Super Gas and Pro ET racer Dan Page is through the first three rounds of Pro ET and the first round of Super Gas. He said "A couple of friends came up to see me so I am glad I am doing ok." The car is now green courtesy of some friends in Dan's village who have a car spraying business.

Super Gas and Super Comp racer Jon Morton has a refreshed Jeff Bull engine and sent the carburretor back to Bo Laws in the US for servicing. There is also a new hood scoop. Yesterday the front panel came off at high speed when the air got under it. "I am amazed that as it came off at 150mph it was still in good condition and thanks to Mark White for helping me remount it."

Super Gas racer Mark White who also won in round one, will be doing only a partial season as his partner Rita (pictured) is expecting their first child at the end of July. "We will be spending some time in Hungary where my work takes me and where Rita is from. "Zane Llewellyn has done work on the gearbox and engine", said Mark.

Super Gas and Super Comp racers Stuart (pictured left) and Collin Morrice have a freshened gearbox from Tony Gransden, new throttle stop by Dedenbear and delay box by Biondo. "We want the car to be as consistent as possible", said Stuart. The team plan to run all championship rounds.

Sportsman ET racer Jake Handy is in the Camaro and will share the driving with owner Ian Jackson who has recovered from heart bypass surgery during the winter. Ian said "I'm feeling much better already and the other car will be rebuilt to eventually move into Super Pro ET."

Junior Dragster racer Paige Wheeler has support from Eurodragster.com sponsors Alamo Rent-a-Car which offers great deals through the link on our race report. Paige supported by parents Andy and Dionne will be running the UK Championship and NHRA Junior Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals, which are scheduled for 28th-30th July at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tennessee. Part of the visit to the US will be a visit to Roger Burgess's R2B2 Racing facility as Paige represents R2B2 Racing in the UK and Europe.

Super Pro ET racer Nigel Turner is pictured with daughter Ellice. He said "It's my first race since Easter last year after which I spent the year crewing for John Everitt on the Alien. There are no new parts on the car which is as it was. I may be a little rusty on the lights but the dragster is consistent, although it got a bit squirrely on the last run yesterday." Nigel got through the first three rounds of Super Pro ET.

Super Street Bike racer Dave Holland (pictured) is helped by Ken Cooper on his new bike. Dave said "The bike has a Gan clutch and is set up by NLR's Sebastien Domingo in Alabama. He is monitoring our runs of the webcam and emailing recommendations and is in liaison with Brad O'Connor about the Motec ignition. It's a new bike to me and will take me time to get settled. But it should run quick - it has gone 7.1s in the US. We have teamed with Wayne Saunders as Pro Street Busa UK - we share everything!" The bike runs Michelin tyres. Dave said "Our setup favours them and they seem to last longer. I am not quite happy with my riding and I am making routine errors - but it is the first meeting and there is a lot of pressure."

Super Street Bike racer Dave Smith lost to Thomas Granica by hitting the ET block at the finish line. "The bike turned left", he said. "You can either get off the throttle or lean over. I couldn't see Thomas alongside me and at 1000ft I realised I was heading towards the block so I kept on it and leant over but it wasn't enough. Afterwards I gave Thomas advice on tuning his shifter and I think this has helped cure his issue." After this meeting Dave and Graham Dance head off to Hungary to race in an invitational Super Street race at the UEM event next weekend.

9.50 Bike racer Fred Furlong qualified no.1 after taking the last twelve months off. "I had a new engine and gearbox in my GSXR1000 over the winter and it ran a 9.45 on my first run. Fred's company Furlong Tyres has arranged with Michelin for £3000 worth of contingency sponsorship. The winner of 9.50, 8.50 or Super Street Bike using Michelin Power One tyre will get a new tyre.

9.50 Bike racer Paul Furlong is, like his father Fred, still in play after two rounds. He said "I have done road racing and last year did two rounds of 9.50 Bike and will be doing the whole championship series this year." Paul rides a Honda Fireblade, an unusual bike for drag racing which has created interest. He runs tyres2u.co.uk which is a mobile tyre fitting offshoot of Furlong Tyres and will fit tyres for cars, vans or 4x4s in the Yeovil and South West.

Super Street Bike racer Garry Bowe acquired Dave Holland's old bike over the winter with a new rear end, body work and paint job. He said "It is modern technology with a Gan clutch and NLR turbo set up by Brad O'Connor at BTC Moto. After three bad runs on Saturday Brad had a look at the ECU and I then ran a 7.46, my first clean run on it, and there is potential for loads more." Gary's old bike is now in the hands of Mick Templeman.

Super Twin racer Christian Jäger has been in learning mode this weekend with his first rides on the machine. "I feel much more comfortable handling the bike now and it's time for some full passes." A 7.6758 in round one looked very strong until the bike started drifting to the right.

Super Twin racer Chris Hannam was defeated by Christian Jäger in round one but is generally happy with the weekend. "We have got all the parts doing what they are supposed to, so now we have a base setting and are compensating for the air, which has been variable this meeting. Yesterday's 7.47 pass would have been good if the bike hadn't drifted." Cannon added "We are just fighting things like a bit of paper in the fuel line and a broken belt. But we are confident we can do well in UEM Super Twin at the Main Event."

Pro Stock racer Tommy Leindahl is glad the weather has allowed for testing here. "We tried testing at Malmö in May last year and it was too cold. So far we have done launches and early shut-offs to fine tune the clutch and chassis setup and to get off the line. Our best 60ft time is 1.04, but we should be getting a 0.98 or 0.99 so there is more to do. We will be storing the car at Conrad's place and will test again before the Main Event. We are also glad to be helping Conrad and his team in testing the Grand Am - we would like to run as a team in future and share data when the cars are matched."

Pro Stock racer Conrad Stanley said "It's great I'm getting more seat time here. We are working on the car's settings and we are also working on servicing the car within an hour after the previous run. I feel more comfortable in it and we are adapting it to the track. We will test again before the Main Event." Conrad later recorded his first six and 200mph, a 6.8763/200.62 alongside Tommy Leindahl.

Pro Stock clutch guru Marcus Svensson is also here to tune the new Leanders 6" clutch now fitted to Conrad's car. "The car has belonged to Greg Anderson in the NHRA who I worked with subsequently and I also looked after the car when it was owned by Magnus Hansson. I am pleased with the car's performance and it is good to see Conrad doing well with it."

Super Comp and Super Pro ET racer Dave Raper said "We have had the usual issues after the close season. We were curing some small leaks on Friday. On Saturday we did much better but yesterday we had problems with the track and didn't get it together. It's our first meeting in Super Pro and it is a bit scary having the big cars come from behind. I am also adapting to the sportsman tree - I left on the first amber once and rolled the lights twice. I had byes in the first round of both classes being up against Reinier's truck. Racing in both classes is not too much of a problem as it is on methanol and runs quite cool but the fuel tank size is marginal

Pro Mod racer Jean Dulamon has a map of Europe on the back of his trailer so that anyone following him knows where to head towards for the FIA drag racing tour.

The '76 reunion of drivers to contest the Easter meeting 35 years ago included Peter Crane who carded a historic 5.97, defeating 'Big Daddy' Don Garlits in the process. He said "I am still in touch with the sport and the weather today is reminiscent of that meeting. I never had a better day than that in my racing career. It's a bit difficult to spectate rather than be involved in the drama of the racing but I love the smell and atmosphere. When I was interviewed after the first five in the same spot I was somewhat overawed as we had so much work to do. I was concentrating on getting the car set up to back up the 5.97 on the next run which we did."

Top Fuel Dragster and Funny Car racer Tony Froome is here after a break of 26 years. He started in the sport with an evil-handling rear engined Funny Car imported by US serviceman and racer Ed Shaver. "I was the only one that could drive it", said Tony. "At Easter '76 we had a new rear engined dragster and all sorts of new car gremlins prevented us from getting past the first round. I then ran a Funny Car with my youngest brother Trace and Lesley Prior and Trace still runs with the Supercharged Outlaws. I still own a Beretta Funny Car and would love to drive one again."

Keith Potter of Devil altered fame also competed in the '76 Easter meeting and is also looking to make a return to the sport. "I raced between 1974 and 1986 and then lived in Spain for twenty years. I have come back into the area and live in a village near Olney. I am building a new version of the Devil and have a rolling chassis and will be getting a five window Plymouth body hopefully for a debut in 2013."

The announcer and starter at the '76 meeting were Brian Taylor (pictured left) and Stu Bradbury. Brian said "It brings back great memories of being here for that event. The '76 event was a fitting way to celebrate Santa Pod's tenth anniversary." Stu said "There were 60,000 packed into the facility and Radio One put out an announcement that people queuing had to be turned away as there was not more space and the queue went right back to the M1." Brian and Stu are working on bring the original Allard Chrysler to the Dragstalgia event and are working on getting the engine reinstalled to have it ready for a cacklefest.

The late great Bootsie Herridge was represented by his grandson, fourteen year old Jordan. He said "My Dad drove the wheelie Stingray and few times and I like the idea of driving, but we'll see."

Comp Bike racer Gary Jones was delighted to run his first-ever six but less pleased when a bang at the end of the run resulted in a rod coming through the front of the engine. He said "We have had power issues and finally traced it to a dump valve on the inlet manifold. It had been not shutting properly but we only discovered the problem after it jammed on Saturday and we had no boost. It needed to fail before we found the cause. We will repair the engine case which is billet and have a new crank made up by Dave Branch. I hope we won't be out for long."

Pro Stock Bike racer Len Paget has put a revolutionary slipping bar and four link suspension system on his machine. It's covered up by a carbon fibre panel "so that the opposition can't copy it", as he said. "We have been testing it at the same time my clutch was being tested by Graham Dance and I'm really pleased with the outcome of both of these items. I got the idea for the suspension system from motocross where they rely on the suspension compressing to give you grip."

Funny Bike racer Steve French was trying to track down a clutch related gremlin. "On the first run the clutch pulled me forward in stage. I then ran a 7.14 to be no.1 which I am really pleased with. I then turned the power up for the next pass and it pulled me through when I needed to stop. It's quite random and doesn't occur when I am on the stutter box. Like an Easter Bunny it keeps grabbing."

Top Fuel Bike racer Kev Charman suffered gearbox failure on Rene van den Berg's bike. "We have another gearbox that we are going to try. It is different but it fits and we can get spare parts for it", said Kev's partner Lizz McCarthy. Kev wanted to thank Rene and Chris for all their hard work.

Super Gas racer Christer Uhlin was 2010 NDRS Champion and no.1 qualifier with his ultra-consistent Ford Fairlane, running a 9.901. Teams signed up for the NDRS series will be able to accumulate points at the Thunderball.

Super Gas racer Olav Skjervo was not far behind Christer with a 9.101 to qualify third. Olav and Christer have been racing at the Thunderball for many years. Their next race will be round two of the NDRS series being held at the new Tierp Arena on the weekend of 7-8 May.
