FIM Europe Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Rene van den Berg 7.6447/135.22, Filippos Papafilippou 7.5134/196.25; Otto Knebl 6.7561/192.22, Steve Woollatt 12.2474/64.58; Rikard Gustafsson 6.5662/211.98 bye

1.1394 to sixty for Rene, 4.5714/161.29 at the eighth but the motor stopped abruptly just about there, sounds like a pulley came off the bike. Fil's rear slick went up in smoke at the hit, feathered the throttle and it smoked again but Fil persevered and the bike picked up. 5.0819/165.45 at the eighth. Otto to sixty in 1.1675 and Steve in 1.0905, Steve shut it off about 350 feet out. Otto to the eighth in 4.4110/177.06 with smoke from the motor but he stayed on it smoke and all to about 1000 feet and despite the early shut-off reset his Personal Best. Well done Otto! Clean-up in Otto's lane. Great run for Rikard to close the session. 1.1186 to sixty, 4.3005/174.93 to the eighth, slight improvement but stayed second.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Ian King 6.0322/222.19
  2. Rikard Gustafsson 6.5818/209.12
  3. Steve Woollatt 6.6405/214.00
  4. Otto Knebl 6.7561/192.22
  5. Rene van den Berg 7.1181/203.37
  6. Filippos Papafilippou 7.5134/196.25

FIM Europe Supertwin qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Christian Jäger 10.3848/105.05 bye; Vesa Lipponen 7.3680/195.55, Roman Sixta 7.9289/183.59; Martijn de Haas 7.1875/200.78, Job Heezen 10.0401/129.13; Ronny Aasen 6.5996/169.82 bye;

1.0906 to sixty for Christian with rear slick shaking, one leg stuck out for balance and off the throttle before 100 feet. Roman's motor sounded quite rough in the burnout but what do I know since the run was clean enough. 1.2674 to sixty for Vesa, 1.4470 for Roman, Vesa with the much better eighth 4.8565/155.18 to 5.2810/150.11. Both looked to be on the throttle all the way and both moved up the ladder. Great run for Martijn, 1.2903 to sixty and 4.7766/163.65 at the eighth, straight run with no drama. 1.1972 to the eighth for Job and then the bike started to crab to the left - I know crabbing sounds a bit weird for a two-wheel vehicle but that's how it looked. The bike got very close to the centre line and Job eventually had to shut it off. Excellent run for Ronny. 1.1298 to sixty, 4.1707 at the eighth, 214.93 the speed but I am guessing the front wheel was put down in the trap. My magic "Front wheel down in the traps" spreadsheet estimates the true eighth mile speed as 198.18 mph. Ronny shut it off just past the eighth, lots more to come there I think! Into #1 spot.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Ronny Aasen 6.5996/169.82
  2. Samu Kemppainen 6.8719/180.68
  3. Martijn de Haas 7.1875/200.78
  4. Vesa Lipponen 7.3680/195.55
  5. Roman Sixta 7.9289/183.59
  6. Job Heezen 9.1292/103.11
  7. Christian Jäger 9.2385/116.54

Jerry Collier 7.8233/165.48 bye; Ulf Ögge 7.1099/184.32 bye; Len Paget 7.8434/163.10 bye; Karl-Heinz Weikum 7.1624/185.13, Martin Bishop 7.5323/179.21; Fredrik Fredlund 7.1074/184.37, Gert-Jan Laseur 7.5433/155.29; Elvira Karlsson 7.0576/180.68, Kalle Lyrén 7.2142/183.58

1.1488 to sixty for Jerry, 4.9184/137.43 to the eighth getting close to the guardrail but staying on the gas and pulling the bike away from trouble. Great run for Ulf to step up to #2 spot. 1.0733 to sixty, 4.5126/154.07 at the eighth, straight run with no drama. Sounded like brief tyre shake for Len, 1.1294 to sixty and 4.9007/136.98 at the eighth. Karl-Heinz up to third, 1.0913 to sixty and 4.5494/152.49 at the eighth. 1.1923 to sixty for Bish, 4.8467/148.17 at the eighth, no improvement this run. Fredde up to second, 1.0661 to sixty and 4.5043/153.53 at the eighth. 1.0968 to sixty for Gert-Jan, 4.6474/145.62 at the eighth then shut it off early. 1.0581 to sixty for Elvira, 4.4593/154.56 to the eighth, 1.1089 to sixty for Kalle, 4,5751/152.42 to the eighth, slight improvement but stayed in fifth.

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Thomas Nataas 4.0165/298.80, Jari Halinen 10.6962/60.70; Stig Neergaard 8.9616/74.29, Anita Mäkelä 8.2017/87.69; Chris Andrews 4.6303/193.79, Chris Polidano 4.4028/224.15

Thomas away first 0.1428 to 0.1542, the much better sixty 0.8677 to Jari's 0.9169 but Jari's tyres were shaking and then went up in smoke about thirty feet out, two clear egg timer tyre marks on the track, off the pedal about 80 feet out. Thomas to the eighth in 3.2168/262.45 and into #1 spot at the thousand. Some smoke from the motor just before the stripe. 0.8713 to sixty for Stig, 0.9118 for Anita, synchronised hideous shake for both and from here I think I saw Anita's blower belt belt break. Someone's motor popped when it shut off in the shutdown area. Chris A away first 0.1045 to 0.1880, Chris P with the better sixty 0.9114 to 0.9723. Chris P hit shake and tried to drive through it then a pedal about 300 feet out, 3.4375/244.66 to the eighth and a flash of flame then a prolonged fire from his motor. Chris A's tyres were blackstriping and his motor threw the blower belt before the eighth 3.5088/227.88. Safety crews chased Chris P down.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Thomas Nataas 4.0165/298.80
  2. Chris Polidano 4.1910/245.45
  3. Chris Andrews 4.2952/279.43

FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Michael Malmgren 6.7332/204.41, Magnus Pettersson 6.7790/205.19; Jimmy Ålund 6.5882/210.11, Thomas Lindström 14.7043/47.13

Big jump off the line for Michael 0.0724 to 0.2725, Magnus had the better sixty 0.9943 to 1.0120 but Michael had the better eighth 4.3263/162.35 to Magnus' 4.3635/161.08. Although the speed difference was only 1 mph Magnus looked to be reeling Michael in very quickly in the second half. 0.9847 to sixty for Thomas but shake and something audibly broke, he was off the gas at that point. 0.9826 to sixty for Jimmy, 4.2429/166.55 to the eighth and consolidated his #1 spot.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Jimmy Ålund 6.5882/210.11
  2. Thomas Lindström 6.7084/205.34
  3. Michael Malmgren 6.7152/202.41
  4. Magnus Pettersson 6.7790/205.19

FIA Pro Modified qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Micke Gullqvist 10.0334/102.18 bye; Graham Ellis 6.5950/no speed, Kev Slyfield 8.3160/122.51; Steve Hall 7.5213/164.85, Andy Robinson 6.4927/230.10; Rick Garrett 6.5546/211.08, Roger Moore 11.5520/76.32; Andy Wright 6.7053/211.10, Wayne Nicholson 8.5745/177.11; Bruno Bader 6.0729/231.38 bye; Andy Frost 6.4074/225.88, Mats Eriksson 13.9557/67.97; David Vegter 6.2031/227.02, Mattias Wulcan 8.2609/109.25; Marc Meihuizen 8.3725/101.51, Robert Joosten 6.2033/229.05

Micke going into this session not qualified. Consternation form Micke's crew and a brief stop on the way back from the burnout. 1.0264 to sixty, shake and zinging motor, on and off the throttle but still not quick enough to qualify. Synchronised shale for Graham and Kevin about 30 feet out, 1.0374 to sixty for Graham and 1.0581 for Kev. Both off the throttle and then back on, 4.4840/176.37 to the eighth for Graham and the car was accelerating hard. No speed shown for Graham on the timing console but the timing database says 102.18 mph which I find doubtful for a 6.5950 and the acceleration the car was displaying. 4.8651/141.21 to the eighth for Kev and off the gas. Nice 0.9940 to sixty for Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy, 1.1883 for Steve. Andy hit shake passing the Tree, pedalled then back on it. The Camaro was twitching left and right at the eighth 4.3160/174.79 but Andy stayed on the gas. 4.8853/155.75 to the eighth for Steve and looked to shut it off early. 0.9910 to sixty for Rick, Roger's Viper went into a wheelstand and then the left rear tyre shook turning the car towards the guardrail and Roger shut off. Rick got to the eighth in 4.2365/168.44, courtesy of Robin Jackson's PB list we know that is a new PB for both ET and speed, this is also a best for a UK nitrous Pro Mod, well done Rick! Wayne went up on the revs in stage and his driver side door came open, calmly off the revs and shut the door. 1.2630 to sixty, looked like cylinders out. 1.0820 to sixty for Andy, 4.3503/164.26 at the eighth and up the ladder. Superb run for Bruno. 1.0000 to sixty, then driving through about 100 feet of shake like it wasn't happening. 3.9586/185.65 at the eighth and into #2 spot. Hideous shake for Mats at the hit, Crown Victoria turned hard right and off the throttle very quickly. 1.0878 to sixty for Frosty, 4.2354/177.71 to the eighth, a new PB and so a new World best for a street-legal car. Well done Frosty! David left Mattias for dead at the Tree 0.1054 to 0.4991, storming sixty 0.9939 to 1.0055. Mattias then hit shake and the car headed for the centre line, he tried to stay with it but was off the gas before the eighth 4.4506/125.93. 4.0569/179.12 to the eighth for David. 1.0164 to sixty for Marc to Robert's 1.0145, Marc hit shake and the car started to drift left towards the guardrail and he was off it about 400 feet out having a good old skate at that point. 4.0677/178.86 to the eighth for Robert, improvement but stayed in place.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Marc Meihuizen 5.9635/241.15
  2. Bruno Bader 6.0729/231.38
  3. David Vegter 6.1807/231.26

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Johan Lindberg shut off (bye);

Johan Lindberg 5.8334/249.48 bye; Rob Turner 5.8011/241.44, Gareth Ellis 7.5231/153.20; Steph Milam 7.1800/198.12, Danny Bellio 5.7869/247.72; Leif Andréasson 15.7005/52.08, Jonnie Lindberg 5.5772/259.08

Johan shut off on the way back from his burnout for spots of rain. A short delay then Johan was back on, supervised by brother Jonnie. Great run for starters, storming 0.9388 to sixty, shake past the Tree, a relatively lengthy pedal about 150 feet out. 3.8537/192.99 at the eighth and up to #3. Rob away first 0.2860 to 0.3346, 1.0004 to sixty. Gareth's launch looked sedate and looked to have a cylinder briefly out, 1.2712 to sixty. Rob going great guns at the eighth 3.8142/197.90, Gareth to the eighth in 4.7878/167.94 but was off the gas at that point. A call of sprinkles at the top end. Steph's tyres spun in the burnout but didn't really smoke. Steph's car faltered off the line but still a 1.0800 sixty to Danny's 1.0273. Looks from here as if Steph then drove through some shake, 4.7183/149.55 at the eighth to Danny's very stout 3.8301/200.55. Sounded as if Steph was off the gas a touch early. Straight run for Danny with no dramas. Instant shake for Leif and off the throttle. 0.9534 to sixty for Jonnie, a very brief pedal about 200 feet out as the car moved left and right and the motor was really screaming at the eighth.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Jonnie Lindberg 5.5646/256.69
  2. Leif Andréasson 5.6364/251.97
  3. Danny Bellio 5.7869/247.72

Simon has posted a set of pit notes which you can check out via the Event Index page.

Martin Hill followed Super Street Bike with a 5.9833/257.51 in the Fireforce Jet FC. Vicious throttle slams, I am guessing the cooler air has something to do with that.

Super Pro ET qualifying session 5

Pel Norman up from #32 to #1 first pair and a perfect run, 8.320 on an 8.32 dial-in. Subject to a decal check Pel takes the Eurodragster.com / Gold RV Perfect ET Award. Well done Pel! Mike Bruckmüller up from #29 to #14 next pair. Reinier van Schelt next to make a big move, #44 to #14. Not to be outdone fellow countryman Johan Oomen made a move from #38 to #6 next pair. Rene Ehrisman answered for the Swiss moving up from #35 to #26 next pair. Next pairing and Roy Wilding moved up from #23 to #15. At that point the top 37 were separated by 0.0951. Vince Gibbs next up the ladder, #37 to #27 whilst Eurodragster.com sponsor Pete Walters was shut off for a fluid leak in the other lane. Same fate for Martyn Jones next run, clean-up in his lane.

FIM Europe Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Filippos Papafilippou no time, Rene van den Berg 7.1181/203.37; Steve Woollatt 6.6405/214.00, Otto Knebl 6.9988/202.46; Rikard Gustafsson 6.5818/209.12, Ian King 6.0322/222.19

1.1648 to sixty for Rene, 4.6807/154.19 at the eighth going slowly for the centre line, feathered the throttle and pulled it straight. All the action in Fil's lane, a very violent launch, the front end thumped down and the on-board camera came off the bike, then Fil had his hands full with a front wheel failure of some sort, bearing maybe, as the front wheel got a real wobble on. Great match-up between Steve and Otto. Steve away first 0.3125 to 0.4340, the better sixty 1.1075 to 1.1933. Otto's bike started to head for the centre line and he was really leaning to get it back. Steve to the eighth in 4.3501/170.35 to Otto's 4.6148/166.69, Steve getting close to the centre line himself in the second eighth. Excellent run by Ian in front of his sponsors Nexus Underwriting. 1.0258 to sixty, nitro flames clean and clear, 3.9574/196.04 at the eighth, 5.0516/221.19 at 1000 feet and shut off a touch before the stripe judging by the terminal speed. Rikard's run on his Funny Bike was no slouch either. 1.0988 to sixty, 4.2812/173.65 at the eighth.

1.3252 to sixty for Martijn, got off the throttle for a second or so before the eighth 4.8100/156.84. Plenty more left in there. Christian rolled the beams as the lights ran, some way out before he hit the throttle. Roman with problems to sixty feet 2.6464. 5.3526/119.63 at the eighth for Christian feathering the throttle and then off the gas in the second eighth. Vea's bike tried to buck him off at the hit, twisty launch but kept hold of it, 1.1375 to sixty. Meanwhile Samu was going great guns, 1.1375 to sixty and 4.4560/189.64 at the eighth to Vesa's 5.1616/125.92. Samu got very close indeed to the guardrail near the finish line. Last year's rider of the Godfather in the left lane. Ronny away first 0.2707 to Job's 0.5540 and the better sixty 1.1166 to 1.1337. Job's bike was heading left all the while and he was off the gas just after 330 feet 3.2128. Ronny's tyre shook and then smoked before the eighth 4.6697/169.80, he feathered the throttle then got off the gas.

Jerry riding a bike owned by Richard Gipp. 1.2192 to sixty feet but already heading for the centre line and crossed lanes before the 330 foot mark. 1.1183 to sixty for Len, 4.8622/139.421 at the eighth, motor sounded like it didn't want to slow down at the top end. Mark's motor sounded to zing at the hit but a shift sorted that. 1.1334 to sixty for Bish, 1.4039 for Mark, Bish ahead at the eighth 4.7736/147.12 and smoke from Mark's motor before the eighth 5.2457/139.47. Mark's motor sounded to be misfiring in the second half and the smoke continued to the stripe. Fantastic run for ELvira off the trailer! 1.0490 to sixty, 4.4516/156.07 to the eighth, PB I think. 1.1074 to sixty for Gert-Jan and 4.6682/148.52 at the eighth. Baseline passes for Eurodragster.com Blogger Kalle and Karl-Heinz by the look of it. Kalle to sixty in 1.0969 to Karl-Heinz' 1.1122 and the eighth in 4.5577/150.96 to 4.6324/148.47. 1.0874 to sixty for Ulf and then couldn't change gear, shut off. 1.0650 to sixty for Fredrik, 4.5182/151.88 at the eighth.

14:40

European Funny Car Series qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Kevin Kent 8.8282/138.97, Leif Helander 5.6337/205.17 DQ;

Leif's motor was revving like an alcohol motor as he went into stage, tuner John Smith shrugged his shoulders at one of his colleagues. No sixty foot times for either, Kevin's car sounded laboured all the way, shut it off in the second half. Leif's car going great guns to start with but started blackstriping past 330 feet, drifting right at the eighth 3.6622/226.27 and then sideswiped the guardrail at 1000 feet.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Kevin Kent 8.8282/138.97

14:35

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Chris Polidano 4.1910/245.45 bye; Duncan Micallef 4.3926/213.80 bye; Patrik Pers 7.7296/75.91, Chris Andrews 4.2952/279.43; Jari Halinen 7.9657/73.44, Stig Neergaard 4.9942/150.61; Anita Mäkelä 7.0470/94.10, Thomas Nataas 5.2364/133.76

Great pass for Chris P to open the Top Fuel session, wing high header flames clearly visible. 0.8995 to sixty, 3.2932/255.04 at the eighth, shut off a touch before the stripe as the speed shows. Some smoke from the motor as Chris shut it off. From Kalanc to the Maltese Lion. Two cylinders out on the left side at the hit, 0.8899 to sixty driving through shake, smoke from the motor at the eighth 3.3845/239.83 then a flash of flame and off the gas. Very quick reaction from the top end fire crew, gate open the moment Duncan passed and chased the car down. Duncan attended to, track checked and all OK. Chris A away first 0.1021 to 0.1500, Patrik with cylinders out at the hit. Chris with the better sixty foot time 0.9379 to 0.9543, Patrik pedalling for shake at sixty and then off the gas. 3.4312/248.66 to the eighth for Chris, looked like a conservative tune-up from here, not unsurprising given the conditions today, so plenty left in there. Stig on his way back from his burnout before Jari pulled forward but a short burnout and hard on the brakes and ready to stage at the same time as Stig. A couple of storming sixties, 0.8876 for Jari and 0.8674 for Stig. Jari off the throttle past sixty feet but nothing obviously wrong. Slight shake for Stig and then a pedal as his tyres started to smoke about 250 feet out. 3.5625/180.28 to the eighth, off the throttle by then. Tractor swept Jari's lane. Anita's idle very high after the burnout but tweaked by her back-up guy. Thomas away first , Anita to sixty in 0.8783 and I am guessing that good as the Andersens are Thomas' 0.3773 sixty was not correct. Big shake for Anita and off the throttle about 200 feet out. Thomas pedalled about 300 feet out as his tyres shook and then smoked, off the pedal again before the eighth 3.6352/161.66.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Chris Polidano 4.1910/245.45
  2. Chris Andrews 4.2952/279.43
  3. Duncan Micallef 4.3926/213.80
  4. Stig Neergaard 4.9942/150.61
  5. Thomas Nataas 5.2364/133.76
  6. Anita Mäkelä 7.0470/94.10
  7. Patrik Pers 7.7296/75.91
  8. Jari Halinen 7.9657/73.44

FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Magnus Pettersson no time, Michael Malmgren 6.7152/202.41; Thomas Lindström 6.7084/205.34, Jimmy Ålund 6.6093/208.99

Magnus' tyres didn't light on the burnout. Fluid leak check for Michael after he returned from his burnout but all OK. Magnus' tyres spun at the hit, motor zinged and a snapping sound so I guess something broke. Shut off and stopped at the eighth. 0.0566 RT for Michael, 0.9925 to sixty. 4.3071/162.26 at the eighth, very straight and a good baseline pass. Thomas' and Jimmy's runs also clearly baseline. -0.0402 red for Thomas, not that it matters, 0.0431 RT for Jimmy. 0.9888 to sixty for Thomas and 0.9854 for Jimmy - Jimmy had slight shake passing the Tree. Jimmy with the advantage at the eighth 4.2560/166.53 to Thomas' 4.3194/162.43 and Jimmy there first by 0.0158 even though Thomas was ahead at the start courtesy of his red.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Jimmy Ålund 6.6093/208.99
  2. Thomas Lindström 6.7084/205.34
  3. Michael Malmgren 6.7152/202.41

FIA Pro Modified qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Andy Wright 6.7686/208.06 bye; Roger Moore 6.8116/210.01, Rick Garrett 6.9532/204.27; Andy Robinson 6.8456/201.67, Graham Ellis 8.8029/159.66; Kev Slyfield 6.9826/200.76, Steve Hall 7.9463/167.29; Andy Frost 6.5240/223.39 bye; Wayne Nicholson 6.7399/212.07 bye; Bruno Bader 6.3281/221.44, Norbert Kuno 6.7388/161.93; Mats Eriksson 6.2466/230.48, David Vegter 6.1807/231.26; Robert Joosten 6.2240/229.33, Marc Meihuizen 5.9635/241.15; Mattias Wulcan 6.2376/237.78, Micke Gullqvist 9.1853/94.85

Andy's first run of the season if I remember rightly. Lively burnout. 1.0696 to sixty, a very slight pedal between second and third gears, 4.3846/161.25 at the eighth. Good baseline run. Very long-duration nitrous purges by Rick before pulling forward. Big wheelie and a pedal for Roger at the hit, no sixty registered. 0.9851 to sixty for Rick driving through shake. 4.4794/167.91 to the eighth for Roger, one pedal for Rick a few hundred feet out, 4.5296/157.39 at the eighth. 0.9788 to sixty for Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy, 1.0799 for Graham with tyres shaking. Long pedal for Graham and then back on it. Andy pedalled for shake about 300 feet out, a long pedal it was too. 4.3409/146.07 to the eighth for Andy. Kev away first 0.3092 to Steve's 1.2595, 1.0713 to sixty for Kev to Steve's shaking 1.1718. Steve off the throttle for a long while to get it straight, meanwhile Kev had to pedal for shake as the Willys got close to the guardrail, 4.4981/155.18 at the eighth to Steve's 5.2587/145.31, Steve back on the throttle but Kev long gone although very wayward in the second eighth. Great run for Eurodragster.com Blogger Frosty to open his account, into #1 spot at that point. 1.1101 to sixty, drove through visible shake, straight as you like, 4.3336/175.67 at the eighth. Wayne due to run alongside Frosty but shut off, restarted then shut off again - told to wait whilst Frosty ran I think. Good baseline for Wayne. 1.0783 to sixty, car looked to squat down about 100 feet out and a slight hesitation from the motor. 4.3928/164.84 at the eighth, very straight pass. bruno left Norbert for dead at the tree 0.2475 to 0.5435. 1.0005 to sixty for Bruno to Norbert's 1.0111 with a cylinder briefly out at launch. Brino's car was skating about its lane even before the eighth 4.1243/173.60 to Norbert's 4.1437/172.80, Norbert off the gas past the eighth as the Avenger made a right turn and Bruno looked to shut it off a touch early, the car was really moving around. Great runs for Mats and David, David to sixty in 0.9981 with what I guess was an acceptable level of shake. 1.0255 to Mats looked to lose a little time to shake. David to the eighth in 4.0442/179.65 to Mats' 4.1094/181.27, numbers one and two. 0.9969 to sixty for Robert to Marc's 1.0204, Robert's car had a small drift about 300 feet out whilst Marc's car had hooked up and gone. Storming 3.9213/190.94 at the eighth for Marc, Robert heading right at the eighth 4.0689/177.70. 1.0205 to sixty for Mattias, 1.0261 for Micke, Micke hit hake about 100 feet out and he tried to stay with it as the Camaro made violent moves left and right, shut off about 400 feet out. Mattias drove through shake, some time lost to the eighth 4.1593/184.23. Making a qualifying pass provisionally makes Micke the 2013 FIA European Pro Modified Champion, well done Micke!

Jonnie Lindberg 5.5646/256.69, Leif Andréasson 5.6364/251.97;

0.9873 to sixty for Steph, I think her quickest ever sixty, then a pedal past the Tree, a pedal about 250 feet out then the car made a move to the right and one chute deployed. 4.2533/157.41 at the eighth, Steph was on and off the gas in the second half then shut it off before the stripe. Gareth shut off after returning from his burnout. Rob took the bye, 1.0050 to sixty, car made a move to the right at 330 feet - pretty much the same place as Steph's FC went right, and Rob was off the gas at the eighth 4.0282/155.67. One of Johan's crew held her hands out as he went to stage, suspecting rain in the air. Danny away first 0.0270 to 0.1073, Instant shake and smoke and a pedal for Johan. 1.0252 to sixty for Danny to Johan's pedalled 1.1660, Danny's FC was moving left and right but he stayed on it 3.8410/197.88 to the eighth, Johan pedalled again for shake a couple of hundred feet out, to the eighth in 4.5533/174.17 and had shut it off by then. As the cars stopped at the top end word came from the top end that we had rain.

Great job by the track crew then Jonnie and Leif closed the session. The UK's very own Jayne Kay crewing with Leif, there's one for the armchair speculators. Looks like Jonnie and Leif have warned one another then, superb pair of runs. Jonnie away first 0.1800 to 0.4424, Leif had a storming sixty 0.9386 to 0.9612. No sign of shake for either, Jonnie with the better eighth 3.6801/208.89 to Leif's 3.7052/203.05, looked from here as if Jonnie shut it off and had the chute out just a touch early.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Jonnie Lindberg 5.5646/256.69
  2. Leif Andréasson 5.6364/251.97
  3. Danny Bellio 5.8778/225.87
  4. Steph Milam 7.0463/161.92
  5. Rob Turner 7.2163/131.82
  6. Johan Lindberg 7.4274/137.40

08:30

Good morning and welcome to our coverage of the FIA European Finals brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car.

A change to the webcast arrangements this weekend; the webcast is still free but this weekend will be available on Santa Pod Raceway's site at www.santapod.co.uk/webcam.php. If you don't, can't or won't read the preceding sentence and you go to our own webcam then you will be presented with a blank screen or test footage showing the Eurodragster.com office and you really don't want to be sitting looking at us.

Not such a good day here so far. I know, because I was awake, that it started to rain at 04:08 this morning. The radar shows that we have had the worst of what we're getting and the tractor is our sweeping the track. Stay tuned and we will keep you up to date with developments. In the meantime if you check out the webcam on Santa Pod's site you can enjoy a replay of yesterday's qualifying.
