FIA Top Methanol Dragster final

Dave Wilson 5.3398/262.67 bye, Manty Bugeja no show

I am guessing too much for the Mr Whippy team to fix in time after the bang and flash of flame in the semi-final. Bye for Grumpy. Great pass! 0.9318 to sixty, 3.5482/220.24 at the eighth, clean run and on it all the way to the finish line.

We've hit curfew so that's the end of the event. We will post today's pictures in a few hours.

UEM Top Fuel Bike final

Ian King 6.9484/188.20 def. Rikard Gustafsson 7.1419/173.05

Ian away first 0.1454 to 0.3592, Rikard's bike dropped a pipe on the start line as it left. 1.0554 to sixty for Ian, 1.1302 for Rikard. 4.5923/172.33 at the eighth for Ian and 4.4988/164.23 for Rikard, Ian getting close to the centre line in the second half and feathering the throttle a little as Rikard also got close to the centre line and shut off.

FIA Pro Modified final

Bruno Bader 12.1811/108.72 bye

No burnout. A blip of the throttle off the line and then drove relatively slowly up the track.

20:50

UEM Supertwin final

Nate Gagnon 6.6852/215.12 bye, Job Heezen no show

No sign of the Zodiac team so Nate Gagnon takes it for Canada, well done Nate! 1.1545 to sixty feet, straight down the lane, 4.4218/173.01 at the eighth, on the gas all the way.

UEM Pro Stock Bike final

Kalle Lyrén 7.1634/183.63 bye, Ulf Ögge no show

No sign of Ulf and no word on why, bye for Eurodragster.com Blogger Kalle. 1.1045 to sixty and that was with shake we could feel up here in Race Control. 4.5413/153.51 to the eighth and the event win. Well done Kalle!

UEM Super Street Bike Cup final

Graham Balchin 7.3436/198.88 def. Chris Reed 7.8165/198.88

20:45

FIA Top Fuel Dragster final

Risto Poutiainen 4.2151/277.10 bye, Stig Neergaard no show

Stig pretty obviously with problems after his semi-final, didn't make it for the final so Risto took the bye. 0.9618 to sixty, 3.3689/248.09 at the eighth, straight down the middle of the lane, looked to shut off just a touch before 1000 feet.

FIA Pro Stock final

Thomas Lindström 6.7169/206.01 def. Micke Callin 15.0461/56.39

Visible holeshot for Micke 0.0551 to 0.1273. 0.9823 to sixty for Thomas, Micke already shaking by sixty 1.1532 and shut it off after about eighty feet. Then all eyes on Thomas to back up his earlier speed record. 4.3147/206.01 to the eighth and his earlier 207.95 backed up, well done Thomas!

20:15

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car final

Danny Bellio 5.9120/234.98 def. Rob Turner no time DQ

Danny away first 0.0598 to 0.1033, Rob has the better sixty 0.9892 to 1.0292. Danny hit shake and the FC started to move to the right but Danny stayed on the gas. 3.8233/197.08 to the eighth for Rob to Danny's 3.9001/193.43 then Rob's FC suddenly crossed lanes and punted the finish line reflectors; from here it looked as if he was right alongside Danny and Danny must have seen him as he steered to the right, but with great presence of mind Rob pulled the chutes which instantly put distance between himself and Danny.

20:10

FIA Pro Modified eliminations Round 3

Bruno Bader 6.1755/227.88 def. Graham Ellis 7.6411/131.33

Eurodragster.com sponsor Graham had to take two goes at the burnout, the motor popped and stopped at the first attempt. Restart, reverse and a quick burnout and back with no delay to Bruno. 1.0927 to sixty for Graham to Bruno's 1.0130. Bruno drove through about 100 feet of shake and the 'Vette made a move to the left. Meanwhile Graham's 'Bird made a hard move to the right just before the eighth and he shut it off, 4.4531/149.93 to half track to Bruno's 4.0257/181.81.

Bert-Ove Olofsson did not appear for his semi-final; MSA Pro Mod PR Robin Jackson tells us this was due to a broken lifter. Bruno has a bye in the money round.

20:05

UEM Pro Stock Bike eliminations Round 2

Kalle Lyrén 7.1758/182.10 def. Fredrik Fredlund 7.2004/184.38

UEM Super Street Bike eliminations Round 2

Graham Balchin now the UEM SSB Cup ET record holder with this round's 7.2619, well done Graham! Dave Holland still holds the speed record.

Ian King 6.2788/196.40 bye

Odd-number bye for Ian. Great pass! 1.0718 to sixty feet, 4.0959/191.33 to the eighth heading for the centre line. Closer and closer to the line and then shut off just before the traps and hit the quarter mile reflector. No DQ as Ian was on a bye and won by taking the green.

Rikard Gustafsson 6.4938/209.90 def. Nils Lagerlof 7.2514/167.29

1.0700 to 1.0893 sixty foot in Rikard's favour, 4.2293/177.43 at the eighth to Nils' 4.3243. Smoke from Nils motor and he shut it off in the second half.

19:50

UEM Supertwin eliminations Round 2

Great odd-number bye for Nate. 1.1512 to sixty, feet, front wheel high in the air to nearly half track 4.3788/174.29. That's going to be hard to beat for lane choice.

Job Heezen 6.6377/212.88 def. Samu Kemppainen 6.7738/198.12

One of the best Supertwin races I have ever seen. 0.2377 to 0.267 reaction advantage for Job, front wheel up, three sets of nitro flames. 1.1729 to sixty for Samu, 1.1241 fot Job. Job got very close to the centre line just before the eighth 4,3827/167.63 to Samu's 4,4267/169.70, Job off and on the throttle a couple of times and took it by 0.1663.

19:45

FIA Top Methanol Dragster eliminations Round 2

Manty Bugeja 5.2920/259.62 def. Timo Habermann 5.4728/257.86

Storming race this one! Visible holeshot for Timo 0.0315 to 0.1754, Manty had the better sixty foot 0.9031 to 0.9220. Timo drove through shake and got close to the centre line, stayed with it though. 3.4660/218.05 to the eighth for Manty and 3.5831/209.49 for Timo. Smoke then a bang and flash of flame from Manty's motor at about 1200 feet. 0.0369 in it at the stripe. Manty on a European ET record if he can back it up. Well done Manty, Joe, Norm and the Mr Whippy team!

Dave Wilson 5.3233/268.93 def. Dennis Habermann 5.4442/260.49

Another fantastic race! 0.0821 to 0.1043 holeshot for Dennis and the quicker sixty 0.9023 to 0.9434. Dennis drove through plainly visible shake but the car went in a straight line. Grumpy was visibly catching Dennis by half track 3.5441/221.24 to 3.5684/210.45 and took the stripe by 0.0987/

19:00

FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations Round 2

Risto Poutiainen 5.9974/153.68 def. Jari Halinen 6.5247/139.41

0.0337 to 0.1080 holeshot for Jari. 0.9018 to sixty for Risto and 0.9364 for Jari then his tyres started to go up in smoke. A pedal for Jari as and Risto's tyres started to go up in smok eand the Multilotto.com dragster started to move around its lane. 4.7515/100.31 at the eighth for Jari who had shut off by then, 4.4750/144.54 at the eighth for Risto who had also backed off as we saw the right side of his car from here in Race Control. Then Risto realised that Jari was nowhere to be seen and got back on the throttle, Jari reaching the same realisation gave it a squirt but Risto was there first by 0.4530.

Stig Neergaard 4.2670/276.26 def. Duncan Micallef 4.2572/248.17 DQ

-0.0045 red for Duncan gave it to Stig. 0.9083 to sixty for Stig, 3.3940/242.29 to the eighth with some smoke from the motor but Stig stayed with it. 0.9677 to sixty for Duncan, 3.3693/248.15 at the eighth and shut off just after 660 feet. Clean-up in Stig's lane.

Paul Ingar Udtian followed the clean-up with a licencing pass, this one scheduled to be the representative pass after just missing out on Saturday. 0.9641 to sixty, 3.5094/237.21 at the eighth, 4.4034/268.15 at 1000 feet. That was with one or two cylinders out on the right bank. Nice run! Clean-up in Paul's lane.

18:25

FIA Pro Modified eliminations Round 2

Graham Ellis 7.0498/223.54 def. David Vegter 7.6727/129.18 DQ

Eurodragster.com sponsor Graham wins this one on First or Worst. -0.3657 red light in Graham's lane, 1.6133 to sixty feet, looked from here like a guard beam violation. 0.9739 to sixty for David then had to drive through shake and the car made a big move to the left. 4.3448/140.67 to the eighth for Graham and David crossed the centreline and whacked the reflectors 4.3186/140.31. Going out of the boundaries of your lane is a worse infraction than redlighting so David DQ'd and Graham goes through.

Marcus Hilt shut off (bye)

Second round off-number bye for Marcus whose car sprayed fuel during the burnout. Track spotter Bob vaulted the guardrail and sprinted to tell Marcus to shut off.

Bert-Ove Olofsson 6.6189/201.47 def. Roger Moore 7.3284/197.26

Roger got a visible holeshot on Bert-Ove 0.1340 to 0.3063 but Bert-Ove got the better sixty foot 1.0010 to 1.1845. Both then drove through shake, Bert-Ove pedalling a couple of times as the Impala moved left and right. 4.7641/149.56 to the eighth for Roger, 4.3222/167.66 for Bert-Ove who shut off and had the chutes out at about 1100 feet,

Bruno Bader 6.5971/215.85 def. Robert Joosten 7.3484/118.57 DQ

-0.0049 red for Robert handed it to Bruno. 1.0586 to sixty for Bruno, driving through shake and then pedalling a couple of times, 4.3111/172.95 at the eighth. 1.0242 to sixty for Robert, 4.1633/168.49 at the eighth, the Camaro moving left and right and then making a hard right turn. Exactly the correct reaction from Robert, off the gas and 'chutes out which instantly settled the car.

17:55

Martin Hill followed Fuel FC with a 6.0301 at a big 276.32 in the Fireforce 3 Jet FC.

Super Pro ET eliminations Round 1

Bad top end crash for Henning Blume in his Belvedere. Smoke from the motor and looked like fluid then the car started to swerve left and right, for a moment it looked as if Henning had a hold of it but the car turned hard left just past the finish line and impacted the guardrail head-on. It looked quite close from here with Vince Gibbs in the other lane but there was a fifty-foot gap at the stripe so probably not as proximate as it seemed. Henning got himself out of the car and is quite OK; I would imagine that the same can't be said for the car.

A round win in his first competitive outing for Eurodragster.com brother-in-law Tom Atkinson. Next race and Andy Raw and Thomas Stiefel broke out big time but both set PBs, well done guys! 7.0 for Rod Harrison, six not far away but it'll have to wait for the Summernationals.

Fuel Funny Car eliminations Round 1

Jason Phelps 6.2504/204.25 def. John Spuffard 17.4237/69.80

Spuff away first 0.0135 to 0.1631. Spuff's tyres up in smoke at the hit and the Showtime FC turned hard right so he shut it off. 1.0849 to sixty for Jason, 4.1636/198.52 at the eighth, groaning noise from the motor and the car looked to jump just past the eighth, Jason shut it off well before the stripe.

Leif Helander 5.9127/209.93 bye

#1 qualifier bye for Leif. 1.0413 to sixty, fair bit of clutch dust, the car looked to bve accelerating hard at the eighth 3.9024/209.93. Hesitation from the motor about 1000 feet out then smoke and Leif shut it off.

UEM Super Street Bike eliminations Round 2

How about that, side-by-side 201 mph runs by Graham Balchin and Dave Holland. Well done guys! Dave's 201.50 is currently a backed-up UEM SSB Cup speed record so congratulations to Dave, but Graham Balchin is still in competition so the record could yet change hands to Graham's slightly higher speed.

Dave Holland asked us to say a big Thank You to the shutdown area crew for alerting him to Richard Hann's bike which was flipping down the track alongside him.

UEM Pro Stock Bike eliminations Round 1

Fredrik Fredlund 21.9959/24.02 def. Len Paget 8.9431/110.18 DQ

Fredrik dodged a bullet here. -0.0113 red light for Len handed it to Fredrik. 1.0652 to sixty then the motor up on the limiter and no gear shift so Fredrik shut off and rolled to a halt just past the finish line.

Ulf Ögge 7.2028/185.80 def. Kev Charman 7.7785/171.10

Ulf staged a long way to the left of the lane. Kev visibly moved first 0.1002 to 0.2242. 1.1235 to sixty for Ulf to Kev's 1.2462 and a big advantage for Ulf by the eighth 4.5886 to 4.9713.

Elvira Karlsson 7.4688/174.40 def. Martin Bishop 8.1954/146.24

Elvira away first 0.0614 to 0.1117 and the better sixty foot 1.1084 to 1.2455. Martin's motor sounded to be misfiring and he got close to the centre line. 4.7351 half track for Elvira to Martin's 5.0194.

Kalle Lyrén 7.2023/170.46 def. Martin Newbury 7.7931/164.26

Eurodragster.com Blogger Kalle away first 0.0668 to 0.0985 and the better sixty foot time 1.0948 to 1.1460. Big advantage for Kalle by half track 4.5425 to 4.9081. Sounded like the motor was on the limiter towards the finish line. Martin plain outrun but with lots of new stuff on the bike I am sure he won't be too disappointed with what was a decent run. Low ET for Kalle.

15:30

The rain was quite heavy although only briefly and the track crew reported on the radio that the track is steaming so it shouldn't take too long to dry. Blue skies behind us headed this way which will help.

This is the last time we're going to be polite about this, even though we have already said it several times in the last few days. UEM Top Fuel Bike eliminations Round 1

Nils Lagerlof 8.2576/126.89 def. Steve Woollatt 14.7746/53.97

0.1231 to 0.1895 holeshot for Nils. 1.0923 to sixty feet whilst Steve's rear tyre went up in smoke, 1.4631 to sixty and off the throttle. Nils' bike went close to the left guardrail and he was feathering the throttle then shut it off by the eighth 4.6024/126.79.

Rikard Gustafsson 6.5684/209.97 def. Rene van den Berg 7.5868/174.40

No burnout to speak of for Rene. Long burndown and then Rikard went in to stage. Rene whacked Rikard off the line 0.2813 to 0.4312 but his motor hesitated audibly. 1.1713 to sixty for Rikard and 1.2059 for Rene. Rene's bike got close to the centre line and he had to feather the throttle at the eighth. 4.3045/177.63 at the eighth for Rikard to Rene's 4.8741/156.83. Rene shut it off a touch early.

Ian King staged (bye), Otto Knebl no show

Big burnout for Ian but then staged and took the green, I suspect a last-moment change of plan because there were spots in the air.

15:15

UEM Supertwin eliminations Round 1

Nate Gagnon 6.5610/219.30 def. Jan Sturla Hegre 7.5417/167.29

Nate was out first 0.1852 to 0.2135, Jan Sturla had the better sixty 1.0930 to 1.1304 but then his rear tyre started to shake and the bike was moving towards the centre line necessitating a feather of the throttle. 4,3444/176.29 at the eighth for Nate, 4.8183/134.14 for Jan Sturla, Jan Sturla off the throttle before the stripe. Smoke and looked like flame from Nate's motor in the shutdown area but no consternation from the safety crews so maybe it was just the sun glinting off the exhausts or wheelie bars.

Samu Kemppainen 10.2436/83.80 def. Chris Hannam 14.1660/53.33

Samu got the jump 0.2594 to 0.3851, 1.1654 to sixty for Cannon to Samu's 1.2108, Cannon's bike lost drive and there was vapour from the headers, Cannon shut it off at that point. Just at that moment there was a bang from Samu's motor and a lot of pieces from the bike. From here difficult to tell whether it was a shredded belt or bodywork. From then it was a momentum race to the stripe and Samu had more momentum.

Job Heezen 7.7572/116.25 def. Christian Jäger 18.8292/36.66

Job away first 0.1650 to 0.1772, 1.1536 to sixty for Job riding through shake to Christian's 1.1925. Christian's rear tyre then blazed and he shut it off. Job pulled away, 4.3954/159.93 at the eighth but a huge could of smoke from his motor and he was off the throttle just past 660 feet.

15:05

FIA Top Methanol Dragster eliminations Round 1

Timo Habermann 5.4574/259.07 def. Chris Polidano 5.3913/264.21

If anyone ever asks you how you can win a race with a slower ET then this is the race whose stats you show them. Tim strapped a humungous 0.0508 to 0.1201 holeshot on Chris and had the quicker sixty-foot time 0.9186 to 0.9526 driving through shake which from here made Timo's tyres look blurry. Chris was coming back at Timo big time at the eighth with a much higher speed 3.5922/222.24 to Timo's 3.5747/209.49, smoke from Chris' motor from about 1000 feet onwards. Timo squeaked it, 0.0032 seconds or 14.88 inches in it at the stripe. PB for Chris, well done Chris and the Kalanc/Gold RV team! The smoke was from Chris' motor but it's Timo's lane which had oil clean-up after the race.

Dave Wilson 5.4350/263.54 def. Esko Raisvuo 6.8574/225.87

This race was pretty much done pretty quickly. Esko had the better RT 0.1211 to 0.1480 but it was all Grumpy after that. 1.0007 to sixty to Esko's 1,2973, Esko's car sounded to be labouring. 3.6518 at a huge 221.90 at the eighth for Grumpy after driving through shake from 200 feet to about 400 feet. 4.6457/173.0 at the eighth for Esko by which time Grumpy was at about 1000 feet. Smoke from Grumpy's motor at about 1200 feet and chutes were on their way out in the traps. Sounded from here like Esko drove it out the back door.

Dennis Habermann 5.3526/263.68 def. Krister Johansson 5.4405/264.21

Huge holeshot for Dennis 0.0391 to 0.1270 and a stout sixty foot 0.9310 to Krister's 0.9850 and that wasn't exactly hanging around. 3,5135/214.44 at the eighth for Dennis to Krister's 3.6245 at a huge 221.26 having taken a long way round in the first eighth. Some smoke from Krister's motor but he stayed on it all the way. Dennis thre first by 0.1758.

Manty Bugeja 5.3896/266.66 bye

#1 qualifier bye for Manty. Big burnout so a full pass in prospect and with Norm Grimes having come all the way from the USA we weren't going to be seeing any short passes I think. Fantastic pass it was too! 0.9817 to sixty, 2.4261 at 330 feet. Straight as you like, the car barely dviating. 3.5677/216.57 at the eighth and on the gas all the way. I think a PB speed I think, well done Manty, Joe and the Mr Whippy team!

14:25

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car eliminations Round 1

Rob Turner 5.8821/236.08 bye, Steph Milam no show

Steph Milam out, we understand after suffering an injury in qualifying. Our best wishes to you Steph. Rob took the bye, the full-on burnout tended to indicate the intention to put in a full pass. And a full pass it was! 1.0367 to sixty, 3.8795/195.16 at the eighth, the car started to move around in the second eighth and got close to the centre line but Rob stayed with it. A good shot at lane choice.

Danny Bellio 5.7679/239.84 bye

#1 qualifier bye for Danny, would he try to take lane choice from Rob? Yes he would! 1.0055 to sixty feet, 2.5712 to 330 feet. Straight as you like to the eighth 3.8003/202.27, moving around a little in the second eighth. The drama came after the run though as he had no chutes and then the car got a bounce on, a puff of smoke as Danny stood on the brakes and from here it looked as if he was going to try to steer it round the corner but then thought better of it. The car went a little way into the field but the word is that Danny and the car are OK.

14:15

FIA Pro Stock eliminations Round 1

Thomas Lindström 6.6596/207.96 def. Conrad Stanley 7.0561/182.87

Great pair of burnouts. Conrad in pre-stage for a fair amount of time before Thomas moved in. Conrad away first by a fair bit 0.0495 to 0.1275, storming 0.9807 sixty foot for Thomas to Conrad's 1.0425. 4.2881/164.57 to the eighth for Thomas, 4.4947/156.69 at the eighth for Conrad the smoke from his motor and he shut it off and put the chutes out. 0.3185 in it at the stripe. Thomas does the first hals of a European speed record and close to the European ET record, well done Thomas!

Micke Callin no time bye, Jimmy Ålund no show

Jimmy Ålund returned home after damaging two motors in testing and qualifying so Micke got a bye. 300-foot burnout to the cheers of the crowd. Fearsome shake at the hit which we felt up here in Race Control, and off the throttle before sixty feet.

14:10

FIA Pro Modified eliminations Round 1 re-runs

Robert Joosten 13.5876/74.81 def. Steve Hall no time

Lanes reversed for Robert and Steve; to be honest I thought re-runs had to be in the same lanes as the original pair but I have been wrong before. Steve rolled through stage, Chief Starter Ian Marshall gestured to him to come back but the car didn't move. Steve bulbed, then. Tyre spin at the hit for Robert, a pedal, 1.4092 to sixty feet, on and off the throttle along the track. 7.9192/79.12 at the eighth.

Graham Ellis 6.262/242.78 def. Andy Frost 6.5928/220.09

Same lanes as previously for Eurodragster.com sponsor Graham and Eurodragster.com Blogger Andy. What a fantastic race! Graham away first 0.1282 to 0.1428, slightly increased advantage by sixty feet 1.1152 to 1.1568. Both going straight down the middle of their lanes, no sign of shake. 4.2134/187.27 for Graham at the eighth, 4.3993/176.07 for Andy. Graham took the stripe and Andy reset his own record for the world's quickest street-legal car. Well done both!

13:35

Simon has posted today's first set of pit notes, which you can check out via the Event Index page.

FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations Round 1

Top Fuel is running over 1000 feet this weekend and indeed all season.

Risto Poutiainen 4.4429/186.52 bye

#1 qualifier bye for Risto who said beforehand that he would be going for lane choice. Storming 0.8774 sixty foot, 2.2335 to 330 feet, tyres hazed then threw the blower belt before halt track 3.2697/215.78.

Jari Halinen 6.7170/99.69 def. Anita Mäkelä 10.9393/45.33

Jari away first 0.0770 to 0.1825, Anita had the better sixty foot time 0.9250 to 0.9762, judging by the car's body language Anita's motor threw its belt before 300 feet and that was her race done. 2.5966 to 330 feet for Jari then his tyres went up in smoke, he pedalled and there was a flash of flame from the motor and he got off the throttle.

Stig Neergaard 4.1565/291.97 def. Chris Andrews 5.2587/138.12

0.0265 to 0.1458 RT advantage for Chris, Stig had the better sixty foot time 0.8988 to 0.9673. Both going great guns at 330 feet 2.3188 for Stig to Chris' 2.3843. Chris off the throttle before half track 3.6857/161.74 whilst Stig was full on it at half track 3.3252/252.80 and stayed on it to the stripe.

Duncan Micallef 4.3089/232.06 def. Micke Kågered 6.6005/106.77

Very low revs for Duncan in the burnout, tyres didn't light. Sometimes that is not a problem but it's not the warmest day out there... but no, not a problem. 0.0486 RT for Micke to Duncan's 0.0995, both very solid. 0.8741 to sixty for Duncan and he was off and running. Shake and smoke for Micke, 1.0520 to sixty, cylinders mixing up and off the throttle before 330 feet. 2,28921 to sixty for Duncan, 3.3552/235.68 at the eighth, smoke from the motor and off the throttle just on the eighth.

Paul Ingar Udtian was scheduled to make a licencing pass at the end of this session but shut off as the headers were throwing out a lot of smoke.

Congratulations to Dave Holland on breaking 200 mph. In the other lane Richard Hann parted company with his bike in the shutdown area, word quickly came back that Boss is quite OK.

FIA Pro Modified eliminations Round 1

Pro Modified again a good time to say a big Good Morning and hugs to Paula Marshall whom we know is tuned in. Hope you are doing OK Paula and we'll do our best to get those results to you as quickly as we can.

Thirteen cars qualified in Pro Modified but a sixteen-car field despite machinations to make it otherwise. FIA rules state that nineteen cars must qualify for a sixteen-car field, however the powers-that-be obtained a waiver from the FIA.

Andy Frost 7.3020/216.96 def. Graham Ellis 7.2520/196.40 DQ

This should be a good first pair: Eurodragster.com sponsor Graham v Eurodragster.com Blogger Andy and not necessarily exchanging Christmas cards. World record-holding street-legal car in the right lane. Graham a long time in pre-stage before Andy came in but then Andy courteously staged first. -0.1548 red light for Graham handing it to Andy. 1.3074 to sixty for Andy, 5.0042/163.65 at the eighth. Graham's tyres blackstriping for the first 100 feet or so, the 'Bird making violent moves left and right but Graham wasn't getting off it for anything, he won't have seen the red I guess.

Roger Moore no time def. Andy Wright no time DQ

Sun came out as the cars pulled into stage. Andy, coming in to eliminations on the crest of a PB in qualifying, left before the lights ran. Nitrous burp from Roger's car as he launched, car stopped maybe five feet out if that, but he took the green and took the win. Andy had his hands full controlling the Coupe as it was making big moves left and right in the middle third.

Steve Hall 7.8612/173.04 def. Robert Joosten 11.7052/173.04 DQ

Robert's tyres didn't light on the burnout. Chief Starter Ian Marshall had his hand held out for rain as the cars pulled forward. -0.3544 red for Robert as he went up on the revs and his motor zinged into the bargain. Gentle 1.2671 sixty foot for Steve, feathering the throttle, 5.0910/143.46 at the eighth.

We then had a hold for rain. During the downtime word came from race officials that the Graham Ellis v Andy Frost and Robert Joosten v Steve Hall races are to be re-run as there was an issue with the left lane guard beam.

Bruno Bader 7.5144/206.12 def. Kev Slyfield no time DQ

Bruno away first 0.1334 to 0.1822. Instant shake for Kev, 1.6575 to sixty, 1.1334 for Bruno and then he hit shake. Then we had a pedalfest with both cars moveing around their lanes. 5.2465/153.64 to the eighth for Kev and 4,9954/139.54 for Bruno. Bruno then started to pull away which was just as well as Kev's Coupe was swinging left and right and crossed lanes just past 1000 feet.

Bert-Ove Olofsson 9.5790/94.04 bye, Wayne Nicholson broke

Wayne never made it out of the collection area and was towed back to the pits. 1.0444 to sixty for Bert-Ove, then shake and a move to the right, pedalled and got it straight 5.0520/106.17 to the eighth and then shut it off.

Marcus Hilt shut off, Marc Meihuizen shut off

Nice burnouts for both but shut off on the way back from their burnouts as rain started to fall.

Marcus Hilt 10.7540/104.81 bye, Marc Meihuizen no show

Marc Meihuizen returned to the pits after being shut off for rain, no word on the problem. Marcus didn't pull a burnout but nailed it on the green, instant tyre spin, pedalled a couple of times and feathered the throttle along the track. Marcus gets a bye next round.

David Vegter 6.2351/209.93 bye

#1 qualifier bye for David. Nice long burnout which tended to imply that he would be nailing it. 0.0205 RT, 1.0378 to sixty, car started to bounce a little before the eighth 4.0580/181.21, smoke in the second half and David shut it off before the stripe.

The two re-runs will take place shortly, we are now going into Super Street Bike.

10:30

Pretty close to getting going now - just dealing with water bubbling up through cracks and then we're on our way.

09:25

We are having the presentation to #1 qualifiers very shortly. The track is looking good and we have blue skies approaching.

Once racing commences we will do our best to post each pair as it has run, so keep hitting Refresh (I won't have time to put that at the top of the page each time), but in some classes this is very difficult so all we will guarantee is that we will do our best.

I think we're looking at starting at 10:00 or thereabouts. Stay tuned.

Good morning and welcome to our coverage of the FIA Main Event brought to you in asociation with Alamo Rent-A-Car.

Our webcam is not running today as Santa Pod are broadcasting their high-definition multi-camera Web TV for $10. You can sign up at www.santapod.co.uk/webtv.php. Please note that if you have any queries or comments about the Web TV service then please contact Santa Pod and not us. Our webcam will be back at the SPRC Summernationals.

One or two problems here in Race Control today as we have no internet access. It went out at about 19:00 last night and has not come back. This is a BT problem, not a Santa Pod problem, and one assumes that BT are working on it. The Eurodragster.com staff are equipped with 3G sticks so the reports and pit notes will continue as normal. This will also not affect the Web TV, as the Web TV uses a satellite link.

Looking much better out there today - the rain finally departed in the early hours and those who know about such things tell me that weather-wise we should be OK today. The track crew are already out there doing their thing and the track is already looking dry in places. A lot of effort is being spent on the shutdown area which as ever the most troublesome part of a wet track. I am guessing a delayed start but maybe not by much.
