Both cars' tyres up in smoke at the hit. Leif shut it off and rolled to a halt at about 1150 feet. One more hit from Gordon and then idled through.

Urban Johansson 6.2049/223.39 def. Johan Lindberg 6.1373/234.07 DQ

-0.1816 red for Johan gave the event title to Urban. Urban left early himself by -0.0594 but first or worst and all that. 0.9980 to sixty for Urban, shake from the Tree to about 250 feet, 4.0418/179.12 at the eighth.

Rob Turner 5.8090/236.05 def. Ulf Leanders 7.0907/130.57

Rob visibly away first 0.0750 to 0.1011, 0.9934 to sixty feet to Ulf's 1.0003, Ulf drove through a little shake whilst Rob's FC made a move towards the guardrail but he stayed with it, 3.8186/198.46 at the eighth for Rob to Ulf's slowing 3.9829/164.05, the culprit Ulf's blower belt laying on the track just at the eighth. Another PB for Rob, well done guys!

Timo away first 0.0476 to 0.0655, the better sixty foot time 0.9250 to 0.9727, Fred's dragster started to make a move to the left, 3.5883/213.91 at the eighth for Fred to Timo's 3.5284/210.44. One of Fred's chutes deployed just past the eighth and it looked like he was dragging it under power. 0.1228 at the stripe.

It was a pedalfest all the way down the track from that point with the lead appearing to change hands several times all the way down the track. 5.0454/139.40 to the eighth for Risto, 5.1016/143.01 for Urs, Risto only chucked it in when his dragster made a hard move for the centre line, Urs jumped ahead and took it by 0.8180. Smoke from Urs' motor but track checked and found to be OK. Congratulations to 2011 FIA European Top Fuel Dragster Champion, repeat Champion to boot, Urs Erbacher.

Not quite enough to back up the 5.881, and equalling the existing ET record.

Micke made it but his oil filter came loose as the crew went to start the motor, a fair bit of MPM Oil on the ground beneath the car when it was pushed back. Great half pass for Risto, 0.9123 to sixty feet, 3.3651/229.22 at the eighth but already shut off by then.

Urs Erbacher 5.8300/157.96 bye, Jari Halinen shut off

Jari couldn't get out of reverse; Chief Starter Ian Marshall gave his team all the time he dared with Urs waiting and then signalled him to shut it off. 0.9530 to sixty feet, shut off before the eighth 3.3570/217.98. It's now quite simple, whoever wins the final wins the Championship regardless of the sanction applied to TJ Jr.

Johan drove through Grumpy's acceptable level of shake, 4.1802/179.79 to the eighth whilst Micke's Camaro was pretty much side-on to us, then he crossed the centre line and took out the eighth-mile reflectors. The Championship is now down to how far Bruno Bader goes in eliminations.

Peter visibly away first 0.2022 to 0.5222, 1.0421 to sixty to Otto's 1.2046. Another three-second eighth for Peter 3.9160/202.01, Otto was shut off by the eighth and then crossed lanes taking out one of the 1000 foot reflectors. Peter shut off at about 1000 feet.

-0.3177 red light for Steve as his motor coughed and threw out unburnt fuel and the bike rolled the beams. Petri's rear tyre up in smoke just off the line, 1.4091 to sixty, off the throttle not long after.

Ian away first 0.1557 to 0.1775, rear tyre up in smoke at the hit. Stayed with it for about 200 feet but then got off the throttle. 1.1199 to sixty for Sverre, 4.2848/183.46 at the eighth. Ian out of the title hunt, the decider is between Peter and Petri next round.

No burnout at all for Steve leaving him with a long wait whilst Kev pushed back. The inevitable happened at the hit, Steve's tyre smoked, but in the other lane Kev's motor cut out off the line. 1.4663 to sixty for Steve, 5.0509/170.47 to the eighth, not pretty but in the next round.

Per's bike was fishtailing all the way but he had it covered.

Timo hit shake and the dragster headed sideways for the centre line, I think I heard the briefest of pedals and Timo pulled it straight. 3.8064/203.31 to sixty to Derek's 3.9196/206.64. Very brave drive for Timo, took the stripe by 0.1249.

Bizarre burnout for Oliver, motor stuttering and six cylinders out, almost as if the plug leads were in the wrong way, it was that kind of misfire. Fantastic bye for Fred to take the 2011 FIA European Championship. 0.9674 to sixty feet, 3.5710 at a huge 215.97 at the eighth. Well done Fred, Will and the guys!

Quite simple this one, with Ulf and Arvid equal in points the winner wins the Championship. Ulf on a European ET record also. 0.1020 to 0.1051 in Arvid's favour at the green but Arvid hit instant shake. 0.9466 to sixty for Ulf to Arvid's 1.2943, Arvid pedalled a couple of times and then the blower burst panel blew and the chutes deployed. Ulf drove through shake, 3.8901/192.55 to the eighth for Ulf, puff of smoke from his motor just before the stripe. Chris Hartnell's Backdraft slingshot was push-started along the track to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of Santa Pod Raceway and then our honoured guest Colonel Jeffery Yocum, Vice Commander of the 501st Combat Support Wing at RAF Alconbury, gave the command to start engines. It's a real privilege having Colonel Yocum here today and we hope he has a great time.

The situation with Championship points is that the FIA have not yet promulgated Tommy Johnson Jr's points deduction, if any, after his appeal so however the points turn out at the end of the day the Championship is provisional - unless we get official word during today of course.

Jari Halinen 9.7097/79.54 bye, Stig Neergaard shut off

Plenty of nitro coming up through the floor of Race Control, the air pretty much thick enough to eat. Stig shut off for a fluid leak before staging, Jari took the bye. 0.9205 to sixty feet, 2.5271 to 330 feet and shut off before the eighth.

Anita was lined up to run in the Alamo (left) lane but then changed lanes to the AutoGlym lane before starting. 0.1523 RT for Anita to Micke's 0.1546, Anita's tyres up in smoke at the hit and with a Championship chance at stake she pedalled it several times before shutting off, we lost sight of her car in the smoke. 0.9058 to sixty for Micke, 3.4357/206.94 at the eighth, smoke and then a huge ball of flame from Micke's motor in the second half, the motor on fire all the way down the shutdown area. The safety crews moved very quickly indeed, Micke is just fine but whether he has the parts to make the semi-final is another matter since unbeknown to us and not visible from here it was not just Kenni who had engine problems in the shutdown area last night.

Two more Championship contenders here so someone was going to be out of the chase at the stripe. Visible 0.1510 to 0.3211 holeshot for Risto, 0.8951 to sixty to Timo's 0.9134, 3.3162/250.64 at the eighth to Timo's 3.4761/233.22 Timo's car was drifting right towards the eighth and he pulled it back, a fishtail at about 1100 feet, Risto clocked at 291.23 at 1000 so on it all the way to the stripe, first by 0.4288 - pulling out the big one when it mattered.

Urs Erbacher 4.7958/313.59 def. Patrik Pers 5.9380/157.42

Patrik away first 0.1101 to 0.1665, Eurodragster.com sponsor Urs had it all from then on. 0.9100 to sixty to Patrik's 0.9210, 3.2735/259.26 at the eighth to Patrik's 3.4429/214.42 but Patrik's motor had started to smoke before the eighth and he was off the throttle about 750 feet out. Urs clocked at 298.94 at 1000 feet so again he was on it all the way to the quarter. All the safety kit mobilised for Patrik but quickly returned to their stations, just a quick sweep of the second eighth.

At the end of the session Andy Carter drove the Lucas Oil / Carter Motorsport Top Fueller down the track to say goodbye to the fans.

Marco got it pointing downtrack and slowed down and just barely tagged the guardrail - that could have been a lot worse but for an excellent job of control by Marco. 4.0827/180.34 to the eighth for Bruno.

Graham had the better sixty foot 1.0005 to 1.0159 but then Mats started to reel Graham in, 4.0224/184.20 to the eighth to Graham's 4.1977/166.99. Mats' Crown Victoria got close to the guardrail at the top end and he wrenched it right in a fairly violent move right on the stripe, 0.3392 win.

0.2707 RT for Micke to Jean's 0.4163, 1.0498 to sixty to Jean's 1.1483. Micke then hit shake, the Camaro swinging wildly left and right, I counted three pedals. Meanwhile Jean wasn't far behind Micke, but his motor was spitting out flame and the car was hesitating. 4.8920/127.37 to the eighth for Micke. 5.0633/68.44 for Jean.

Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the FIA European Finals brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car.

The Webster Race Engineering/Nimbus Motorsport webcam will be broadcasting live video and trackside audio as long as the track is open. We have a problem talking to the Doyousee.me server at the moment so the webcam is running on UStream. Maikel is on the case and when his server is back in action we will stop the webcam and move it back - at which point you will need to refresh the webcam page.

It's a beautiful day here at Santa Pod, not a cloud in the sky and a light breeze. The track has had plenty of sun already and it looks pristine.

At this point we would normally say a big Raceday Hello to our US Correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman but Ed is sat right next to me, so this morning just a Hello to Kathy. Hope you are having a good weekend Kathy and we will deliver Ed back to Heathrow in time for his flight home.

We would like to say a particular Hello to all of our readers in the USA on the tenth anniversary of 9/11. You are in our thoughts and we will be having a tribute here today with a special guest from the US military.
