Burnout so straight that you could use the tracks as a ruler and, of course, functioning brake lights. 1.5350 to sixty double-stepping it off the line, feathering the throttle all the way. 4.9563/168.54 at the eighth, 6.3101/165.45 at 1000 feet just off the throttle at that point. Excellent pass and into #1 spot. Two goes at the burnout for Graham, the motor not sounding at all happy at the first attempt but the second go was textbook. Rolled through stage going up on the revs and drove down the track. Wayne back into #1 with his pass. 1.3841 to sixty with a brief hesitation off the line, back hard on the gas. 5.2237/154.73 at the eighth. Qualifying after this session:

17:50 Super Pro ET qualifying after session 2 Side-by-side Funny Car pairing for Jayne Kay and Karl Harrison, 7.1194/201.63 for Rod but hit the top end reflectors DQing the run. In the other lane Jayne's tyres went up in smoke at the hit but she pulled a 0.0007 RT winning her the first Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award, well done Jayne! Big improvement for Wouter van Leersum but only good for a couple of places. Next pair and Simon Gough moved up from #13 to #7. Fantastic run for Vince Gibbs, into #2 off the trailer. Next pair and an excellent 0.0013 RT for Scott Hauser followed by a 7.6193 breakout on a 7.75 - maybe a PB, if so then well done Scott! Paul Marston up from #19 to #6 in the last run of the session.

On and off the throttle and vapour from the motor, 5.5781/136.50 at the eighth, shut it off about 1000 feet out. Joe Bond was in the collection area but David Pertué's Jet Dragster was pushed round next so we assumed that Joe was not going to run. David was then pushed back and Joe came around the corner. 1.1901 to sixty for Joe, heading for the centre line, a pedal and pulled it away, 4.7231/141.27 at the eighth and off the gas as the altered moved around the lane. Facebookers and others please note that screen dumps of the webcam constitute a breach of our copyright. 15:40 MSA Pro Modified qualifying session 2 (left lane first) Wayne Nicholson 7.9529/207.23 bye, Jean Dulamon broke; Graham Ellis 7.9638/185.80, Kev Slyfield no time; Big nitrous burp for Jean just before he pulled forward to stage. Quite some altitude for his already-tortured scoop. Wayne took the bye. 1.4660 to sixty with some hesitation off the line, feathering the throttle in the first half. 5.4951/150.07 at the eighth and was really picking up speed in the second half. Very brief burnout for Graham, staged OK this time. 1,3588 to sixty for Graham, 5.3058/146.16 at the eighth. Meanwhile Kev's Coupe got to sixty in 1.2477 but was fishtailing left and right even then. 5.2256/148.13 at the eighth and a pendulum effect was setting in, the car got close to the right guardrail and suddenly pitched hard left just past 1000 feet crossing lanes and hitting the left guardrail just behind Graham. A grunt from the motor and the Coupe bounced across and hit the right guardrail. Very rapid reaction from the safety crews - the finish line crew were moving before Kev stopped and the far end crew were moving as soon as Graham was out of the way. Word from race officials is that Kev is A-OK, got himself out of the car but has been taken to the Medical Centre for a precautionary check. Qualifying after this session:

08:25 Good morning and welcome to our coverage of the Festival of Power brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car. The Webster Race Engineering / Nimbus Motorsport webcam is on-line and broadcasting live video and commentary / Nitro FM audio as long as the track is open; thanks to M@ikel and the guys at Doyousee.me for streaming services and to Julian of Nitro FM for offering the use of the satellite uplink. Courtesy of the webcam's high def picture you may be able to see that there is light snow in the air. The radar shows that stopping very shortly and there is clear sky over my left shoulder. As you can imagine it is quite chilly again today although yesterday's cold temperatures certainly didn't do much, if anything, to affect the traction offered by the new track surface. Right now Super Street Bike racer Steve Venables is the new surface record holder at 7.750/184.35. There you go, in the time it took me to type up the above and do a quick stint on Nitro FM the snow has stopped, the sun is out, and Pro ET have been called to the lanes.
