Super Pro ET eliminations round 3 Huge, near-vertical wheelie for Joe Stevens in his race against Martyn Jones. The Sunbeam thumped back down to terra firma and stopped at the finish line smoking, hopefully not too much damage. Excellent 0.0027 RT for Liam Jones in his race against Pel Norman.

FIM Europe Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Filippos Papafilippou shut off (bye); Filippos Papafilippou 6.7156/196.31 bye; Rikard Gustafsson 6.3678/212.93 bye Fil shut off before staging for drops of rain in the air. We then had a brief but heavy shower but the track dried without much in the way of manual intervention. On the restart another PB for Fil. 1.0773 to sixty, 4.2908/166.58 to the eighth, and up into #4 spot. Rikard follows it up with the world's quickest Funny Bike pass! 1.0432 to sixty, not a hint of shake, 4.1256/179.01 at the eighth. Well done Rikard! Qualifying after this session:
16:45 FIM Europe Supertwin qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Christian Jäger 8.1630/128.34, Job Heezen 8.0657/182.11; Vesa Lipponen 7.3042/169.18, Roman Sixta 8.4380/163.70; Martijn de Haas 7.3734/158.48, Samu Kemppainen 7.1030/172.31 Christian's tyre up in smoke at the hit, feathered the throttle and got back on it, 1.2961 at sixty and 4.8980/161.89 at the eighth then off the gas. 1.1647 to sixty for Job, the bike was going left whether or not he wanted it to, 5.1358/114.19 at the eighth hanging off it pretty much at a right angle to get it away from the centre line but judging by the speed staying on the throttle. 1.2471 to sixty for Vesa, Roman's bike loked very lazy to the suxty 1.4768. Vesa to the eighth in 4.7559/161.29 then he sounded to get off the throttle in the second half. 5.3831/127.03 to the eighth for Roman and the bike picked up some in the second eighth. 1.211 to sixty for Martijn, feathered the throttle before the eighth 4.7245/164.84 and off the gas before the stripe. Samu got to sixty in 1.1580 then feathered the throttle a little, candles off and on, 4.4570/165.88 to the eighth and then orange, not nitro, flames in the last hundred feet or so. 16:35 FIM Europe Pro Stock Bike qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Mark Smith 8.2379/162.48 bye; Karl-Heinz Weikum 7.3003/181.41, Martin Bishop 12.7330/56.38; Fredrik Fredlund 7.1161/183.62, Gert-Jan Laseur 7.3704/175.07; Elvira Karlsson 7.0749/185.12, Ulf Ögge 7.1603/184.30; Mark's motor hesitated at the hit and the bike looked to twist in mid-air, lost a lot of time there. 1.4442 to sixty and 5.3140/138.56 at the eighth. 1.0938 to sixty for Karl-Heinz and 1.1166 for Bish, Bish lost drive at the top of third gear, his crew very upset by that. Karl-heinz to the eighth in 4.6164/148.51. 1.0569 to sixty for Fredde, 1.1055 for Gert-Jan. Fredde to the eighth in 4.4851/153.50 and got quite close to the wall. Gert-Jan to the eighth in 4.6521/147.98, Gert-Jan improved but stayed sixth. Another 7.0 for Elvira! 1.0535 to sixty to Ulf's 1.0988, 4.4757/154.55 to the eighth to Ulf's 4.5510/153.96. 16:20 European Funny Car Series qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Leif Helander 5.4889/213.08 bye; Jason Phelps no time DQ, Gordon Smith 11.5477/67.47 0.9944 to sixty for Leif, nitro flames clearly visible, all candles lit. 3.6435/231.57 to the eighth and then one chute deployed just after 1000 feet 4.5551/261.01. Next pair was a bizarre one. 0.9789 to sixty for Gordon, tyres shook and blackstriped and he was off the gas. Meanwhile Jason looked to be in real trouble, off the throttle almost immediately and the FC was shaking - either the steering broke or an axle broke or a wheel failed in some way. Luckily this happened at very low speed but Jason looked to have trouble getting a hold of the car, the FC crossed lanes and he eventually got it stopped at the finish line. 16:10 FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Stig Neergaard no time (bye); Duncan Micallef 4.4218/252.19, Patrik Pers 7.6044/81.68; Chris Andrews 6.6573/19.88, Chris Polidano 4.1727/292.05; Thomas Nataas 16.7197/53.96, Anita Mäkelä 6.5648/90.68 Stig's blower relief panel blew at the hit, which shut off the motor and deployed the chutes. Car stopped about 200 feet out. Duncan away first 0.1737 to 0.2473 and the slightly better sixty foot time 0.9121 to 0.9131. Patrik hit shake, pedalled at sixty feet and then got off the gas. Duncan going great guns towards the eighth 3.5105/233.79 but then there was a flash of flame and a small fire from the left side of the motor, word came back on the track radio "Check the track, there's a hole in the block". Chris P personally overseen by Rune Fjeld on this pass. Chris A away forst 0.0974 to 0.1513, Chris P had the better sixty 0.8950 to 0.9220. Chris A's tyres were blackstriping and then he was off the throttle, I am thinking maybe blower belt. 3.3367/250.07 to the eighth for Chris P, tyres blackstriping all the way and he certainly drove it way out the back door. Improvement for Chris P but stayed in fourth place. A couple of Thomas' fuel hoses came loose at the hit and sprayed fuel all over the place, and I mean a lot of it, the motor pretty much gave up at that point which I can understand. 0.8739 to sixty for Anita with shake and then her tyres blazed about 100 feet out and she shut it off. 15:40 FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Michael Malmgren 6.6994/206.27, Magnus Pettersson 6.8022/203.27; Jimmy Ålund 6.5998/211.08, Thomas Lindström 6.6212/207.05 Magnus away first 0.1048 to 0.1068 and had the better sixty 0.9942 to 1.0339 but Magnus' tyres were shaking and he lost some time there. Michael to the eighth in 4.3212/164.66 to Magnus' 4.3723/160.46. Jimmy away first 0.0526 to Thomas' 0.0603, storming 0.9559 sixty for Thomas to Jimmy's 1.0050. Thomas had the better eighth 4.2455/164.61 to Jimmy's 4.2615/167.10 but Jimmy overhauled Thomas in the second eighth and took the stripe by 0.0291. Thomas up to #2. Qualifying after this session:

Roger away first 0.5324 to 1.0660, looked like a double-step launch for the Viper. Andy to sixty in 1.0283 to Roger's 1.2203, Andy hit shake and was off the pedal for the best part of a second, 4.5620/158.51 to the eighth. Roger to the eighth in 4.4716/164.27. Wayne's motor stopped almost as soon as it started, he was then signalled to wait whilst Graham took his bye. 1.0779 to sixty and hideous shake, a pedal and back on it. 4.7302/159.59 at the eighth and off the gas before the stripe. Wayne then took his turn. 1.0533 to sixty, very slight shake, straight as you like. 4.2312/173.63 at the eighth. Something came off Wayne's car right on the stripe, maybe a body panel. Next an old rivalry resurrected, Micke and Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy. Andy away first 0.1745 to 0.2302 and a scorching sixty 0.9768 to Micke's 1.0079. Andy then hit bad shake and had to pedal about 150 feet out, Micke got ahead and was first to the eighth 4.0539/187.21 to Andy's 4.2972/176.84. Micke up to #3, improvement for Andy but stayed in place. Rick rolled the beams going up on the revs. 1.0213 to sixty for Mats, small amount of shake out to about 150 feet, 4.0793/182.69 to the eighth for Mats and then very close indeed to the guardrail at the finish line, pulled it away quite abruptly too. Frosty jumped the lights, Robert up on the revs but got off them when Frosty's red light illuminated then Robert sat in stage looking at the green whilst Frosty hammered it, good-looking run lost there. Chief Starter Ian Marshall signalled Robert to wait to recycle the Tree. 1.0115 to sixty with some shake, 4.0217/185.72 at the eighth and one place up the ladder. 1.0228 to sixty for David to Mattias' 1.0093, David hit bad shake and the car got very close to the left guardrail. David pedalled and pulled it away. Mattias to the eighth in 4.0065/185.73, 4.1160/180.64 for David. Mattias one place up the ladder. 1.0251 to sixty for Marc then bad shake, ultimately shut it off about 300 feet out as the car moved left and right. 1.0078 to sixty for Bruno, driving through shake to about 120 feet. 3.9494/187.77 at the eighth and up to #2 spot. 15:05 FIA Top Methanol Funny Car qualifying session 4 (left lane first) Steph Milam 6.0927/233.96 bye; Johan Lindberg shut off, Gareth Ellis 6.1313/224.49 bye; Rob Turner 5.9305/223.53, Danny Bellio 5.6429/256.16; Leif Andréasson 5.6280/252.37, Jonnie Lindberg 5.6059/260.59 1.0679 to sixty for Steph, sounded to be feathering the throttle for the first hundred feet or so. 4.0434/191.42 at the eighth. Getting close to her PB. Johan's team not happy with something and signalled him to shut it off. Gareth took the bye, 1.0386 to sixty, sounded like a short shift as the tyres shook off the line, 4.0111/190.23 at the eighth. Very straight pass. Another PB for Danny. 0.9712 to sixty, very slight shake marks on the track but he drove through it, 3.7299 at a big 204.76 at the eighth. Rob to sixty in 1.0076, some shake marks in his lane but a stout 3.8660/192.90 at the eighth, looked to lose a bit of oomph in the second half. Great match between Leif and Jonnie. Leif away first 0.1004 to 0.3226 and the much better sixty 0.9418 to Jonnie's 0.9546. Jonnie pedalled once very briefly at about 200 feet, Leif with the better eighth 3.7017/204.16 to 3.7222/206.76. Improvement for Leif who told me earlier that he really needed a 5.5. Not quite there but getting closer. Qualifying after this session:

Gordon's tyres blackstriped and he was off the throttle before 300 feet. 3.9699/185.66 to the eighth for Jason but cylinders out on the left side and the engine note started to drop.
