Latest update 20:20

If you are in the market for a Junior Dragster, Stacey Reed's car is for sale turnkey priced at £5800. Stacey is now running Junior Drag Bike having joined the class in August at Shakey.

Top Fuel Bike racer Steve Woollatt and crew member Phil Baimbridge had problems with the bike's clutch. "It's a process of elimination to find the problem, the bike is three tenths off where we want it to be", said Phil. "It was fine after the clutch was fully engaged but we are losing time up until 330ft. We need more track time". Steve had an early exit at the Euro Finals after a failure of the no.4 big end. He said "We had a replacement crank, new rods and a new make of shell after the crank snapped at Hockenheim but the new stuff went awry. When we stripped the engine down it wasn't as bad as we thought it would be as the other three were fine so we are not sure".

Pro Mod racer Kev Slyfield was pleased to run a high six in qualifying. He said "We had a bit of shake. The track can be difficult at this time of year, the car was running ok but lost a cylinder". Kev is having a new '57 T-Bird built by Andy Robinson to accept his current running gear and the unique Willys is for sale as a rolling chassis.

Pro Mod racer Bruno Bader qualified no.1 with a 6.29. He said "There is too much traction and I had a lot of shake and have to get off the throttle after 60ft and short shifted through the gears after that. We've had a good season and working on consistency as well as performance has helped us".

Pro Mod racer Steve Hall said "We ran 6.56/216, a PB, in testing yesterday. The car was pushing to the left though and had to shut off after a 1.00 60ft time later. We had two bad meetings with engine and electrical problems and today we thought we would run half throttle as we didn't fancy our chances. I was ahead of Graham and then just saw his reflection in the passenger side window and it was far too high up so I realised something was badly wrong. I hope he is ok. We will run later if the dewpoint doesn't come too soon". Steve's sole pass of 7.30 qualified him fifth.

Pro Mod racer Roger Moore ran before Graham Ellis's incident. "Fortunately we had a loose clutch and drove through it on the pass and lifted to avoid any issues. It was sad about Graham and I hope he is alright. We are testing as we are not really in the championship. We have adjusted the four link but there are lots of other variables to help the launch. The nitrous comes in when we shift into second and off when we shift into fourth". Tim Mugridge was visiting with Roger and we look forward to seeing him back on track.

Pro Mod racer and Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy Robinson was the constructor of Graham Ellis's Superbird and inspected the car after the accident. "The driver cell was fully intact and I was so pleased it held up". Andy's runs were both full of tyre shake and the second was a notably quick 0.9479 60ft, a 6.64 with two pedals.

Topspeed Automotive racer and Eurodragster.com sponsor Jon Webster had an early end to his event after transbrake problems pulled him through the beams with the Comet not recording a time on either attempt. He said "As well as that a laptop failed so it hasn't been a good event for us".

Funny Bike racer Nick Daniels ran a 8.04/164 to qualify fourth. He said "After a bad 2012 we sat out the beginning of this season and got rid of the bad parts and replaced the exhaust plenum, wastegate, boost controller and modified the gearbox. We did not cut corners and have taken no risks and with track time and better data we are headed in the right direction". Nick is pictured with crew chief Derren.

Comp Bike racer Tony Clarke said "The year has been a mixed bag, a bit of a roller coaster. We have made small changes but overall it has been a good season and we only missed one event". The bike is effectively a super street bike with nitrous and a slick. Tony's policy of consistency has led to a PB (not at this event) of 7.93 and a possible championship chance.

Comp Bike racer Dave Batcheler has moved up from 8.50 Bike to Comp Bike with a bigger bottom end to the motor which now displaces 1340cc. He said "I've had teething troubles with electrical problems and shifting so I have disconnected the AMS and gone back to nitrous. But now the clutch has gone and I need to put in another plate". Dave tested to a 8.66 yesterday.

Junior Drag Bike racer and 2012 champion Louis Davies is atop the points. He said "It's my fourth year of racing and I'm twelve. This bike was new last year but I have got a new 125cc bike for next year with six speeds and a new frame". After the first qualifying session Louis is qualified second.

Comp Bike racer Phil Crossley has had a consistent year running a total of thirteen seven second passes and gaining a new PB of 7.72/167 in the second session. He said "I am planning to find more performance without running too much nitrous. We have placed a Lamda oxygen sensor in the exhaust which detects if the engine is running too rich or too lean".

Jerry and Sharron Collier are running three vehicles this weekend with Skye in her Junior Dragster and Scott in his final year of Junior Drag Bike. Jerry, running Pro Stock bike, said "I launched and when I punched second had an electrical fault which is down to an issue with the dyno box but we will have to check the gearbox". Skye is qualified xth in her Junior and Scott is qualified xth in the Junior Bike. Scott has competed in every race in his class for the last nine years.

Comp Bike racer Jemma Venables tested successfully yesterday in her first time on the track since the Summernationals. She said "I ran a new PB of 7.49/191 on my fifth pass after 8.0, 7.8, 7.6 and 7.5" My Dad Steve has been tuning the clutch to get the bike down to its potential". Jemma now works on a cosmetics counter for Benefit Cosmetics.

Super Twin Gas racer Terry Green is qualified no.1 with a 9.77/135 and is helped by Chris Mott. Terry said "I had a hiccup on the launch when I opened the throttle and the engine almost died, it hurt my reaction time too".

Super Pro ET racer Laura Turburville's father and car owner Ian tells us he has two dragsters and a tow car for sale. "Laura will be stepping back from racing a little in 2014 and we will be selling her slingshot dragster and also, as a roller, our rear engined dragster which is set up to have a Hayabusa engine fitted to run a seven. We will share the driving of my blown slingshot with Laura running at Dragstalgia". Laura has started a media and TV course at Birmingham City University.

Super Pro ET racer Mark Adams is pleased with his season running consistent sevens. He said "I would like to thank the Harrisons who have made the season a fantastic experience for Lucy and I and for Karl's mechanical expertise. I have learned a lot, Rod is pleased with my performance and we are planning to run the dragster again next season.

Super Pro ET racer Rod Harrison was delighted with a 6.46/203 on a 6.40 dial. He said "The car is coming on, I am getting a feeling for it and we are learning more about clutch settings. There is such a range of weights we can use on the clutch and I think we are only running 60-70% of what we could run. The engine is fine, not up to spec for Top Methanol however we will need additional funding and to run TMD is the dream". In the meantime the car has impressed many with its performance and such details as the separate offset mounts for each of the twin chutes.

Super Pro ET racer Lee Darby ran his best time for some years, an 8.43/164. He said "We're back on track after five years of working on it, even so I forgot to purge the nitrous and there was too much in it. We will give it more power now and hope greed doesn't get the better of us." The nitrous 585cu in engine has twin Holley Dominator carbs. In recent years Lee has also lowered the truck, put in a new cage and shed 500lb in weight to run a best of 8.2.

Super Pro ET racer Steve Saunders has enjoyed running the full championship although his final position has suffered from fuel pump woes that lasted through the season. He said "We have done lots of testing and did five passes yesterday. At the Euros our fuel pump drive broke in the first round of eliminations. We had a spare but the problem wasn't apparent. We think we have cured it now but it definitely broke at the wrong moment". Next season budgetary considerations will limit Steve's schedule however he would like to run Top Sportsman.

Super Pro ET racer Martyn 'Sid' Jones suffered major tyre shake in his first pass today. Crew chief Crunch said "The car moved right and then left and Sid then got off it. It was great to get into the final of the fifty car field at the Euro Finals as Sid was the first car to run Super Pro ET back in 1991 when it was a match race with Robin Read". Although it is academic, the items that Sid would need to run TMD are titanium bellhousing, titanium roll cage shield and a different chute tether.

Sportsman ET racer Michelle Walker was used to running husband Roy's Cortina on the street with a small block engine. She said "Roy nagged me to have a go on track and I finally agreed but wasn't that keen. I ran it at Dragstalgia and the Mopars and got my license and I then started feeling I was getting the bug. This is my first meeting in competition and I have picked my dial-in out of the air. Not running it on the strip would have been a waste of car, but as well I have driven it here and will drive it back home which is the way I think it should be done. Now Roy wants me to have a drive in his Super Pro ET car!"

Super Pro ET racer John Atkinson has fixed the transmission woes from the Euro Finals and ran a back on-form 8.81 on an 8.76 dial in. He said "It's doing what it should be, at the last event it didn't run right for two days. Looking back, the convertor probably started going at the Summernationals but the problem was masked as there was a big headwind". The team thanks Amanda Cox for the continued loan of her convertor and trans.

Super Pro ET and VW Pro racer Frank Wambach is racing here for the first time in his Corrado. He said "I have a new BBC with aluminium heads and block meaning it is 50-60kg lighter at the front. At Hockenheim the car did a wheelie, I didn't see the road any more and everything went blue which was scary, but the car in the other lane red-lit so I won anyway. I started launching soft here but now have some help". The car's builder Chris Isaacs and former owner Spencer Tramm are pictured helping Frank adjust his wheelie bars from 140mm to 115mm off the ground. Frank hopes to improve on his 8.72 best so far.

Super Pro ET racer Liam 'Bomber' Jones has had a great first season as described most entertainingly in our news update by crewman Garry Coull. Garry said "We came yesterday to test, had some issues with the starter motor and flex plate and have borrowed a starter motor from Thomas Haas. We had broken bolts in the flex plate as they are not long enough and spent ten hours trying to start the car". Liam ran a backed-off 7.91 this morning. He said "We are learning the car and tweaking the nitrous, the next stage is to be consistent. I am happy with the season which has gone well".

Super Pro ET racer Thomas Haas from Switzerland is here with his immaculate Plymouth Valiant with 588cu in power using a single carb to get down the track in low 8s. He said "This is my third time here after the Euro Finals in 2011 and 2012. I entered this year but had a big engine problem with a rod through the block at Hockenheim and I had to fix it between races. I did four passes yesterday and the full passes were 8.26 and 8.25". The car was built in the US in 1991 and Thomas bought it in 2011 when it needed restoration. He has done all the engine work and installed a new rear axle and repainted the full tube chassis to run in German Super Pro.

Super Pro ET racer Nick Good is in the team's unsupercharged dragster usually driven by Dave Catton. Yesterday was spent with Brad Jackson licensing in the car to be ready for 2014 in the team's third car. Nick said "Brad performed excellently, and did everything we told him to do and ran a best of 7.78 which is only two hundredths off Dave's PB. I have only done one full pass before today and there is actually more to think about with the cooling system, more guages. It's the first run for the car in cool air with injection which will produce some good data".

Sportsman ET racer Craig Wright has secured his second National Championship in the class and is now looking at a third consecutive SPRC championship. He said "No-one has won both track and the National Championships in Sportsman ET before. We tested yesterday and had an inlet manifold vacuum leak, the first problem for two years. Eventually we were running within three hundredths of a second between both lanes. The weather has thrown us a curve today". Craig thanks new sponsor Damn Good which does creative exhibition work and displays and Crew Chief Chris for supplying the new team shirts. Pictured are crew Kat, Kate, Chris and Craig

Sportsman ET racer Lucy Millard is racing her Suzuki Impreza here and also in hill climbing. She said "I've always been into motorsports as my father has been involved. I've known Craig Wright as a childhood friend and thought I would have a go. I started at Bug Jam but the clutch went. I am planning on doing the whole of next season. I like the atmosphere at the track. The car has gone 12.9s but we have done a lot of work on it and hope it will go quicker. Thanks to my sponsor Alan Jeffrey of enginetuner.co.uk who has put a bigger turbo on and I have plans for a stroker engine. I am also racing in the Jap series".

Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator Brian Payne is again using his backup Ford Zephyr. He said "In the Euro Finals the engine overrevved and cut out on the last run and we are still trying to find the cause. We have sent the gearbox to Andy Frost to have a look at. I am pleased to win my third back to back National Championship which has only happened once before in this class by Steve Pateman in 2001-3". Brian ran a 9.7 in the Zephyr, his best in the backup car.

Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association racer Nick Davies is racing for the championship this weekend. He said "We are gutted that Joe Bond is not here to run against and we will need to win once against Dave Grabham to tie him and to win twice to gain the championship". Chaos is as ever immaculately prepared however Nick will probably only have three runs this weekend due to delays caused by weather and Graham Ellis's crash.
