17:40 FIM Europe Supertwin invitational qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Christian Jäger 8.3821/113.76 bye; Al Smith 9.2718/98.20, Job Heezen 8.2124/164.86 Great start for Christian. 1.1061 to sixty, front wheel up in the air and riding comfortably. Front wheel thumped down in a puff of smoke and the bike started to head for the guardrail. After one fetaher of the throttle Christian shut it off. 1.2934 to sixty for Al, 1.2924 for Job. Job had his hands full as the bike was trying to pitch him off. In the other lane Al was off the throttle after the eighth 5.2412/123.09. Job to the eighth in 5.1334/137.41 and gave it some more before shutting it off. Qualifying after this session:
FIM Europe Top Fuel Bike invitational qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Rene van den Berg no time, Mike Vickers 20.8146/30.38; Ian King 6.8226/165.45, Steve Woollatt 6.4057/206.11 Rene got to sixty feet in 1.3600 but then smoke from the motor and lost drive. Mike got to sixty in 1.5072 but his motor sounded to be misfiring, then smoke and he shut it off. 1.0551 to sixty for Ian, 1.0804 for Steve. Puff of smoke from Steve's motor but stayed with it. 4.1612 to sixty for Steve to Ian's 4.2052. Ian feathered the throttle in the second half then shut it off before the stripe. Qualifying after this session:
17:30 FIM Europe Pro Stock Bike invitational qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Mark Smith 8.3170/159.63 bye; Len Paget 7.8899/145.70 bye; Martin Bishop 7.3375/181.42, Martin Newbury 7.7525/154.74 Same story for Mark as the previous pass - smoke from the motor but the motor sounded to be running normally. 1.1821 to sixty and 5.2965/132.84 at the eighth. 1.1204 to sixty for Len, 4.8455/137.71, motor sounded to be misfiring in the second half. Bish continues the improvements. 1.1158 to sixty, 4.6786/149.50 at the eighth, stayed in second place. Very slight improvement for Eurodragster.com sponsor Martin N but consistent and a good base for more. Qualifying after this session:
17:20 European Funny Car Series qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Kevin Kent 5.8003/264.20 bye; John Spuffard 5.6696/228.14 bye; Leif Helander 5.9073/213.81 bye; Henrik Christensen 9.0002/95.90 bye (observed run) 1.0877 to sixty for Kevin, 2.7471 to 330 feet by which time a cylinder was out on the right side. 3.9721/207.10 at the eighth and the cylinder cleared, motor sounded lumpy towards the stripe but Kevin stayed with it. Kevin into the ladder at that point bumping out Spuff who was next to run. Spuff back into the ladder with his run. 0.9638 to sixty, a cylinder out on the right side. 2.5017 to 330 feet, then ominous looking yellow-orange flanes from the headers and the motor hesitated. Header flames went out then back on again, again the yellow-orange flames and smoke from the motor in the shutdown area. At this point Jason Phelps towed back to the pits, his ladder placing safe. 0.9999 to sixty for Leif, 2.5905 at 330 feet. 3.8224/198.59 at the eighth, smoke from the headers as Leif was on and off the throttle in the second half. Concern from tuner John Smith as Henrik's motor started, rushing back under the body to adjust the idle with the nearest available spanner whilst one of Henrik's crew sprinted for the proper item. Risto's and Jari's crew then had a clutch-saving game of "Who can shove their dragster into the bleach box the quickest", I would say that Jari's crew just about won that one. 0.8618 to sixty for Risto, 0.8596 for Jari. Both going great guns then both had their rear slicks blaze about 250 feet out. Both stayed on the throttle then Jari got off it at the eighth 3.6405/172.78, Risto stayed on the gas behind a wall of smoke, 3.8331/171.61 at the eighth. Both stranded on the shutdown area. No reverse for Antti after the burnout so he shut off and hopped the guardrail. The safety crews sped to Gus' aid but was and is quite OK and had got himself out of the car as they arrived. Big 100-foot burnout from Graham on the re-start. very gentle launch, 1.2701 to sixty, but looked deliberately so. Added throttle as the car went down the track, 5.3349/150.57 at the eighth. Kev Slyfield moved out of stage before the lights ran. 1.0687 to sixty for Steve, 4.5487/158.52 at the eighth, into the sixes with a handfil of passes on the new car, well done Steve! Jean, having just been bumped by Steve, was in the next pair, 7.5960 or better to get him back in. And get in he did! Frosty had the better sixty 1.1162 to 1.4125 and the much better eighth 4.3137/173.67 to Jean's 5.1621/156.87. Another very straight pass for Frosty and up the ladder, Jean in at the expense of Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy Robinson. Quite a performance getting a burnout out of Marcus but we got there. Nice run to start with, 1.0269 to sixty and no sign of shake, tyres blackstriping nicely. 4.3362/162.44 at the eighth but from here it looked as if the blower belt broke - either way the motor quit. Great run for Wayne. 1.0613 to sixty and 4.2241/174.94 at the eighth, a new PB to boot. 1.0151 to sixty for Norbert K and then bad shake and off the gas about 200 feet out. 1.0728 to sixty for Mattias and 1.1454 for David whose tyres were already shaking. A few feet later Mattias' tyres shook and for a moment the whole place felt like an earthquake with two motors screaming. Almost carbon copy of one of his earlier runs for Robert, 1.0108 to sixty, then tried to drive through shake and the Camaro turned left at the eighth taking out the eighth mile stop and both 1000 foot reflectors. Robert put the chutes out to get it straight again. 1.1094 to sixty for Marc, tyres shaking by that point. 12:15 FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 3 (left lane first) Thomas Nataas 4.1020/281.40 bye; Jari Halinen 6.2365/97.98, Micke Kågered 5.7311/121.24; Antti Horto 4.2813/236.22, Risto Poutiainen 5.6201/116.25; Stig Neergaard 4.2307/280.41, Anita Mäkelä 4.5277/239.75 Superb run for Thomas to start the session. 0.8414 to sixty - one of the quickest sixties I have ever seen - 2.2090 to 330 feet, blackstriping all the way, 3.2399/246.17 at the eighth with a cylinder or two out by the look of things, into #1 spot from #7. Simon is claiming the credit for this one as on his pit note visit he advised the Andersens to make he tune-up a little more aggressive. We call him Simon Biscuit. Big 0.1550 to 0.3650 holeshot for Jari and the much better sixty 0.8776 to Micke's 0.9663. Jari hit shake and smoke past sixty feet and shut it off; Micke's tyres blackstriped from the line but then the Bahco Tools dragster hit shake and headed for the centre line and he shut it off before 330 feet. Risto away first 0.1320 to Antti's 0.2080 and had the much better sixty 0.8577 to 0.9061. Risto looking good at 330 feet 2.2576 to Antti's 2.3230 but then his tyres suddenly blazed and from here the car behaved as if the blower belt had broken. 3.3460/243.88 to the eighth for Antti, shut it off a touch before 1000. Stig away first 0.1368 to Anita's 0.1865, the better sixty was Stig's 0.8914 to 0.9467 as was the 330 foot 2.3193 to Anita's 2.4132. Kev rolled the beams before hitting the throttle which will have invalidated his incrementals save the eighth speed of 144.84, shut it off in the second half. 1.4993 to sixty for Jean, some hesitation from the motor. 5.1266/157.39 at the eighth, flames from both banks and shut off and chute out before the stripe. David rolled the beams then hit bad shake when he hit the throttle. Tried pedalling but gave up about 200 feet out. 1.2073 to sixty with shake for Mats, motor screaming, a brief pedal then on his way. 4.4840/183.40 to the eighth. Huge screaming burnout for Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy, his Camaro's motor becoming a soprano there for a moment. 1.0964 to sixty for Steve, storming 0.9778 for Andy then both hit shake. Andy tried to drive through it and hung on until the Camaro almost crossed the centreline at 330 feet, shut it off at that point. Steve pedalled and gave it another go, shutting off in the second half. Big jump for Marcus 0.2471 to Frosty's 0.7454, the better sixty 1.0892 to Frosty's 1.1863. Sounded like Marcus' blower panel blew before the eighth 4.7871/126.87. Great run for Frosty, 4.4503/173.04 at the eighth and a huge top end speed for the street-legal car. Very straight pass also - I think Frosty's is the straightest-steering Pro Mod I have ever seen. Fantastic run for Marc! 1.0096 to sixty, storming 3.8958/191.01 at the eighth, PB by a mile and on the first half of a European ET record, well done Marc! New PB also for Mats but possibly an expensive PB. 1.0520 to sixty, 4.3061/167.91 at the eighth but then smoke from the motor in the second half and all the way down the shutdown area. Track checked and all OK so hopefully nothing untoward. 1.0453 to sixty for Bruno then bad shake and shut it off. 0.9625 to sixty for Micke, drove through shake, the Camaro moved left then right but Micke stayed with it. 3.9144/189.61 to the eighth and a new European ET record backed up by his previous best. Sounded like Micke lost drive and he shut it off. 4.3267/164.07 to the eighth for Michael, an improvement good for one place. Fantastic pair between Jimmy and Thomas. Jimmy visibly moved first 0.0523 to 0.1343 but Thomas had the better sixty 0.9765 to 0.9821. Jimmy back on top at the eighth 4.2355/166.55 to Thomas' 4.2614/164.61 and the first 6.5-second Pro Stock pass in FIA competition, Jimmy's ET backed up by his previous best. Well done Jimmy! Great burnout by Gareth but then the car spun round on the return, almost a 180. Got it stopped before he hit anything. Jürgen rolled through stage and then hit the throttle, looked like a good run he lost. The session ended with one of the best TMFC pairings I have ever seen, the cars looked side-by-side all the way. Adam just away first 0.2204 to 0.2387. Adam had the better sixty 0.9466 to Rob's 1.0015 and better eighth 3.7494/199.71 to 3.8231/197.69. Rob had the chutes out before the stripe. Next pair and Noah Stutz moved off the #32 bump up to #21. Tom Atkinson back up the ladder, #9 to #6 next pair. Roy Wilding next to make a move, up from #20 to #13. Roy Walker slotted in ahead of him, #19 to #12 next pair then Simon Gough took #13 spot from #26. Jayne Kay into the ladder, #33 to #31 but a precarious position with some of the other exiles yet to run. John Everitt up from #23 to #15 next pair; in the other lane Marc Henney broke out and he is a DNQ for eliminations. Dave Evans in the Last Chance Saloon moved up from #34 to #3. Super Street qualifying after session 2 Mark Watkins up from #8 to #4 in the first pair. Next pair and Halvor Overby moved up from #8 to #3 with a nice double-wheelie run. Another bizarre incident for Dave Cherrett, the Delivery turning hard left about 100 feet out. Dave got it stopped very quickly. Difficult to say from here what the problem was. In the other lane an improvement for Martyn Sanger but stayed in #4.

07:45 Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the FIA Main Event brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car. It hardly seems like seven hours since we were last in our office... which is probably because it is only seven hours since we were last in the office. The Webster Race Engineering / Nimbus Motorsport is on-line and will broadcast live video and commentary / Nitro FM audio so long as the track is active. We currently have our standard one-camera set-up running but as soon as M@ikel and our buddies from Doyousee.me arrive and fire up their kit we will swap to the multi-camera set-up. It's a beautiful day here at Santa Pod Raceway, sunny and mild. My advice to anyone within driving distance is to get in your car and get here because it's going to be another epic day. If you cannot physically get here then stay by your computer and we'll bring you all the news. Andy Marrs of TSI Timers Europe and Your Reporter got their heads together this morning and we are agreed that the following records have already been set:
