Junior Drag Bike qualifying session 3 Conor Meehan and Alfie Udall went #1 and #2 respectively in the second pair. That lasted two pairs as Bobby Frazier took over #1 spot and alongside her Josh Webb moved up from #8 to #6.

The webcam will remain streaming for the time being but will eventually be stopped and likely without warning. 18:35 Sportsman ET qualifying session 3 Sean Armstrong up from #12 to #4 in the first pair. Next pair and looked like a flash of flame for Sarah Styles' Camaro, the safety crew were right there and the team had the bonnet up before you could say a very short word. All OK underneath and the team put the bonnet back just as quickly and Sarah made her run. Kev Long and Sara Unsworth went #1 and #2 respectively next pair.

Junior Dragster qualifying session 3 Brad Jackson up from #9 to #5 first pair. Two pairs later and Greg Robins moved up to #10 from #15, and was then bumped down to #11 as Josh Saunders moved up to #5. Thaliah Gibb next to make a move, again from #15, to #8 in this instance. Next pair and it's sisters on the start line as Paige and Belle Wheeler went side-by-side. Paige moved up from #18 to #6, bumping Belle down one spot in the process, Belle's dragster seemed to have trouble moving stopped off the line - maybe the 32 lb of lead which dad Andy of Eurodragster.com sponsor Alamo Rent-A-Car had to put on it to slow it down.

Wild Bunch qualifying session 3 Chris Hartnell up to #2 from #5 in the second pair. Next pair and Mark Coulsell lost fire on return from the burnout, one of his crew sprayed petrol into the injector only for the motor to blow back on firing up and ignite the petrol, from here it looked like the crew member's hand briefly went up with it plus of course the bottle which he threw away and the fire went with it. Everyone OK, no harm done. On the re-start Keith Crampton took over #2 spot.

18:00 Top Methanol session 2 Lindsay Deuchar 7.4038/165.52 bye Unfortunately we won't be seeing Steph Milam again this weekend as a piston broke in the last session, taking a liner with it and doing associated damage. Nice burnout for Lindsay, I would imagine that that is a bit like not forgetting how to ride a bike. Gentle launch, 1.3515 to sixty, 4.8343/156.87 at the eighth, off the throttle before the stripe. Building things up nicely. Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association session 2 (left lane first) Adam Gleadow 10.5070/127.98, Gary Page 10.7636 Gary's rear tyres up in smoke at the hit, off the throttle then idled it. Adam's car looked to be driving through the clutch and he was out in front of Gary most of the way, but then Gary gave it a little wellie right in the last knockings and got there first by 0.0900. 17:50 MSA Pro Modified qualifying session 3 (left lane first) Steve Hall 7.3993/195.56 bye; Wayne Nicholson 7.1908/205.20 bye; Mick Payne 7.5103/182.13, Jean Dulamon 7.4744/179.23; Nick Davies 7.1130/235.30, Andy Wright 7.3207/207.89; Roger Moore 6.7423/205.32 bye Another sub-7.4 run would do the trick for Steve and the run would count for qualifying. Another nice burnout and then 1.2062 to sixty, slight hesitation from the motor almost as if Steve's foot was pushed back, on the limiter just before the eighth 4.8628/152.13 and then a lot of smoke from about 1000 feet. Track checked and the clean-up crew sent to the top end. But the good news is that Steve is now licenced and that this run stands for qualifying. Nicely done, 7.40 or quicker and Steve runs a 7.399. Clean-up complete, Wayne took the bye. 1.1666 to sixty, a pedal for what looked like high-frequency shake, 4.7742/159.08 at the eighth, the Vette moved about its lane some but Wayne stayed with it and moved up to #3. Mick and Jean next up, great wheels-up launch for Mick, 1.0774 to sixty, 4.8126/144.76 at the eighth. 1.1401 to sixty for Jean, the Camaro swinging left and right with flames spitting at each gear change. Improvement for Jean, both stayed in place. Nick rolled the beams as he went up on the revs, a pedal and then wellied it, 179.89 at the eighth and another big top end speed. Shake for Andy, the Coupe made a move to the right, a pedal and back on it, 4.9209/160.20 at the eighth. Nick moved up a place. Wheels-up launch for Roger, sounded like slight hesitation or it may have been shake, 1.0832 to sixty and 4.3683/173.01 at the eighth, consolidated his #1 spot. Qualifying after this session:
17:20 Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 3 (left lane first) Steve Carey no time DQ, Ian King 6.1487/213.92; Kev Charman 10.0600/173.07, Chris Hannam 7.2400/187.28 1.4768 to sixty for Steve C, bike headed for the centre line and Steve was off the throttle and hit the 330 foot reflector. Fantastic run for Ian, blowing away his Personal Best by a long way. 1.0840 to sixty feet, 4.0214/192.55 eighth which is approaching Peter Svensson territory, header flames high in the air but looked like a cylinder out for a while too. Well done Ian!A big Well Done to Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator racer Alex McIntosh who answered Kev Charman's plea for a drive belt after the last session, waving aside all talk of recompense. Nice one Alex! Rear tyre up in smoke for Kev, stayed with it effectively pulling a second burnout, feathered the throttle and got back on it, big speed for a ten-second pass! Cannon sat on the line for a second and then hit the throttle, 1.2023 to sixty, full pass although the candles went out momentarily at the eighth. Qualifying after this session:

If I remember rightly (Robin or Spencer?) 7.40 seconds is the ET requirement for Pro Mod licencing and you have to do it twice so that's one on the board. Instant tyre spin for Wayne, Vette turned hard left, Wayne pedalled then rode the throttle all the way. 1.0726 to sixty for Roger, nice straight run, 4.3936/165.33 to the eighth and into #1 spot. 1.1220 to sixty for Jean, shake and the Camaro started to move about its lane, Jean shut it off but couldn't avoid the eighth-mile reflectors. During the reflector replacement I had a quick word with Race Director Robin Shone who confirmed that one more sub 7.4-second run will get Steve Hall his licence. Thanks also to Spencer Tramm who got in touch within about one minute, or maybe less, of our posting the above query. Reflectors replaced, Andy and Nick were next around the corner. Andy pulled the briefest of burnouts and the Coupe still managed to to a hard right. Shake for both Andy and Nick, 1.9237 to sixty for Andy and several pedals, 1.3209 for Nick trying to drive through the shake then pedalled and nailed it again, the huge terminal speed showing just what turbos will do for you, 162.54 at the eighth and 231.43 at the stripe. Nice straight burnout for Eurodragster.com sponsor, short linelock burnout for Mick. 1.0598 to sixty for Mick, 1.0905 for Graham and looked to leave the line with one cylnder out on the right side although it cleared quickly. Mick tried to drive through shake and the Camaro pretty much wrote his name on the track, moving left and right and Mick only got off it towards the top end when the car made a hard left move. A couple of pedals for Graham also, 4.3941/161.75 at the eighth and chutes out before the stripe. Qualifying after this session:

Brief squirt of a burnout for Mick. Mick away first 0.3747 to 0.5482, the better sixty 1.0945 to 1.1184, Jean's motor was spitting flame from the launch onwards. Both got close to the centre line, it was almost choreographed, 4.7675/150.65 at the eighth for Jean and 4.8473/142.03 for Mick. Nick coming into today's session on the back of a 6.29/239 in testing yesterday. Tyres up in smoke at the hit, pedalled and shake, shut it off. 1.0344 to sixty for Wayne then shake and the Vette made a hard move to the right. A pedal, 5.1157/139.10 at the eighth, then back on the gas. Two goes at the burnout for Eurodragster.com sponsor Graham then 0.9984 to sixty, shake and the Cuda went for the guardrail, a pedal then 4.6538/154.20 at the eighth, off the throttle and chutes out in the second half. Roger and Dave Moore had a bad time getting here, having been involved in a pile-up on the A14 yesterday. No-one badly hurt, not a lot of damage. Cannon earns "Most Evil-Sounding Race Vehicle On The Facility" so far, the bike again growing fangs when the nitro kicked in on start-up. Short burnout then a great run, dead straight, 1.2187 to sixty feet, 4.6097/161.92 to the eighth, some smoke from the motor in the second half but on the throttle all the way. Not the usual screaming burnout from Steve W, took it very sedately. Steve in pre-stage before Kev was back from his burnout. 1,0842 to sixty for Steve, looked like the rear tyre unloaded when the front end came down, shake and smoke and shut off. 1.1471 to sixty for Kev, really accelerating hard, straight run, 4.3581/171.59 at the eighth, close to or a PB I think, and #1 spot. Next up is the first of today's three Pro sessions. 11:20 Junior Dragster qualifying session 1 A big Good Morning to Zak and the Johnsons who are tuned in, Zak having retired from Junior racing at the last event. Rhiannon Bellenie is now in Zak's car and squeaked a red light but put in a nice first run in the low eights. Also in a new car is Laura Turburville, very nice-looking piece it is too, even has a front wing. First competitive outing for Belle Wheeler - eight years old on Thursday, licenced yesterday and racing today. Run too quick and DQ'd. Next pair and Belle's sister Paige went -0.0002, a squeak from taking the Eurodragster.com/Cotsweld Race Cars Perfect Light Award.

10:45 Funny Bike qualifying session 1 Second pair Tim Blakemore and Mike Chislett, both from Bristol: a pair of Bristols out on the start line then. Sorry, couldn't let that one go unremarked. Great run from Mike, Tim was going great guns but then something came off the bike. Bob Brooks on one of Richard Gipp's bikes this weekend. Very competent burnout but then jumped the lights, good enough run but not timed. Burnout of the day so far by Al Young, looks like a new bike to me also. Good to see Klaus Brinkmann back with us, Klaus was of course a member of the very popular German Blue Klaus / Yellow Klaus duo in Super Street Bike some years ago together with Klaus Sarembe.
