19:50 Super Pro ET eliminations round 1 Steve Johnson into the centre refuge and almost took the Tree out on a wheelying launch. Huge breakout for Martyn Jones, 6.2618 on a 6.60 dial-in, took the win as Dave Nelson redlit. Was actually quicker still as the dragster rolled the beams very slightly. Well done on the PB Syd and Crunch!

Billy Everitt into #1 spot with three pairs left to run. Next pair and Paige Wheeler moved up from #17 to #13. Thaliah Gibb took over #1 spot in the penultimate pair... which lasted all of one run as Morgan Wilson took over #1 by 0.0005.

Eric Teboul closed off the exhibition session with a 5.6607/207.93 on his Rocket Bike. 3.6075/214.77 at the eighth. 18:10 Nostalgia Funny Car exhibition Wendy Baker 6.9858/167.28 bye Nice run for Wendy. 1.1609 to sixty feet, 4.4240/170.47 at the eighth, sounded like a misfire and looked like a cylinder out. Off the throttle and chute out at about 1200 feet. Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association qualifying session 1 Joe Bond 6.5913/205.32, Nick Davies 6.3503/217.98; Adam Gleadow 8.3082/177.88 bye A quick tweak of the throttle stop by Roy Phelps as Nick came out of the collection area. Nick stopped from his long burnout with the idle sounding very high but it cleared itself. 1.1871 to sixty for Joe and 1.0531 for Nick, Joe's altered making moves left and right, mainly left, but he stayed with it, 4.2838/173,67 at the eighth. 4.1546/182.56 at the eighth for Nick, first there by 0.0319, again a very straight pass for that car. Joe's ET was pretty good for what must have been a half-mile run! Nick a fair way down the shutdown area before we saw his chutes. Adam's tyres spun up at the hit but he stayed on the throttle, 1.7531 to sixty and 5.5875/143.47 at the eighth. 18:00 Top Fuel Dragster licencing pass Duncun Micallef 5.1051/278.91 bye This run scheduled for 1000 feet. Again a very competent burnout. Some gesturing from a crew member before Duncun pulled forward but tuner Rune Fjeld signalled all OK. Fantastic run for Duncun: 0.9194 to sixty, 3.4480/236.41 at the eighth, slight drift to the left in the second half. Off the throttle at 1000 feet 4.3360/273.73. Well done Duncan! 17:45 Pro Fuel Shootout qualifying session 3 (left lane first): This is a good time to wish a very Happy Birthday to Richard Stevens of Eurodragster.com sponsor MPM Oil UK. Have a good day Richard. Risto Poutiainen 13.6743/65.23 bye; Jari Halinen 5.8205/187.43, Gordon Smith 8.1571/196.27 Two attempts to start Risto's motor and the motor running a fair while before tuner Rune Fjeld signalled Risto to pull forward. Huge tyre shake at the hit, 0.9005 to sixty and off the throttle before the Tree. Not sure anyone told Jari about Gordon's 0.35 head start as he redlit again, going with Gordon's light. 1.3434 to sixty for Jari, tyres shaking, a long pedal then back on it, 3.7549/250.92 at the eighth, off the throttle about 900 feet and chutes out before the stripe. Shake for Gordon, 1.7734 to sixty, long pedal and then back on the gas, 5.9299/177.10 at the eighth and then a bang from the MPM Oil / Marshall / Smokehead-sponsored FC right on the stripe. 17:35 MSA Pro Modified qualifying session 4 (left lane first): Steve Hall shut off bye; Graham Ellis no time, Kev Slyfield 18.5840/41.52; Wayne Nicholson 8.1285/206.18, Andy Wright 7.3548/191.31; Andy Frost 6.9995/218.14, Roger Moore 6.7251/207.95; Steve Hall 8.0499/175.72 bye Very brief burnout for Steve, just long enough to get the tyres up. Back to the start line and the motor stopped - didn't sound like a deliberate shut-off. Excellent, long burnouts by both Eurodragster.com sponsor Graham and Kev. Graham's Superbird jumped the beams as he spooled up the turbos, got on the gas for good measure and it looked like a good speed at the top end but no time. 1.4204 to sixty for Kev, the tyres shaking and smoking and he shut it off. 1.0861 to sixty for Wayne then the 'Vette made a hard right turn, he pedalled it for a good long time and then got back on the gas, 149.07 at the eighth. 1.1232 to sixty for Andy, went straight to the eighth, looked like a brief pedal at the eighth 4.6047/191.31. We have our first six-second street car, well done Frosty! 1.4572 to sixty, looked like a small amount of shake between 60 and 300, 4.7612/175.04 at the eighth. 1.1486 to sixty for Roger, 4.3774/167.14 at the eighth, straight pass into #1 spot. Another go for Steve, on and off the throttle all the way, 1.2405 to sixty, 5.1429/175.72 to the eighth. Qualifying after this session:
17:20 Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 3 (left lane first): Steve Woollatt 8.3457/98.63, Chris Hannam 15.4654/48.18; Ian King 6.4209/176.45, Rene van den Berg 25.2066/22.86 Chris back from his burnout before Steve came forward, very brief and pretty smoke-free burnout for Steve and his crew pushed him back very quickly. Nice-looking run for Steve to start with, 1.0850 to sixty, off the throttle before the eighth 4.3926/134.71, very straight and I am guessing a checkout pass. 1.2497 to sixty for Cannon but the bike was heading determinedly for the centre line and he shut it off way before the eighth. Great run for Ian. 1.1617 to sixty, 4.1134 at a big 190.43 at the eighth, shut it off at about 1100 feet and the parachute out in the shutdown area. 1,1663 to sixty for Rene but then a drive belt broke and he idled down the track. 17:15 Top Methanol qualifying session 3 (left lane first): Danny Bellio 6.1281/203.34 bye; Steph Milam 7.1858/141.14, Chris Polidano 5.7634/262.06 0.9964 to sixty for Danny, 3.9381/185.61 at the eighth, the car making a move for the centre line. Danny feathered the throttle very slightly then put the chutes out and got off the gas in the second half. Chris on a speed record needing 264.53 to back up yesterday's 267.20. Tremendous 0.0917 RT for Chris, 1.0803 to sixty, 3.9141/210.54 at the eighth, very straight pass blackstriping his lane. 1.2822 to sixty for Steph and then the FC really looked to pick up, 4.3136/167.77 at the eighth getting close to the guardrail and shutting it off in the second half. Two pairs later Stu Doignie went up from #11 to #6 whilst in the other lane Richie Webb's VW started to move about its lane and he had the chute out again to straighten it. That Beetle sixty-foots like no other car I've seen, though: leaves the line as if shot from a a catapult, 1.2668 to sixty feet when I thought yesterday's 1.30 was quick.

For those who wondered what happened to the audio stream just now, it had to be muted to quieten the track PA system for the filming of a TV interview. The track is well advanced towards race readiness. Stay tuned and we'll let you know when we're ready to go. 09:15 Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the Auto Trader Easter Thunderball brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car. The Webster Race Engineering/Nimbus Motorsport webcam is on-line and streaming live video and commentary/Nitro FM until the track closes. We are still broadcasting on the alternative broadband and I think that'll be the case for the rest of this event. It seems to working OK so hopefully that's this weekend's last drama. Similar situation to yesterday here, rain overnight and a damp track this morning. The track crew are doing their thing but I think it'll be a little while yet.
