Slightly long way round for Roger. Great match between Andy and Jean. Long staging duel and Andy went in first, Jean whacked him on the Tree 0.3370 to 0.8250. Much better sixty for Andy 1.0680 to 1.2632, some vapour from Andy's motor but he stayed on it. 4.4637/163.06 to sixty for Andy to Jean's 4.6772/161.33, Jean's Camaro moving around its lane some and Jean off the throttle a touch early. Great run for Rick, 1.0338 to sixty, 4.5041/155.25 to the eighth, engine note flattened out some in the second eighth but the run good for his licence. Qualifying after this session:

Thomas Granica in at #7 with a new PB or near to it after problems in the first two sessions, well done Thomas and Peter! Next pair and an absolutely fantastic pass for Steve Venables, the first 7.1 and quickest ever SSB run in Europe and #1 spot back, well done Ven! Another PB for Pete Field and we believe for Woody in the other lane also, well done both! Pete Bellenie into the sevens within a few runs of his return next pair. Two pairs later Steve Mead moved up from #10 to #6. Dave Holland more than backed up his earlier 202 pass with a 204.25 backed up by the 202, into the 7.2s or a new PB, well done Dutch! Jean drove through shake and got close to the guardrail but stayed with it, 4.6414/154.15 at the eighth. Lots of approving nods amongst race officials and that certainly was better than the commensurate ET in the rules. Nitrous burp for Jan as he revved the motor before staging. Start line safey crew rushed to put out the carb fire. Wayne's drive shaft broke in the burnout, two large pieces on the track and part of the shaft would you believe went through one of the front windows of the Nitro FM studio and hit the back door. Wayne off the throttle as soon as the motor zinged, I would say he saved his motor with that reaction. Nice run to start with for Kev, 1.0907 to sixty feet, a very straight run but one of his chutes deployed at half track 4.2971/162.43. You could hear the chute drag the motor down and Kev pedalled once, got back on the throttle for second or so and then shut it off. Congratulations to Roger, Dave and the Shakespeare Engineering team on securing the 2012 MSA British Pro Modified Championship by dint of making this qualifying pass. Andy's tyres chattered at the hit and the motor started to zing, a couple of pedals and then the tyres hooked up. Roger long gone having driven through high-frequency shake. 1.1474 to sixty, 4.4390/164.53 at the eighth and into #1 spot as Champion. Qualifying after this session:

Similar story for Ian, rear tyre shook and then the tyre unloaded as the front end came down and went up in smoke. Ian got off the throttle as the motor started to zing. 10:00 Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the VP Racing Fuels National Finals brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car. The Webster Race Engineering/Nimbus Motorsport webcam will be broadcasting video and audio as long as the track is open. Thanks to our good buddies from Doyousee.me for streaming facilities and to Julian of Nitro FM for allowing us access to the radio station's satellite link which means that we can broadcast in higher definition than usual. If you are a longtime reader of our coverage then you will know the pit note plan for National Finals weekend, namely that Simon will be doing pit notes today and then will be giving us real-time Championship updates tomorrow. A big Good Morning and hugs to Paula Marshall who is tuned in, we're missing you Paula and wish you were here. Would you believe we have three birthdays here at Santa Pod today. Happy Birthday to Sharon Norris of SPRC's timing crew, to SPRC race official and Princess of Race Control Emma Humphreys, and to Junior Dragster racer Belle Wheeler who is nine today. We had some rain overnight and given the time of year the damp has taken a little work to get out of the track but the track crew are hard at it and I would say that we are almost there.
