We're going to leave the webcam running for a while but it is likely to be stopped without warning. You can listen to the Nitro FM audio stream via the link on the Event Index page. 20:25 Super Street Bike qualifying session 4 Simon Giordmaina into the sevens and up from #16 to #14, almost an all seven-second field now, one more bike needs to get into the sevens. A shower of sparks and a puff of smoke from Pete Field's bike just past the eighth and the smoke continued all the way down the shutdown area, word on the track radio is that there are pieces of aluminium on the track and we have fluid also. With clean-up still taking place Race Director Robin Shone has decided to put this session on hold and we will complete it in the morning. Qualifying as it stands, with a number of pairs yet to run:

Zak pulled over to the guardrail just past the eighth. Brad Jackson up from #8 to #4 two pairs after the restart. Joe Kellett up from #8 to #3 in the last pair of the session.

19:20 Super Comp qualifying session 4 Jon Giles getting closer and closer to the eights, 9.04 first pair and another PB. Nice 0.007 RT for Collin Morrice and up from #11 to #6 in the second pair. Next pair and Paul vrind moved up from #7 to #3 and in the other lane Paul Brown moved up from #11 to #9. Improvement for Pete Cresswell to consolidate his #1 spot.

19:15 Super Pro ET qualifying session 4 Mark Flavell went to the line with "7.55 ish" on the back of the FC, 755-ish is was at 7.686 but a big move from #41 to #19. Marck harteveld up from #13 to #8 in the other lane. Excellent 0.009 RT for Reinier van Schelt and up from #25 to #12, in the other lane Bob Hawkins made a big jump from #29 to #5. Next pair and Nick George's header blast blew photographer and Honorary Eurudragster.com Staff Member Andy Willsheer's cap off as he passed during the burnout, followed it up by climbing from #24 to #9. Barry Giles next up the ladder, #19 to #7 a couple of pairs later. Good to see Dave Evans back in the Doomsday Impala after the problems last session, Simon has spoken to Dave and you will be able to read what he said in the next pit note update due shortly. Joe Stevens up to #24 from #38 a couple of pairs later. Dave Catton up from #30 to #9 in the next pair. The changes kept on coming as Mathijs Kraetzer moved up from 32 to 21 in the next pair and in the other lane Jack Brewster blasted from #20 up to #2, well done Jack! Bob Doyle up from #17 to #10, in the other lane Paula Atkin's Mustang took a step to the right on launch and she had to pedal it. Top 21 separated by 0.0923 at this point. Another bereakout for Scott Hauser, 8.190 on an 8.25 dial-in, I suggest 8.00 for the next run! Tyres up in smoke for Bernard Saz and then up on two wheels, hard left and crossed lanes, luckily Robin Orthodoxou was well ahead by then.

Third pair and Graham Balchin took his #2 spot back from Graham Dance. Quickest sixty foot so far by Ven, 1.2766 on a run of 7.3788/193.77. Thomas Granica up from #10 to #8, crossed lanes just after the stripe and smoke from the motor in the shutdown area. Track checked and all OK. Wayne Saunders next up the ladder, up from #12 to #4 and into the 7.5s, back on the horse I'd say! Danny Cockerill with a new PB and up from #17 to #8, well done Danny!

17:30 Super Street Bike qualifying session 2 re-run Steve Venables and Dave Smith took a re-run after the timing system failed on their Q2 pairing, Dave Smith didn't make it out of the bleach box, Ven took a 7.3711/193.89 bye. Super Comp qualifying session 3 Second pair and Eric Pellegrom moved from #11 to #4, moved down to #5 a couple of pairs later as Paul Marston took over #4 spot from #8. Next pair and Jeremy Prince's pick-up started to make hard moves left and right so he shut it off.

17:25 Super Pro ET qualifying session 3 Norbert Schneider first to make a sizeable move, up from #18 to #11. Joe Stevens shut off after the burnout in his pairing with Rod Harrison who took the bye and moved up from #34 to #4, great run. Next pair and Dave Catton shut off after his burnout. Next pair, same lane, Nick George shut off after his burnout and was pushed back. Next pairing and John Atkinson moved up from #26 to #5. Next pair and Dave Evans shut off at about 300 feet then the big Impala drifted left and gently tagged the guardrail, that was a strange one - almost as if the steering wheel came off. The car stopped about half way down the shutdown area and was towed off by the top end crew. Jack Brewster almost had the Eurodragster.com/Cotsweld Race Cars Perfect Light Award, but for a minus sign in front of the 0.0004. Next time Jack! 6.69 dial-in for John Bradshaw next pair, 6.7227 at a huge 208.84 and up from #11 to #4, well done John! New PB for Scott Hauser, 8.2902, unfortunately on an 8.40 dial-in. Bob Doyle up from #30 to #8 next pair. Great pair of runs next, Nick Good up from #36 to #5, not rolling the beams even slightly this time, and Guido Uhlir in the other lane up from #40 to #14, both safely in the ladder I'd say. Next pair and Bernard Saz shut off after his burnout again, in the other lane Steve Johnson moved from #15 to #12. Next run and Rick Garrett moved up to #2 from #19, nicely-judged pass. The new start line has got some rubber and has had some sun on it and from where I am sat it looks as if it is starting to come round nicely.

Wheelie and hop, skip and jump for Mark Richardson, moved up from #32 to #26. Fantastic run for Richie Webb in his street-legal Beetle, 9.371 on a 9.40 dial-in. Next pair and Rick Denny moved up from #15 to #4. Carla Pittau up from #31 to #3 three pairs later, getting the car to hook up after problems earlier. 0.003 RT by Steve Hudson next pair, close to the Eurodragster.com/Cotsweld Race Cars Perfect Light Award. Simon Giordmaina went as close as it is possible to go to the top end reflectors without actually hitting them, real fag-paper job. Improvement for Rick Stubbins next pair but stayed in #3 at that point. Next pair and Mogens Lund moved up from #14 to #10. Graham Dance up from #17 to #9 and Pete Field in at #13 next pair. Richard Hann up from #12 to #6 next run, improvement for Chris Reed in the other lane but stayed in place. Huge jump for Garry Bowe, #19 to #4 in the last run of the session.

Jon Giles getting closer to his first 8.9, Brian Pateman in the other lane broke out. Looked like problems for Phil Bennett next pair, off the throttle about 300 feet out, slowing right down and idling through, didn't quite make it to the end of the shutdown area but recovery effected very quickly.

15:25 Super Pro ET qualifying session 2 Nick George up from #27 to #11 in the first pair whilst Eurodragster.com sponsor Pete Walters was shut off after his burnout. Chris Hartnell up from #27 to #14 second pair. Dave Raper up from #30 to #13 two pairs later, in the other lane another big burnout by Marck Harteveld. Next pair and the motor of Rod Harrison's dragster stopped dead about 100 feet out, car behaved as if the kill switch had been shaken off. Dave v Dave next pair, Dave Catton up from #32 to #14 whilst in the other lane Dave Evans moved up from #9 to #2 in the big Impala. Next out were John Atkinson and Reinier van Schelt, after problems burning out in Q1 John blasted from #34 to #20, in the other lane Reinier moved from #23 to #12. Thomas Haas took over #12 spot next pair, up from #34. Great run for Dave Gibbons next pair, up from #10 to #2, that's what getting rid of the Work Experience boy will do for you. Breakout for Nick Good, 6.949 on a 7.03 dial-in and that was with a roll of the beams. next pair and Ian Powell moved up from #26 to #8, nice run. Great burnout by Matt Glassup in the Xtreme dragster but then shut off on the way back from the burnout. Couple of goes at a launch for Al Didwell after the car jumped forward and out of stage on engaging the transbrake, on the second attempt he went anyway. First run of the day for Paula Atkin in her six-second Mustang, tyres smoked at the hit and she shut off and pulled over to the side of the lane about 400 feet out. Fantastic run for John Bradhsaw next pair, 6.751/208.91 on a 6.81 dial-in, maybe a Comp Eliminator flashback. We didn't see our Eurodragster.com colleague Kirstie crewing with John Atkinson and that turned out to be because fer primary driver John Everitt was ready for his return to the track with all sorts of work done to the Alien altered. Uncharacteristically short burnout, taking it easy with new bits I guess. 8.99 dial-in, step to the left at the hit, on and off the throttle all the way down. Next pair and Jack Brewster's crew looked happy with an 8.545 breakout on an 8.50 dial-in. Next pair and Nigel Payne moved up from #23 to #6 in his Super Mod, good performance against dial-in. Scoot Hauser up from #40 to #14 next pair, Guido Uhlir in the other lane ran 8.449 on an 8.46 dial-in, Skorpion and his fellow crew looked pleased with that one. Spin, motor zing and a hard left turn for Bob Doyle's Datsun, car stopped about 150 feet out. Bernard Saz shut off after his burnout and sat 100 feet out whilst Nick Good took his bye. Driving job of the day by Robin Orthodoxou, regular readers of our reports will know what occurred: wheels-up, shake, all four wheels off at one point, close to the guardrail, stayed on the throttle anyway. Some cars are having problems with the new start line and some aren't; one suspects that a couple of sessions of rubber and some sun will make all the difference.

It must be the week for Top Fuel news as hot on the heels of yesterday's news that Tommy Johnson Jr's suspension has been upheld comes news that UK Top Fuel Dragster racer and multiple FIA European Championship holder Andy Carter quit the West Tec team yesterday and will be running the dragster under the Lucas Oil/Carter Motorsport banner this weekend, which is his last weekend in competition.
