Before anyone asks, I don't know (not in much detail anyway) who is planning to run so it will be as pleasant a surprise for me as it will be for you. Fellow Jon, Evans, up into #3 spot. Next pair a fine 0.0037 RT for Stuart Morrice and in the other lane a move from #11 to #6 for Nick Curtis. 16:25 Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator qualifying after session 4: Brian Payne blasts into the sevens and takes #1 spot with a fantastic run to start the session. Smoke from the motor in the second half though, track checked and found to be OK. A couple of runs later an improvement for Andy Bond moved him up to #7. Fantastic pass for Mark Todd, into the sevens, and a PB from Stuart Williams alongside him, well done guys! Jeff Meads up from #12 to #8 with a huge wheelie off the start line, moved Colin Lazenby down from #8 to #9. Big improvement for class and Eurodragster.com sponsor Bill Macdermid, good for one spot up the ladder.

Huge breakout for Jayne Kay, 7.3882/181.25 on a 7.77 dial-in, blasting her PB into next week, well done Jayne! Next pair and a move from #36 to #11 for Dave Gibbons. Nice side-by-side moves up the ladder for Nick Good and Johan Oomens, #12 to #5 and #29 to #11 respectively. Nick rolled the beams very slightly and I think he may have broken out had he not. Next pair and a huge move for Steve Johnson, #21 to #3, with an 80-foor wheelie into the bargain, great run. Great run also for Henning Blume, big move from #29 to #4, +0.0094 on dial-in. 0.0963 separating the top 22 at that point. Next up the ladder was Wouter van Leersum, #31 to #15, now the top 23 separated by 0.0963. Standings are all OK now. Pro ET qualifying after session 4: Perfect Light for Terry Robbins in the fourth pair, 0.0006, well done Terry! In the othefr lane Steve Hudson moved up from #15 to #5. At that point the top 21 were separated by 0.0965. Great RT by Steve Unsworth in the Gecko Racing Mustang, 0.0096. We understand that Steve is now quicker than Sara in the car. We had a couple of stops for sprinkles of rain. On the re-start Simon Innes moved up from #22 to #15. 12:45 Super Pro ET qualifying after session 2: Johan Oomen up from #31 to #22 first pair. Next pair and Tom Atkinson moved up to #4 from #12, Eurodragster.com Photographer Kirstie delighted with that. Dave Gibbons so close to paydirt with a -0.0001 RT next pair. Thomas Stiefel up from #32 to #13 having jumped the beams - I suspect that had he not done so he would have broken out on his 6.85 dial-in. Big breakout for Chris Hartnell, 8.7735 on an 8.83 dial-in, I am guessing from Claire's reaction that that is a PB. Wayward run for Henning Blume, the Belvedere making moves left and right at the eighth and from here it looked as if the driver's side door was open in the style of Freddy Fagerström. Henning shut it off at about 1000 feet. Dave Catton up to #10 from #30,in the other lane car owner Nick Good jumped the lights. First runs of the day for Mark Flavell and Jayne Kay who swapped engines over the off-season, Mark's first time out with the Hemi, tyres didn't liight on the burnout and sounded to be misfiring but plenty of time to sort that out. Solid run for Jayne in the other lane, breakout but probably not that worried at this point. Nice run for Scott Hauser, up from #23 to #6, in the other lane John Bradshaw lost drive at the hit.

10:35 Word from Sarah Howells is that the Ramraider slingshot does not have the requisite ModUrStang decals and so the £50 Perfect Light money is back up for grabs. "Darryl (owner and driver of Chemical Reaction) declined the offer of stickers to put on Ramraider because, and I quote, "You must be joking, we'll never get that good a reaction"!", says Sarah. "Eat your words Mr Howells!". A big thumbs up to Sarah for her honesty and who knows she may yet repeat the feat. Super Pro ET qualifying after session 1: Nice pass for Martyn Jones, one of very few 200 mph speeds ever recorded in Super Pro ET, but believe me there is even more to come there since the dragster rolled the beams and the motor hesitated for a moment at the hit. Very nicely-judged pass by Vince Gibbs, shut it off early as you can see from the terminal speed. First competitive pass for Eurodragster.com brother-in-law Tom Atkinson after licencing last Sunday, nice pass. Brief halt for track check in Johan Oomen's lane. Fifteen-minute hold for sprinkles of rain and then next up was Marc Henney, a previous winner of a Eurodragster.com Perfect Award at Hockenheim last year. I believe his first outing here at Santa Pod. And how about that, he takes the Eurodragster.com/Gold RV Perfect ET Award off the trailer! £100 better off subject to decal check, well done Marc! I'm sure with things the way they are he will prefer pounds to Euros. Next pair and an excellent pass for Chris Hartnell in the Backdraft slingshot, approaching a PB I think. Great to see Andy Raw back after a long lay-off having injured a hand last year, took out the 594-foot reflector after a valiant effort to keep the Beetle off the centre line. Looked like a very quick run for John Bradshaw, one of our other 200 mph Super Pro ET runners, but the Nissan jumped the beams going up on the revs and started the clock. Next pair and Lee Pike went for a wander in the Honky Tonkin' Gasser in the second half and eventually shut it off. Next pair featured the return of Paul Marston's PT Bruiser. Tyres spun at the hit and lost time recovering. In the other lane Ashley Bell's Cobra made a hard move to the right in the second half but he hung on to it. 7.00 dial-in for Thomas Stiefel, would he break out... not quite yet as both he and John Everitt were shut off on the line for sprinkles of rain. On the re-start Thomas did indeed break out and went over 200 mph into the bargain. In the other lane John Everitt's altered leapt all four wheels off at the hit. Next pair and drama as Deborah Laugher's Arrow ony hooked up one side propelling the car into the left guardrail about 70 feet out. The car then rebounded into the right guardrail which it hit almost head-on at about 300 feet - from here it looked as if the car was still under power as it crossed the track, throttle linkage moved by the first impact maybe. The start line crew were sprinting to help before the car had even hit the right guardrail, nice job guys. Deborah was kept in the car as a precaution until the paramedics had checked her out and then climbed out and got into the ambulance to applause from the spectators. Deborah's husband Dusty stepped up to see us and asked us to pass on his apologies for the downtime - not necessary, Dusty - and to thank the safety crews. Dusty said that Deborah has sprained a wrist and word came back from the medical team that she is otherwise OK.
