Today's pictures have now been posted and can be checked out via the Event Index. There are 105 pictures in all; if you do not see all 105 updated thumbnails when you load the gallery page then click on your Browser's Refresh button.

That's all for today - we think a sixteen-hour working day is pretty much enough. Tune back in the morning and we'll bring you all the news from eliminations.

21:20

We have posted Ed's pit notes, which you can view via the Event Index page. Ed managed to snatch a few notes first thing this morning before having to rush back to the start line to photograph.

We will post another update when we have posted today's pictures.

20:45

We're done for the day here. Well, the racing is done, the Eurodragster.com staff are not.

We're now going to work on today's pictures, and Ed has a tranche of pit notes for you. Stay tuned for an update about those. We will leave the webcam running for a while but it will be switched off eventually and most likely without warning; you can stay with the Nitro FM audio-only stream via our Event Index page.

UEM Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 4 (left lane first)

Kev Charman 25.9757/18.79 bye; Ian King 6.5264/210.62 bye, Petri Paljakka shut off; Steve Woollatt 6.4380/208.16, Steve Carey 7.0227/168.52

1.1991 to sixty for Kev but then the front end of the bike thumped down to earth and the motor zinged, no drive, the bike behaved as if a drive belt had broken. Shock as the reigning Champion is shut off on the line for a fluid leak and does not qualify. Ian took the bye, 1.188 to sixty feet, 4.300/180.67 at the eighth, improvement but stayed in second. another nice run for Steve W, 1.088 to sixty and 4.188/176.22 to the eighth, another storming start for Steve C, 1.065 to sixty and 4.342/160.78 at the eight with a yellow nitro cloud above the bike in the second half, looked like a cylinder out, the bike started to move towards the guardrail and Steve shut it off about 1100 feet out.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Steve Woollatt 6.4107/207.05
  2. Ian King 6.5264/210.62

Good effort from Cannon, a full pass. 1.328 to sixty feet, 5.033/147.24 to the eighth, a few places up the ladder but not enough to race tomorrow. Great pass for Hans Olav, up to fifth from the bottom of the field. 1.149 to sixty for Samu, 1.160 for Hans Olav riding through shake. 4.662 to the eighth for Samu, 4.532 for Hans Olav. Samu on the bump. Good run for Job moved him up the ladder, 1.152 to sixty feet and 4.458/161.81 at the eighth. 1.115 to sixty for jan Sturla, 1.1221 for Trond, huge flash of flame and a bang from Trond's motor (maybe the snap in the Christmas Cracker leathers) and that was the end of his qualifying chances. 4.451/161.84 to the eighth for Jan Sturla but shut it off at about 1000 feet. 1.365 to sixty for Per, 1.136 for Roel, 4.587/174.27 at the eighth for Per and a quicker 4.360/173.03 for Roel, but Roel had to shut it off as the bike came close to the centre line. Both safely in tomorrow's ladder though. 1.1048 to sixty for Christian, 1.147 for Lo, his bike again tried to throw him off and he was off it before the eighth. 4.304/161.80 to the eighth for Christian but shut it off at about 1000 feet.

UEM Pro Stock Bike qualifying session 4 (left lane first)

Martin Newbury no time DQ (bye); Gert-Jan Laseur 7.5446/169.18 bye; Elvira Karlsson no time, Mark Smith 7.7566/165.45; Karl-Heinz Weikum 17.0652/33.75 DQ, Len Paget 7.7121/167.30; Ray Debben shut off, Kalle Lyrén 7.4942/178.45 bye; Martin Bishop 7.4943/174.41, Rasmus Olesen 7.5409/169.84; Jesper Thiel 7.4065/179.26, Fredrik Fredlund no time;

1.215 to sixty for Martin, bike drifting to the left wanting to cross the centre line and eventually hit one of the 1000-foot reflectors. Gert-Jan into the ladder with this nice run, 1.136 to sixty, 4.735/144.32 at the eighth. Elvira revved the motor a few times but didn't move when the lights ran. 1,142 toi sixty for Mark, 4.878/140.84 at the eighth and into tomorrow's top half as things stood at that point (sixteen-bike field tomorrow). 1.137 to sixty for Karl-Heinz, 1.150 for Len, Karl-Heinz' bike moved to the right and then hit the 330-foot reflector. Len well ahead at that point, 4.860/141.66 at the eighth and into the top half of the ladder. A big Thank You to Eurodragster.com sponsor Fred Furlong for popping up earlier to point out to your reporter that our earlier qualifying lists featured Ray Debben no less than twice - my mistake for which apologies. This time around Ray shut off after the burnout, Kalle took the bye. 0.098 RT, 1.139 to sixty feet, 4.766/145.73 at half track. That run good for three places on the ladder. Consistent run for Martin especially in these conditions, 1.125 to sixty and 4.736/143.85 at the eighth. Rasmus got to sixty in 1.103 and the eighth in 4.740/144.29, moving to the right all the way down the track. Fredriks' motor cut out off the line. 1.252 to sixty for Jesper, relatively pedestrian sixty foot time that was, 4.751/151.52 at the eighth, ended the day in #1 spot with his previous best.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Jesper Thiel 7.2518/174.39

Eric Teboul followed the TMD re-run with a 5.4682/231.33 on his Rocket Bike. Great pass, 3.583/219.96 at the eighth.

Looks like we are going straight into today's second, and the final, Pro qualifying session.

15:40

FIA Top Methanol Dragster qualifying session 3 (left lane first)

Timo Habermann 5.5336/254.64 bye; Monty Bugeja 7.7200/152.67 DQ bye; Krister Johansson shut off , Derek Flynn shut off; Dennis Habermann 5.5840/248.22, Dave Wilson 5.5948/251.82; Fred Hanssen 5.4460/262.69, Paul Ingar Udtian 6.0154/174.34

Krister Johansson 5.5370/252.24, Derek Flynn 5.6564/253.26

Looked like cylinders out and very brief shake at the hit for Timo. Shake gone by the Tree, 0.913 to sixty feet. 3.617/205.91 at the eighth, straight run, no improvement on his previous best. Oliver Azzopardi was expected alongside Monty but didn't appear around the corner. Bizarre run for Monty, 1.003 to sixty with shake and tyre smoke but then the car started to weave around its lane, swinging left and right with the motor screaming and tyres shaking - I am guessing from the car's behaviour that the throttle was stuck open. The car went further and further under power getting more and more out of shape, taking out the 1000 foot and top end reflectors and then Monty got the motor stopped and the chutes out. Taking a hand off the wheel to kill the motor when the car was going all over the place must have taken a lot of courage.

On the restart we had Krister and Derek pulling in to stage when they were signalled to shut off for rain. Both went back to the pits. After twenty five minutes' or so rain delay next up were Dennis and Dave. 0.919 to sixty for Dennis, 0.982 for Grumpy, 3.622/203.22 to the eighth for Dennis, Grumpy to half track in 3.717/210.45 with a cylinder out from there to the stripe. Chutes out right on the line for Grumpy. 200-foot burnout for Paul Ingar and stopped rolling out at half-track. Fred deep-staged and then Paul Ingar visibly moved before him 0.043 to 0.227. 0.949 to sixty for Paul ingar and 0.954 for Fred, Fred had the better eighth 3.595/211.89 to Paul Ingar's 3.650/204.75, Paul Ingar's blower belt came off and landed on the track right after the eighth. Improvement for Fred but he stayed in place.

Krister and Eurodragster.com sponsor Derek returned after forty five minutes or so to turn the cars around. 0.970 to sixty for Krister, 0.997 for Derek and looked like he had a cylinder out from 200 feet or so for the rest of the pass. 3.677/213.90 to the eighth for Krister, 3.756/209.48 for Derek. Looked like Krister shut it off a touch early, chutes were out bang on the stripe. Krister moved a couple of places up the ladder

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Timo Habermann 5.4216/258.18
  2. Fred Hanssen 5.4460/262.69
  3. Dave Wilson 5.4727/268.76
  4. Monty Bugeja 5.5007/263.52
  5. Dennis Habermann 5.5089/253.80
  6. Krister Johansson 5.5370/252.24
  7. Paul Ingar Udtian 5.5383/253.81
  8. Derek Flynn 5.5431/263.61

Fuel Funny Car session 2

Gordon Smith 5.4491/236.09 bye

Another nice run for the Shockwave FC. 0.997 to sixty, 3.650/229.85 to the eighth, blackstriping all the way.

15:25

FIA Pro Modified qualifying session 3 (left lane first)

Bert Englefield 7.9418/198.12 bye; David Vegter shut off (bye); Marcus Hilt 7.9749/133.27 bye, Norbert Kuno shut off; Robert Joosten 7.9545/127.22, Nick Davies no time; Robert Koper 13.8506/66.53, Per Svedberg 6.1570/221.13; Marco Maurischat shut off, Roger Moore 8.9798/100.08 bye; Graham Ellis 8.9035/104.80, Marc Meihuizen 6.7538/223.27; Wayne Nicholson 7.3728/183.62, Mats Eriksson 7.1708/193.79 Urban Johansson 6.9329/161.90, Adam Flamholc 10.851/77.10; Micke Gullqvist 6.1804/231.66, Johan Lindberg 6.1392/229.03; Bruno Bader 6.1978/224.74, Andy Robinson 6.1782/228.90

Spin at the hit for Bert, 1.286 sixty betrays the fact. Bert on and off the throttle and then stayed on it in the second half hence the speed. Two goes at the burnout for David and then shut off. Marcus' team all wearing Henri Joosten T-Shirts in support of Henri after yesterday's events, a gesture which deeply touched Henri. Norbert shut off before the burnout, Marcus took the bye. 1.016 to sixty for Marcus and then on and off the throttle as the Vette moved about its lane. Puff of smoke from the right side every time he got off the throttle. 4.789/134.06 to the eighth and into the ladder as things stand. Can't get over how quiet the turbo Superbird is in the burnout! The 'Bird jumoed through stage going up on the three-step so no time. 0.9976 to sixty for Robert, great looking run but then shake and a pedal about 300 feet out, on and off the throttle but in tomorrow's ladder as things stand. Nice run for Par, 0.994 to sixty feet, big 3.994/182.50 at the eighth but then smoke from the Demon and the car disappeared into a big white could at the stripe. 1.5649 to sixty for Robert when the car moved, which was not for some time, very early shut off. All seems OK with Per, safety crews chased him down the shutdown area but returned within moments. Improvements for both but neither moved from their previous ladder positions. Eurodragster.com sponsor Marco shut off on the way back from the burnout, Roger took the bye. Wheels up and shake at the hit, up to the top of second gear and shut it off. Screaming high-rev burnout for Eurodragster.com sponsor Graham. 0.990 to sixty for Graham, 1.015 for Marc, Graham hit shake past the Tree and had to pedal it, same story for Marc who hit shake past the Tree. 4.965 to the eighth for Graham and 4.520 for Marc who got into the ladder. Wayne v Mats was a contest to see who could go the furtheest out of shape, 1.003 to sixty for Mats and 1,055 for Wayne, Mats' Crown Victoria veered towards the centre line and Mats stayed with it as long as he could but eventually had to pedal. 4.481/136.76 to the eighth for Wayne and 4.445/131.55 for Mats, Mats back on the throttle as Wayne's 'Vette went for the centre line and he had to shut it off. 0.990 to sixty for Adam and 1.039 for Urban, Adam hit shake past the Tree and got off the throttle as the Camaro started moving about its lane, 5.410/90.31 at the eighth. 4.285/168.40 at the eighth for Urban and he was off the throttle just after. Long wait on the start line for Micke and Johan whilst the previous pair cleared the shutdown area. Great match between Micke and Johan, Micke away first 0.160 to 0.191, storming 0.978 to sixty for Micke and 1.008 for Johan. Micke's Camaro shook and went right and I think I heard a brief pedal, the car looked to be skating at the eighth 4.052/182.64 to Johan's 4.020/184.68. Micke pulled the car back to the middle of his lane and Johan put the chutes out just a touch early. Fine match between Bruno and Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy. Andy away first 0.059 to 0.149, 0.999 to sixty for Andy to Bruno's 1.024. Andy drove through shake, an acceptable level I guess, 4.030/181.71 at the eighth to Bruno's 4.038/181.99. Consistent 6.1s from both but no changes in position.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Bruno Bader 6.1165/226.75

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car qualifying session 3 (left lane first)

Dezsoe Krivan 6.7955/167.91, Steph Milam 6.1497/232.55; Rob Turner 6.0409/225.77, Jürgen Nagel 6.3468/124.23; Arvid Grødem 6.0442/217.20 DQ, Danny Bellio 5.8317/242.50; Ulf Leanders 5.9865/245.41, Jarmo Kuutniemi 7.1330/167.32

Hello to Steve Wilson tuned in from Switzerland following the progess of Eurodragster.com sponsor Dezsoe. 1.104 to sixty for Steph to Dez' 1.2505, Steph well ahead by the eighth 4.052/187.75 to 4.247/183.46, Dez then shut it off past half track whilst Steph stayed with it. Long, Last Photographer burnout for Jürgen. Jürgen was really on one there, 0.959 to sixty feet, 3.664/201.10 at the eighth where his blower panel blew, the body panel flew into the air and the chutes deployed. 1.083 to sixty for Rob, 3.969/189.64 at the eighth, up a couple of places on the ladder. We encountered Arvid in the pits last night and asked after the piece of metal bent around his right thumb and - if you are squeamish you may prefer to avoid the next bit - it transpired that Arvid had tried to drill a hole in his thumb, a thumb with which he has to hit a shift button. To protect against agony when he hit the shift Arvid taped a strip of metal around his thumb and shifts with that. Anyway back to the run and a superb run for Danny and a great driving job. 0.952 to sixty to Arvid's 1.123, the FC started to move left and right with successively more violent swings, Danny stayed with it though. 3.810/193.44 to the eighth for Danny, 3.995/192.78 for Arvid, as soon as Danny got his FC straight Arvid's Mustang started to move to the right and hit the 1000 foot speed and both top end reflectors. Arvid wasn't happy with his tyres yesterday and his team changed both tyres and inners last night. Ulf on a European ET record, would this be the back-up run? No, but another candidate for driving job of the weekend. Storming 0.947 to sixty feet for Ulf, then driving through shake with the car swaying left and right so violently that we saw both sides of it. Ulf wasn't bothered, just pedalled it and got it straight, 3.884/192.78 at the eighth. 0.9585 to sixty for Jarmo, hitting shake and pedalling, 4.497/153.20 at the eighth and then shut off as the car started to move around.

UEM Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 3 (left lane first)

Steve Woollatt 6.4107/207.05 bye; Petri Paljakka no time, Ian King 6.5840/212.90; Steve Carey 9.0028/93.32, Kev Charman 7.4246/187.36

Superb run for Steve W. 1.054 to sixty, 4.145/176.20 to the eighth, absolutely straight run as is usual for the Dealer, into #1 spot. Great stuff. Championship leader Ian King sat right behind Steve waiting to run, how would he respond to that? Nice pass, big step up from yesterday's best, 1.167 to sixty, 4.343/177.08 at the eighth, yellow nitro cloud above the bike in the second half. Petri's motor grunted at the hit, no drive, rolled to a stop at half track. The Champion has one more chance to get in. Steve C was on a good one to start with, a storming 1.068 to sixty, but then off the throttle before half track - I think that may have been planned. 1.293 to sixty for Kev, 4.777/156.35 at the eighth.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Steve Woollatt 6.4107/207.05
  2. Ian King 6.5840/212.90

Straight run for Samu, 1.116 to sixty, 4.567/150.62 at the eighth then the motor started to hesitate and he shut it off. Synchronised loss of traction for Cannon and Job, Job was a bit further out though - 1.174 to sixty to Cannon's 1.673. Best run of the weekend for Martijn, 1.343 to sixty and 5.072/147.13 with a hesitation from the motor at about half track and a trip towards the centre line. Good for a few places up the ladder. 1.160 to sixty for Svein Olaf and then a bang and flash of flame from the motor at about 300 feet. 1.246 sixty for Trond, 1.164 for Greger, all eyes then on Greger as there was a huge bang and flash of flame and an exhaust pipe and some smaller pieces came off the bike. Greger is quite OK. Jan Sturla jumped the beams and shut off, nice run for Roel in the other lane, 1.140 to sixty, a brief feather of the throttle about 500 feet out, 4.658/169.18 at half track and into second place. Lo gets wild ride of the weekend, the bike making violent moves left and right and over at quite some angle. Great pass for Per, 1.156 to sixty, 4.372/176.73, and shutting off early as the bike got very close to the centre line. Fantastic run for Christian, into #1 spot and blowing away his PB. 1.103 to sixty, 4.337/171.71 at the eighth, rode out a fishtail and straight down the middle of his lane. Well done Christian and the Black Seven guys!

Super Pro ET qualifying after session 7

Big move for Barry Giles in the first pair, up from #19 to #3. Chris Orthodoxou up from #5 to #3 in the next pair, alongside him Steve Saunders went from #20 to #15. Big move for Nick Good, #19 to #6 towards the end of the session. Full pass for Al Didwell's new dragster and a tiny break-out but Al will I'm sure be pleased with the run. 0.007 RT by Andy Raw next pair. Great to see Vince Gibbs back on track with the Nosferatu Firebird, 7.25 dial-in for the first run and in to #23 spot with a 7.468. Great 7.696 run for Rob Smallworth in the other lane, a break-out but the team looked happy enough. Last in this session was Martyn Jones with his rebuilt dragster, Martyn told us last night that there were problems with the brakes. Not happy with something on the way back from the burnout and shut off.

8:20

Good morning and welcome to our coverage of the FIA Main Event brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car.

The Webster Race Engineering/Nimbus Motorsport webcam is on-line and will be broadcasting live video and commentary/Nitro FM audio as long as the track is open.

Another overcast day here at Santa Pod although brighter than yesterday. We still have a very stiff headwind with the occasional gust which is making Race Control rock back and forth.

We have received a number of very nice E-Mails about our coverage this weekend. We hope that their authors will understand that we can't answer them right now but they are very much appreciated and the whole team gets to see them.

We are due to start at 9:00 with Sportsman qualifying cycle 7; the Pro sessions are due at 10:30 and 14:30. Ed is already on his way to the pits to get some notes and Roger has polished his lenses (that is not a euphemism) and has put on several layers of clothing. We're all set, so tune back at 9:00 and we'll have all the news for you.
