Brief consternation around Bruno's Vette after the burnout as he took a while to get into reverse. Adam away first 0.0697 to 0.0934, 1.1338 to sixty for Bruno with tyres already shaking, the shake got worse, Bruno pedalled it and got back on it. 3.9627/183.17 to the eighth for Adam, Bruno off the throttle at the eighth 5.0462/154.15 then back on it again but Adam was way ahead and took it by 1.3662.

Micke Lindahl followed with a very shaky 6.8683/207.99 demo pass.

Eurodragster.com sponsor Urs away first 0.1145 to 0.1681, better sixty foot time 0.8943 to 0.9032, 3.2502/255.65 at the eighth for Urs to Janne's 3.3494/242.67, Janne's car was blackstriping all the way and his dragster made a move for the centre line, he was off it at about 1200 feet. Urs' motor started to smoke and he too shut off just before the stripe.

FIA Top Methanol Dragster final

Derek Flynn 5.3514/268.93 bye

Eurodragster.com sponsor Derek unopposed after there was no result in the other semi-final, all he had to do was to take the green although he told us that he would really like to back up his speed record. 0.9532 to sixty feet, 3.5716/220.30 at the eighth, nice straight run and a new European speed record of 270.53 mph backed up by this run, well done Derek!

Michael away first 0.0457 to 0.0893 but Jimmy quickly got on with the business of catching him. 0.9969 sixty foot time for Jimmy to Michael's 1.0431, 4.3332 at the eighth to Michael's 4.3987, and Jimmy took the stripe by 0.0377.

-0.3852 red light for Petri and then the bike stuttered to a halt at about 80 feet. 1.0950 to sixty for Peter, 4.0801/196.17 at the eighth, very straight pass.

Big 0.0733 to 0.3354 holeshot for Steve but Rikard overhauled him and got there first by 0.4792. Rikard appeared to tag the guardrail again in the shutdown area but no consternation so all OK I guess.

Lo shut off before staging. First alternate Martijn took the event win, 1.1763 to sixty feet and 4.6583/155.79 at the eighth.

Kalle away first 0.0420 to 0.0647 but Ulf was making it up by sixty feet 1.0926 to 1.0926. 4.5403 to the eight for Ulf to Kalle's 4.6024 and the stripe by 0.0454.

Lo got to the eighth in 4,4220/149.36 then his motor also banged.

Fred Hanssen did not start, Dave Wilson no show

Major damage for the Silverline Tools dragster so Grumpy did not appear in the collection area. Major damage too on Fred's car and the team had a thrash to make the call. Will and the team tried to start the car for long enough to get into stage for the green, but the car would not start so there is no result for this race. Eurodragster.com sponsor Derek just has to stage in the final to win the event.

-0.2773 red light for Danny handed this to Dan, and Danny had a rough ride hitting shake and trying to drive through it as he pretty obviously didn't realise that he had redlit. 0.9733 to sixty feet for Dan, shake marks between about 100 and 300 feet but Dan stayed with it, 3.8205/196.18 at the eighth. The next race is crucial for the Championship.

Jürgen and Dan on identical points going in to this round, just a case of who goes furthest. Jürgen handed Dez the race and Dan the Championship with a -0.3589 red light. Dez hit appalling shake and shut off at about 120 feet, stopped on the track at about 1000 feet. Smoke from Grumpy's motor and then a flash of flame right on the finish line but Grumpy there first by 0.0035 or 16.08 inches.

That was a tremendous race! Paul Ingar away first 0.0645 to Eurodragster.com sponsor Derek's 0.1188, Paul had the better sixty foot time 0.9253 to 0.9618. Derek came back at him by the eighth through, 3.5665 at a massive 223.44 to Paul Ingar's 3.6481/206.61. The Gold RV dragster made a move to the right at about 1000 feet but Derek stayed with it, Paul Ingar's dragster threw its blower belt just before the stripe. A new PB for Derek and the first half of a European speed record, well done Derek!

Dennis Habermann 5.4290/253.83 def. Timo Habermann 5.3742/260.55

This race a potential Championship decider - pretty clear-cut though, if Timo won then he would be Champion. What on Earth happened there I wouldn't care to guess, 0.2354 RT for Dennis to Timo's sluggish and then some 0.6238 Timo's sixty foot was better 0.9239 to 0.9258 as was his eighth 3.5155 to 3.5454 but Dennis was there first by 0.3336. Dennis could win the Championship if he wins the event, or if he gets to the final and sets Low ET.

#1 qualifier bye for Danny. Shake and tyre smoke at the hit, revs went sky-high and Danny shut off at about 150 feet.

Dan running with his spare engine after nuking the primary item yesterday. Visible 0.0966 to 0.2944 holeshot for Dan, Rob's tyres up in smoke at the hit and the car turned to the right, Rob shut off. 0.9587 to sixty for Dan, 3.8227/195.04 at the eighth.

Dezsoe Krivan 11.3182/72.66 bye, Arvid Grødem no show

Problems in the pits for Arvid by all accounts, ending his chance of the title. 0.9673 to sixty for Dez, tyres started to shake by the Tree and then the FC turned hard left. Dez got off the throttle and wrenched the car right to keep it in his lane.

Last-photographer burnout for Jürgen, about 150 feet. If you ever need to explain to someone how a slower time can win a race then this is the race to use as an example. 0.1446 RT for Jürgen to Steph's 0.7803, Jürgen had the better sixty foot time 1.0028 to 1.0705, Jürgen looked to be driving through shake and Steph had a much better eighth mile 3.9443/194.62 to Jürgen's 4.1611/231.39. Steph was visibly reeling Jürgen in and blew her PB in to next week, well done Steph! Jürgen took the stripe by 0.3873 which just goes to show what a good RT will do for you.

Jürgen and Dan Larsen are currently tied on Championship points.

Sampsa visibly away first 0.0665 to 0.1221 but the Cobalt hesitated for the briefest fraction. 1.0066 to sixty for Tommy to Sampsa's 1.0413, Sampsa had the better eighth 4.4020/159.37 to Tommy's 4.4207/159.46, Tommy's carpet slipper made a move to the right but he stayed on the throttle, Sampsa there first by 0.0713.

Holeshot win and second place in the Championship for Jan. 0.0480 RT for Jan to Micke's 0.0927, Micke had the better sixty foot 1.0091 to 1.0306 and the better eighth 4.3837 to 4.4117 but Sampsa's start line advantage did it for him to the tune of 0.0356 at the stripe.

Michael's first race as Champion and dispels the old saying about losing your first race after winning the title. Trackside conditions for this first race were 17.1 C, 69% humidity and air pressure of 29.83 inches. Janne away first 0.0527 to 0.1385, Stig had the much better sixty foot time 0.8716 to 0.9824, about 400 feet out Stig's tyres started to smoke and shake, 3.9260/152.98 at the eighth whilst Janne was powering ahead by then, 3.4047/244.61 at the eighth. Stig's tyres smoked again after Stig pedalled and we saw the side of his dragster as it made a violent move to the right. Janne there first by 2.5990.

A crucial race for Championship leader and Eurodragster.com sponsor Urs. Urs away first 0.1166 to 0.1308, much better sixty foot time too 0.8648 to 0.9008, not too much between them at the eighth 3.2048/257.09 to Jari's 3.2982/250.61. Some smoke from Jari's car in the second half and he was off the throttle before the stripe. Urs took it by 0.1423, a huge cloud of smoke from his dragster right on the finish line but the track was checked and found to be OK.

The second crucial Championship race, this time for Risto. Visible holeshot for Risto 0.2184 to 0.2961, 0.9227 to sixty for Risto and his tyres blazed. 0.8581 to sixty for Anits, Risto gave it one pedal then gave up. 3.1346/256.46 at the eighth for Anita and it looked from here as if her blower belt broke at about 1000 feet. Micke away first 0.0948 to 0.1747, 0.8733 to sixty for Andy to Micke's 0.9168. 3.2629/261.59 at the eighth for Andy to Micke's 3.3070/229.11, right at the eighth the Lucas Oil dragster started to move to the left and took out the 1000 foot and finish line reflectors, and Andy was DQ'd.

Possibly a Championship-deciding race...no, not yet. Mats away first 0.1306 to 0.1342, Johan had the better sixty foot time 0.9868 to 0.9895, Mats hit bad shake and the Goblin headed for the centre line but he drove through the shake and stayed with it. 3.9770/184.69 to the eighth for Johan, 4.0767/176.99 for Mats, Johan shut off and put the chutes out just a touch early but took the stripe by 0.1394.

Tremendous run for Adam. Henri was out of this race very quickly as the Chevy's front wheels climbed and the rear tyres shook so hard that we could feel it up here, he was off it by the Tree. 0.9776 to sixty for Adam, a huge 3.9160/189.40 at the eighth, and his first five-second pass. Well done Adam!

-0.0382 red for Robert and it was Melanie's race. 0.9699 to sixty, very slight shake and a little move which Mel had covered, after that the run was good and straight, 4.0435/184.22 at the eighth.

Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the FIA European Finals brought to you in association with American Car Imports.

It's a beautiful day here at Santa Pod, lovely blue sky with not a cloud to be seen. The weather station sensor is in sunlight at the moment so we'll get it in the shade then bring you the trackside conditions.

A big Hello to Herb Andrews who got in touch yesterday. Great to hear you're mended Herb and we look forward to seeing you at SCR next weekend. Incidentally we agree totally with your sentiment about discussion forums.

The provisional running order for today has the presentation to #1 qualifiers at 09:15 followed by the first round of Pro Modified at 09:30; however there are some Sportsman eliminations outstanding from last night. As soon as we get any updates we will let you know. Stay tuned.
