixty for Garry Bowe presaged what we think is a Personal Best ET, if so then well done Garry! Fantastic run for Luke Farrugia, huge wheelie off the line but stayed with it like the lion-hearted Maltese he is and we think blew away his Personal Best with a 7.5957. Banzai! Well done Luke! Superb run for Pete Field to complete the session, close to if not a new PB, well done Pete and Frank!

Rolled through stage first time, these turbo cars are not easy to stage. 1.2182 to sixty, car moved left and right in the first half. 4.9337/147.74 at the eighth and off it in the second half. Spencer told me yesterday that the car is on Tune-Up Lite, understandably so. I am guessing that this run won't count for qualifying but so long as Chris is in the official qualifying list we'll show him. Nice long burnout by Andy but then the motor cut out at the hit. My guess from the car's behaviour would be blower belt but very difficult to see from here. 0.9831 to sixty for Robert but then hit shake and shut it off as the car turned right about 150 feet out. Kev ran 7.0405/188.17 in testing with his new Thunderbird yesterday, smoke in the shutdown area evidently not terminal. 1.0816 to sixty, 4.6337/152.65 at the eighth, the car looked to be skating a little, just past the eighth a huge cloud of smoke and a flash of flame from the left side of the motor. Track checked and clean-up ensued with Rick Garrett and Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy Robinson left to run. Rick shut off after returning from his burnout, not immediately obvious what the problem was. Andy took the bye in the newly-orange Camaro. Looks great! Instant shake and screaming motor at the hit, pedal then back on it, shut off before the eighth 5.2623/122.88 at the eighth. Qualifying after this session:

Not having done his burnout he was allowed to restart, the usual blip of the throttle in the water but then shut off before burning out. 11:55 Top Methanol qualifying session 1 (left lane first) Danny Bellio 8.8367/97.56, Steph Milam 6.7206/169.81; Gareth Ellis 6.4257/229.00 bye Great 120-foot burnout by Danny to open his 2014 account. -0.2934 red for Danny, clutch dragging the car through the beams. 1.0177 to sixty to Steph's pedalled 1.1002. Danny off the gas before the eighth 4.5139/117.57, Steph hard on the throttle moving about the lane 4.2850/180.67, shut off after half track. Gareth ran a mid-six here in testing yesterday, shut off very early after a storming first half with which the team were very pleased. 0.9388 to sixty feet then shake and the engine revs started to rise, a pedal about 200 feet out then back on it, 4.1892/172.28 at the eighth and then off the gas in the second half. 11:20 Super Pro ET qualifying session 1 Great driving job by Bob Doyle in the sixth pair, saved the car from going over I'm sure. Violent right turn by the Datsun, fluid under a rear tyre judging by the track clean-up. Bob kept hold of the car as it looked to go up on two wheels, kept it in his own lane and a gentle tag of the left guardrail. Chute out and then the car moved across into the right lane in the shutdown area in front of Amanda Cox who realised what was happening and was on the brakes. The car ended up nestled against the right guardrail, upright. Word quickly came back that Bob is quite OK. In the re-run Paul Przybyl into #2 at that point on his first competitive pass, well done Paul! Very snazzy new team shirts for Steve Saunders' crew and very snazzy new paint on the dragster of Eurodragster.com sponsor Pete Walters. Great pass for Dave Ward to take #1 spot, +0.0034, closest yet to the Eurodragster.com / Gold RV Perfect ET Award. Wayward pass for Laura Turburvile next pair, wisely shut it off at about half track. Next pair and 0.9767 with shake to sixty feet for Martyn Jones in his almost-a-TMD,shut it off before half track. Great to see Rod Harrison and team back on track after appalling engine damage in testing a couple of weeks ago, hard work rewarded, checkout pass with all looking good.
